Blake

Watching them from a distance, I stayed at my post obediently but my mind could not stop thinkingthat there was something wrong with their attitude towards us.

“Could it be that Alpha Kain and the elders no longer trust us?” I asked myself.

“Impossible, we have yet to exhibit anything suspicious at all... Moreover, the last time they gave uswork in connection to the Red Moon Pack was that first plan that we made.”

I furrowed my brows, wallowing in wonder. The discomfort churning inside me bothered me somuch that even Eron became uneasy.

Thinking about it for a little more, I started thinking that this may have all started when I saw Lyra asKain's wife last time.

Could it be that Lyra and Kain felt something about my actions back then? Did they notice my rageand hostility?

As I asked this question, my heart could not help but pound deeply. A wave of worry anduncertainty rushed over me, a feeling that I hated to experience the most when it came to war withmy enemies.

“If that is truly the case then all the more that I have to take more measures.” I pondered.

With that, I mind-linked Alpha Sabre and immediately explained to him everything. The elder Alphaheard my report and worries and thought for a while before deciding.

“I shall swap with you ahead of our agreed schedule, we have to diminish the suspicion drawn toyou at least until our provocation comes to fruition... As for the matter of Gauss, I'll tell Arthur in themeantime and he'll pass the information to Alpha Chloe once you are able to determine the facts. Icould only think of the two of them when it comes to countering poison with poison.”

After that, I waited for the change in guards to exchange with Alpha Sabre and conduct myinvestigation.

In the middle of the night, I woke up in my quarters and stared at the open windows. There AlphaSabre stood, almost completely blending with the shadows of the curtains.

This is the true stealth skill of the Frost Fang Pack..." I thought while in a daze.

“Lycan King... are you sure you do not need any reinforcements on your investigation?” Emergingfrom the dark shadows, Alpha Sabre asked with a tinge of worry.

“It'll be fine Alpha Sabre... the more people involved the more dangerous it will be. Besides, infiltrating a place where we do not know anything about is highly dangerous as well. Every personthat we have right now is precious, I do not wish for needless deaths.” I answered.

Alpha Sabre with his olden eyes looked at me examining my state of mind. I could not help but feelan inkling of similarity as to how Teacher Astor would look at me whenever I said my thoughts tohim like this.

“Very well... Just know that you need to come back well and safe.” After some time, Alpha Sabrenodded in agreement.

With that, I stood up preparing to depart but he handed me something, it was a little vial filled withdark-looking powder.

"Alpha Chloe asked me to give this to you... she said that the effect of this powder is to bring thosewho inhaled the poison into a state of confusion. Once you take the powder out of the bottle, it willimmediately diffuse in the air so you can use it in case you are pursued. This is the antidote...”Explaining how the hallucinogen worked, Alpha Sabre handed me a small piece of thin cloth foldedin a square. Inside it were several tablets of antidote which I could use during the infiltration.

"Each antidote lasts an hour...” Alpha Sabre reminded me.

“I understand, Thank you Alpha Sabre...” Keeping the poison and the antidote in a safe place, I gaveAlpha Sabre a signal that I should be going.

“I pray that the Moon goddess will guide you.” Alpha Sabre put on the Silver mask as I flew out ofthe window escaping to the woods.

All of my garments were already changed while waiting for Alpha Sabre, as such, my entire figurecompletely blended in the night.

Staring at the vast area of the Blood Hound's base, I called out to Eron, “Eron... I need your help.”"En... I already remembered that elder’s scent. I could smell his trace at the easternmost part of theforest about 10 miles from the border of the territory.” Eron replied.

Ever since Chloe and I trained together, Eron and I discovered that his tracking powers grewstronger than before. As of the moment, he could identify a person's scent within a 50-kilometerradius which would help in warning me of any enemies approaching from all directions.

“That far? Why would he build a hideout that is far from their own borders?” I asked but my bodyimmediately moved through the shadows of the night and headed towards the direction Eron wassaying.

“Be warned, I do not like the smell that is emanating in that place...” Eron said before becomingsilent once more.

My eyes flashed a vigilant light as soon as I kept Eron’s warning in mind. What lies there for Eron toexpress his uneasiness in that place?

“His smell is getting stronger... he had a lot of companions with him as well...” When we were a fewkilometers away, Eron warned once more.

I slowed down and started surveying the terrain.

There was no structure that could be seen in place, to my surprise.

“They must be underground... or in a natural cave...” I concluded.

Eron then helped me locate the entrances and in a flash, I managed to covertly infiltrate thehideout.

Gauss's hideout was indeed in the underground but the entrance could only be accessed through acrevice formed in a rock formation.

The moment I entered, I could immediately see the numerous structures built inside and figured outthat the entire place was an underground cave.

As soon as I entered, the strong scent of mixed herbs and pungent fumes caused Eron to growl indisgust causing him to totally hide his presence.

“It seems like this is where Gauss's laboratory is..” Hiding behind the shadows made by the rockformations underground, I observed the bustle that was happening.

The people inside were dressed in robes with their noses and hands covered with protective gear. They were working silently in their own areas, inspecting, scrutinizing, grinding and mixing herbsthat I could not even recognize.

Seeing how massive the laboratory is, I could not help but feel a wave of worry just at the thoughtof how much poison these people were going to make as compared to Chloe's Red Moon Pack.

It seems like the battle will not be easy when two parties know how to use poison.

While watching them, my eyes finally found Gauss in the midst of many elders, they were headingdeeper into the cave, and with their hands were a few vials that were probably freshly produced.Using the shadows behind the rocks, I diminished my presence to its minimum and followed theGauss and the elders.

They were heading to a path that narrows downward as if going even deeper underground.

Finally, they arrived in a dark hall where occasionally, water seeps through the cave walls. The hallwas an open circular space, but on the other side of it was a closed room with a stone door.

Just as I thought that they would immediately proceed to the door, Gauss halted and looked at themen while saying with a heavy tone of warning.

“Gentlemen, no matter what you see from this point forward, no one is to tell Alpha Kain's Queen!”
