Cleo's POV

As we made our way to the hospital Roman tried to give me the run down on what happened last night however each word he spoke was drowned out by me puking. Before now I had only been sick once or twice but since waking up this morning I haven't stopped. Everything from smells to bright lights had my stomach churning. I had wanted to walk to the appointment he made but Roman refused. He said that driving would be the quickest option. He wouldn't be wrong however every bump and turn in the road had me feeling worse. I felt as though I was standing on a boat in the middle of the sea as it was rocked and thrown about by relentless waves.

As I stuck my head out the window trying to intake as much air as I could Roman began to rub my back in small gentle circles. I could feel Freya beginning to stir after having been out for a couple of days, her uneasiness bleeding into me. "We'll be there in two minutes, and I'll get the doctor to see you immediately." I could hear the worry in Roman's voice, but it didn't matter. He had gotten me pregnant and now I was suffering so why shouldn't he?

"Don't touch me!" Freya was quick to reply in my place though it was more of a growl than anything. Luckily for him though she hadn't regained her strength and was still quite lucid.

"Cleo?" Feeling another wave of nausea, I just shook my head in response.

As we pulled up out the front of the hospital Roman got out before opening my door. Without giving me a chance to stand he scoped me off the seat and carried me inside. I felt my cheeks become flushed as all eyes landed on us. I wasn't heavily pregnant, and I wasn't in pain either, so there was no reason for Roman to have carried me. With me still in Roman's arms he checked us in at reception and it wasn't long before a nurse called my name. Roman begrudgingly placed me back on my feet as the nurse ushered me into a side room.

"Morning miss Barton, do you mind if I call you Cleo?" Just as I went to speak, I grabbed the bin from beside me once again emptying what remained of my stomach lining. "Oh goddess you are suffering. Here have small sips of this." Accepting the glass of water, I thanked her for her kindness. She wasn't as young as the other nurses I had seen working here which put me slightly at ease. I mean I had nothing against someone with pups treating me, but I knew the older woman that were already mums knew what they were actually talking about. "Right, so my name is Helen and I'm the senior midwife here. I've been bought up to speed by Dr. Holland, and so she had instructed me to take a few samples of your blood if that's ok. Your not afraid of needles are you?" I shook my head. I had once been terrified of them but after getting my second tattoo, it was no longer an issue. "Since your pregnancy is progressing as a slightly faster rate than normal, we will be running some tests today to check for disabilities."

"Disabilities?" Just hearing that word had my body warming and hair standing on end.

"Yes. As werewolves the risk of a foetus developing with a disability is rare, but that isn't to say it doesn't happen. Things that change this could be simple environmental factors or something much more severe. That's why we like to run these tests at around the ten-week window. Now at your last appointment I know you were showing as seven weeks, but it's been a few days, so you are probably slightly past the ten-week window with the way you seem to be progressing. Though we can't make assumptions its best to do the blood work as soon as possible. If we do goddess forbid, replace anything wrong you will still be able to terminate the pregnancy safely if that's what you and your mate choose to do." After filling out the consent form Helen proceeded to take five vials of blood. Roman and I had never discussed the possibilities of our pup having something wrong with them. I for one would love it no matter what, I just hoped that Roman would feel the same. Once that was complete, she had me lay down on the bed so she could conduct a physical examination. "With your permission Cleo I need to have a feel of your tummy. Your last scan showed the pup growing in the correct place so I just need to check it's still the case." Nodding the midwife rolled up my top. Helen's hands were warmer than I expected them to be. Carefully but gently, she applied pressure to areas of my stomach. Some places left me wincing. "It hurts a little when you push there." Helens face instantly dropped making me worry something was wrong.

"Ok. If you can take a seat back in the waiting area, Dr. Holland will call for you when she's ready."

"But the pain, what is it?"

"It's probably just me having pushed too hard." Yet the look on her face said otherwise.

"LIAR" Freya came forwards throwing me backwards into my subconscious forcing me to sit back and watch as she launched herself at the midwife. Having heard the commotion, the door was flung open Roman quickly entering. Having noticed the change in my behaviour he knew Freya had once again taken control.

I watched in horror as Roman tried to restrain her. The fear in his eyes left an unsettling feeling within me. Freya had grown stronger and more feral which worried me. I had never seen this side to her before. What was more worrying was that she was able to overthrow me whenever she wanted. It shouldn't be that way. We were supposed to be two halves of a whole, or in my case three halves. Only Freya had an advantage. She was both demon and wolf, I could feel it.

It took every ounce of energy I had to keep hold on Freya as I desperately tried to pull her back. I needed to be able to prevent her coming forward until we learned why she had suddenly changed. Just as my eyes met Roman's my legs began to feel heavy. Knowing he had likely injected me with the same sedative as before I gripped onto him to prevent myself falling and landing on my pup.

"I've got you love." Roman's arms wrapped around me as he slowly lowered me to the ground. I had expected to fall unconscious but to my shock I stayed very much awake.

"What did you do?" It hurt to speak my throat becoming uncomfortably dry. What ever he had done I would have forgiven him for. I loved Freya, not only because she was a part of me, but because she had always kept me grounded. If Daphne wasn't around to talk sense into me then nine out of ten times Freya would. A pang of guilt weighed down in my chest knowing Freya needed to be locked away, but I couldn't risk her killing anyone else.

"It's a muscle relaxant. My mother had it made in case you didn't agree to the binding. Its only temporary so the effects will soon wear off. I've called for Henrik though because I think it's more important now than ever to have control over your form."

"I don't know if I can go through with it. I won't give up on her Roman, she deserves for me to try."

"I'm not asking you to give up on her. I wouldn't do that because no matter what she is I know she's a part of you. That being said we can't allow her to lose control. I'm sorry Cleo, but I won't allow it." His words sounded so final. Freya also hearing what our mate had said began to whimper. I could feel her confusion as clear as day in mind. She didn't know why she was behaving this way. She feared that the crazy fog would consume her just as she feared our mate would hate us, forced to reject us just to keep the pack safe.

"Roman I think something is wrong with the pup." Trying to take some of the heat from my wolf I changed the subject.

"That's why Freya came forward. This time I felt her intentions though when she pulled me into the passenger seat it was too late." And it was true. Freya could sense something was wrong. Something in Helen's actions irked Freya and out of fear she lost it.

"Roman, Cleo. Please come with me I don't feel this is something we should be discussing out in the open." Roman looked to Dr. Holland before looking back at me. His sight softening after realising he may have acted to quick. Scooping me up off the floor, Roman carried me into Dr. Hollands office. "I understand you are having some issues with your wolf, but you must refrain from violence towards the hospital staff." Lowering my head, I apologised. "Now, I need to give you a scan and check the progress of your pup. Your midwife has alerted me to a sensitive spot on your abdomen when she examined you?"

"Yeh, that's why my wolf became angry. I asked if something was wrong, and she stuttered before giving me some bullshit answer. I get its not down to her to deliver any bad news, but when asked it wouldn't hurt for her to just tell me the truth." Roman took my hand into his lap giving it a hard and reassuring squeeze. His touch alone was able to melt away just a fraction of my worry.

While Dr.Holland began to probe my stomach she immediately froze. For a split second I thought I saw her eyes glaze over before she began to bite her bottom lip. My gaze flickered to where Roman sat his eyes also glazed and foggy confirming they had in fact been mind linking.

"Ok. The pup is certainly growing at an alarming rate, but that's not the most dangerous part. She..."

"Will you just tell m... she?" My own words lodged in my throat as the realisation of her last words hit me.

"Of course, sorry. Yes, your pup is a girl and I do apologise if you hadn't intended on replaceing out the gender. You are measuring sixteen weeks which is more than double of your last gestation. The more worrying part however is that your pup seems to already obtain the ability to shift."
