Cleo's POV

"What the actual fuck!" Opening my eyes, I replace Daphne looking at me as if I've grown a second head.

"What?" I asked completely confused.

"Your mark... it glowed. And I mean night light in the dark fucking type of glow." Placing my fingers over my mark the warm feeling buzzed through my fingers like electric, leaving my entire body tingling. I knew something was different when I felt the link to Roman open. When the mind link between us opened before it felt natural, but this time it was almost as if another part of me had forced it to connect. A small part of me wondered if it had something to do with the other half of me. The half I wasn't ready to accept.

"Roman is coming, we will get out of here Daphne" and I knew we would. I couldn't explain it, but I knew Roman would do everything in his power to bring me back to him. There was no denying he had a reputation for being worse than his grandfather when it came to being ruthless, so I knew there was nothing he wouldn't do.

"Look I trust you, Cleo. You're my sister, but please don't expect me to place my trust in a guy that's going to be the reason you die" tears formed in her eyes as she relived the shock and panic, we felt after our trip to Agatha. Neither one of us wanted to believe her vision would come true, but then she was a blood witch meaning it was very unlikely she would be wrong. I knew it wasn't going to be plain sailing, but I had to have faith that wasn't how my life was going to end. I had faith that the moon goddess had a plan, that she wouldn't pair me with a descendant of her own just to die and leave him forever in pain. There was just no way someone so pure could be so cruel.

Daphne and I sat there in silence for what felt like hours until eventually the rattling sound of keys caught our attention. With a quick glance at each other both Daphne and I locked our gazes on the gate as it swung open. The high-pitched squeak it made hurt my ears but woke Freya from whatever had put her to sleep.

'Goddess wouldn't hurt them to put wd40 on that shit, would it?' Struggling to stop the smile forming on my face at her sarcasm, I focused on the demonic bitch that walked in.

She wasn't what I had expected a demon to look like. Though to be honest I wasn't really sure what a demon was supposed to look like. She wasn't ugly by any means; she was actually quite stunning. In a grungy kind of way. Her eyes darker with the thick black eyeliner she wore and the dark black lipstick really making them stand out. Her long blonde hair was tied up into a ponytail revealing spiked earrings that went up the sides of both her ears. As she strolled in, I watched as she rolled up the sleeves on her blouse revealing a sleeve of different tattoos. She really had her badass woman look on point.

"You've got what you wanted. I'm here, now let my sister go!" Ignoring me the woman walked up to me taking a small pocketknife from her boot and grabbing my hair. Daphne screamed for her to release me, but it fell on deaf ears. Gripping my hair tighter, using the knife she cut a section of my hair before placing the knife back in her boot and shoving me away. "What the hell! I didn't ask for a fucking hair cut you psychotic bitch! I asked you to let my sister go" Spitting the dust from my mouth I growled.

"Calm down you're not scaring anyone. Once I've confirmed you are who I think you are I will consider it. You are in no place to be making demands. So, sit, roll over and be good girl." Growling my canines slipped through my gums as I lunged myself towards her. The bitch just smiled and crossed her arms as she watched the chains prevent me from reaching her. My body began to heat up making me feel dizzy, however ignoring it I dug my fingers into the ground to brace and steady myself. Her smile was short lived and soon dropped as fur sprouted along my arms replacing the skin. "What the..." her words were cut off as the chain around my leg snapped as I shifted. It may have been strong enough to hold my human form, but it certainly wasn't going to hold my wolf. Taking a step back she tripped over Daphne's leg. Daphne was quick to hold her in place using a chock hold stopping her from shuffling away. Knowing she was stuck the demons body began to ripple as she attempted to shimmer away only Freya was quick to stop her, or so she thought.

A wave of nausea washed over me as I felt my paws hit the ground. The demon shrieked as she tried to stand only Freya's bite had broken her ankle, so she fell back on her ass. Out of nowhere a fireball came hurdling towards me one we barely managed to miss as another wave of heat had us wobbling on my paws.

"Get her! She can't escape!" Suddenly a man that shared similarities with the woman stood in front of me the corners of his lips tugged up in an evil smirk.

"Good doggy. Stay..." seriously as if that was going to work. All it was doing was winding us up more.

'I'll show him a good doggy' Freya was furious with the disrespect they showed. Amused I took a backseat knowing she was about to give them a taste of their own medicine. Roman's POV

I don't know how she did it, but I could see everything that was happening. When the demon cut her hair a growl so feral left me that Kai skidded the car to a stop out of fear of me shifting inside. My knuckles turned white as I tried to hold Balthazar in. We were only twelve miles out and when we got there, he could take all the control he wanted. Demons be damned.

"Bro if you shift in here, you will be paying to have the leather re-done." Growling at his lack of trust in me I punched his dash. Cleo and I had only just accepted each other and already someone had come for her. I knew the risks, but I couldn't reject her. Not only were the pack my father's uncle ran looking for a way you get to me, but now we had to worry about my mate's father.

As Kai re-joined the road, I closed my eyes focusing on what was happening. A sense of pride filled my chest as I watched her shift to free herself from the chains meant to hold her. Balthazar hummed in approval as he realised his mate was stronger than she looked. One thing was becoming clearer by the second. My mate didn't need me or anyone to save her, not that it was going to stop me from trying. She was a force to be reckoned with and goddess help anyone that tried.

"Pullover" I shouted as I opened the car door and getting out before rolling to a stop. "She's here." Looking around I tried to replace where the entry to the cave she was in could be. Walking into the woods I smiled as Kai began to curse about getting mud over his shoes. He was someone that cared to much about material objects. Finding the edge to the side of a mountain I pushed the shrubs aside revealing the entrance to a cave. This had to be it I thought to myself as I stepped inside. The further in we went the stronger her scent became. "Roman... I think she..."

"Yeh Kai, I know. Fuck" I mumbled as the scent began to overwhelm me. Kai was mated already but even he could sense the change in Cleo's scent. Balthazar growled in my head knowing we needed to get to our mate and now. Taking a deep breath, I welcomed the momentary discomfort of the shift. Over time I had become accustomed to the pain as each bone broke before reshaping and popping into place as my body took on a new form. Opening my eyes, I was shocked to replace Balthazar taking a back seat while giving me full control of his natural form. Running full speed through the various of tunnels we skidded to a stop as three possible entries came into view.

'Shit which one?' Kai's voice entered my head as his wolf stepped beside me. His wolf rivalled mine in size but similar to our fathers his wolf form was black with streaks of silver. A piece of each of them.

Sticking my nose into the air I proceeded down the middle tunnel. I could have been wrong as her scent came from each, likely a diversion for anyone that dared attempt a rescue, but this one was far more potent. Keeping my guard up as we ran through the tunnel it confused me to replace no other demons present. Were these two working alone? Surely not.

The further down we went the air became heavier and warmer making it harder to breathe. Kai's wolf panted beside me as he gasped for air before collapsing. Focusing on my air element I willed it from me watching as a mist spread throughout the tunnel. Taking in a deep breath, Kai nodded in thanks as the air once again filled his lungs. Together we ran to the end of the tunnel stopping in our tracks as we found Daphne sobbing on the ground. Knowing it would frighten her less, Kai shifted back. Her features softened as she recognised him from the night, we rescued them from the rogues.

"Where's Cleo?" He asked her as he snapped the chain around her ankle.

"I don't know. She bit that demon bitch and they both disappeared."

'Get her out of here' Kai nodded to me as I mind linked him before ensuring the rest of the room was in fact empty. Squeezing through the bars in the old, rusted gate I continued my search.
