Blake's POV

After coaxing, the boy finally relented and decided to give me more information.

As the teenage boy warily stood in front of me in a small alley of the desolate town, I listened to hisexplanations trying to replace a trace of Chloe in his words.

“That mysterious doctor, can you describe her to me?” I looked at him as I pulled out a piece ofpencil and paper.

He described the mysterious doctor's features and I tried to draw her countenance according to hiswords.

However, after asking him again and again, the image that was made was someone whom I do noteven recognize.

A wave of disappointment came upon me as I felt that the doctor whom the boy was pertaining towas not even Chloe at all... However, the aura I was feeling was becoming slightly stronger the moreI stayed here in town.

“Is it a dead end?’ I questioned myself as I looked at the pitiful boy in front of me.

Seeing my gaze, the boy continued giving me information, “T-the doctor comes down to town everynow and then...”

“Based on her past visits, she would always go before the day of the full moon then to a certainplace where she stays for a few days until she heals the ill...” He added. “That's where I wanted tooriginally go... w-when I followed you, Mister..."

At this point, I was already half convinced that the person he was pertaining to wasn't Chloe, butsince I have already promised that I would help him, I continued and asked,

"If the mysterious doctor you are pertaining to is coming to town, why do you need to follow thatdoctor to that place?” I asked as I realized that the boy was pointing in a direction to the forest. The boy paused and looked at me with a dejected manner. “W-well... the townspeople would notallow us to come with them to see the doctor... that is why I am desperate like this...”

“Ii could only wait for her there and pray that she would grant my request...” He added. “I can bringyou there... that is where she usually heads to when she finishes tending to the townspeople...”

I glanced at the young boy and observed, from his words and actions it seems like they weresomehow unable to go around town freely.

Judging from how he clumsily followed me a while ago, his situation might have been connected tothe kind of illness his mother had

"Alright, take me there. But we cannot stay there too long... You said that your mother is not in agood condition right? It is not good that you leave her alone for long..." I declared.

The boy looked at me in astonishment and relief. He did not delay any further and guided me to theplace.

In any case, even if this mysterious doctor might not be Chloe... it may give me some cluesregarding the mysterious pack that appeared in this region.

Moreover, if the doctor did not even get to the place where we would go, I was already planning forArthur or Astor to come and check the boy's mother.

Two of us went out of the town and threaded in the woods.

Thick mud started to hug our feet and slow us down, however we did not even pause for once.

The forest was wet and dense, the deepest greens kept hugging us tighter and tighter the more wewent further in it.

We have walked for so long and still the place the boy was pertaining to could not be found evenyet...

However the teenage boy did not even waver and begged for a break no matter how treacherousthe terrain was.

Looking at his struggling body, there is a painful tug in my heart as I remembered my poor unbornchild.

'If he or she is alive... Will he or she be able to grow like this?"

“If that is so... would do my best to not let suffering fall like this..."

I thought as the sorrow that was buried deep was unintentionally unearthed with this encounter.

In the end, my body instinctively reached out to him to make him stop.

“Let's take a break for a while... the terrain is not easy to thread so we need to have enough energyto go further and back...” I told him as I reached out in my backpack and gave the teenage boy aportion of my dry ration and water.

“T-thank you, mister!”

After taking a quick break, we gathered ourselves and continued.

After an hour of trekking, we stopped at a small cabin standing in a small clearing to which thesunlight freely comes and goes

“This is where the doctor stays!” The teenage boy ran toward the fence of the log cabin with anexcited smile.

I did not stop him, but instead scanned for any presence in the place.

Unfortunately, there were no people inside.

“There is no one in there...” I told him silently.

“Mister... can't we wait for the doctor here? I beg you... she might come to this place today...”

I looked at the surroundings that were void of any presence other than us and sighed. “Very well...we wait until the sun comes down.”

Feeling relieved, the boy's eyes glimmered with home as he stood by the fence of the cabin andwaited patiently.

Hours came and the sky slowly turned dark orange, yet there was not even a presence of smallanimals that came near our place.

“The sun is going down... young boy, we have to go..." I reminded him.

“Mister... please believe me, the doctor might come here today... maybe there's just too manypatients in town to heal...” As soon as he heard my reminder, the boy panicked and started to beg."You need not wait for them like this... I know a few good doctors, I can bring them to you just aswe have agreed.” I shook my head and answered.

Arthur or Teacher Astor could surely come to my side as needed, but I cannot waste too much timewaiting for someone who might not even be Chloe at all.

“M-mister... please, can't we just wait for a few more hours?” The teenage boy begged once more.He went toward me and begged as if I was holding the fate of his mother at the moment.

Seeing his determination, I could not help but sigh and nod, “Not until midnight...” I added.

With that we waited in the early of the night, but unfortunately nobody showed up.

I saw the teenage boy squatting on the ground in wait, with his body trembling in helplessness anddejection.

“It's time..." I told him, reminding him that there are other ways for his mother to be treated, “Let'sgo back and look for my friend who might be able to help your mother...”

The boy, teary-eyed, looked at me with unwillingness and anxiousness but still nodded andfollowed.

But just as we are about to head back to the direction of the town, I felt a presence coming towardus.

"Who's there!” In an instant my voice rang and as the sudden approach of the aura stopped us fromour tracks.
