Figment of Dreams -
Bomb
Lux
It was as if I had dropped a bomb in that bedroom. All four pairs of eyes were on me, all frowning. Jax even stared at his mark again to count the lines. Six lines. Yes.
‘He had a tattoo…’ My voice sounded foreign to me. Still hoarse from all the yelling, crying, and shouting. I had put the dots together as I was being stitched up in that infirmary by Dean. It had hit me like a cold wave of rain. ‘It was a fake.’ I croaked.
It remained eerily quiet. Everyone letting those words sink in deeply.
‘How did he know which mark-’ Oak said.
‘Jax.’ I answered quickly. I figured that out as well. I figured it all out. Jax had been right all along.
It stayed silent again. Everyone looking at me to explain it further. I must admit, it was a difficult long con he had pulled off with me. Elia truly had been a mastermind.
‘He was sent to earth to prospect me.’ At that word, they all flinched deeply. Disgusted with my words. ‘He figured out rather quickly that Jax had been marked.’ I looked up at my former best friend. The only good thing to come out of this was my realization that Jax had always loved me. Even when he had pretended to hate me, he had done everything for my own protection. Yet, I could never forgive him for all that pain. Till the end of my days, I will be scarred because of it. He had done damage to my soul. He was my mate. He was also never going to be with me.
Everything sounded so surreal to my own ears. I had really loved Kai for a long time. Yet, his mother had poisoned him so badly that he would rather see me dead or experimented on. He had been grooming me for over a year.
‘Fuck!’ Ash yelled so loudly next to me as he had the same inner dialogue as me, I flinched. Oak pulled me closer to him and gave him a scathing look as if he had hurt me.
‘Did he tell you anything else?’ Sebastian asked.
‘No, it was Elia who told me most of it. Other parts I had figured out myself. Kai had just made sure I was out there. He had baited me to go to…-.’ I swallowed back the lump in my throat. Go to the place where I was supposed to die.
‘He’s dead.’ Was all Jax said. Pure hate on his tongue.
‘I want his head.’ Growled Ash with as much brutality.
I grabbed his thick arm tightly. ‘No more violence.’ I was serious. This needed to stop. I needed some rest and I needed to be with all of them. With Dominic too.
‘He doesn’t deserve to die. His mom has already died tonight. He has lost his way, but he cares about me. In his own twisted way.’ Everyone flinched again.
‘Yeah, I’m sure.’ Huffed Sebastian. ‘He got you almost killed tonight!’
I closed my eyes. Thinking about Leo. My stomach hurt from all the punches I had received.
‘Can somebody grab my Telvice please.’ I needed to call Dosch. I needed to hear his voice. He was out there killing people for me, to take the reins of Elia’s kingdom.
‘I need some privacy guys, please.’ I could not call him without all the others grunting and having some quarrel with Dominic Rios.
Yet, I loved him. I needed to do this alone. I needed him like I needed the others and now the mating bond was out in the open I finally understood why I felt this way about all of them.
They all just stared at me as if I had grown three heads.
‘I’m serious.’ I added. if this relationship was going to work they needed to thrust me. ‘I need privacy. Please.’
He picked up at the second ring.
‘Carina, are you alright?’ he sounded clipped as if he was not able to talk.
I nodded but then realized he wouldn’t be able to see me. ‘Y-yes… I guess.’ I wasn’t but there was no need to add more stress to his plate.
‘Don’t lie to me, Carina. I can tell.’
I rolled my eyes and huffed. ‘Be careful tonight okay.’
He chuckled. ’You are worried about me? You are the one who almost…died Carina.’ He said it with so much sadness, not even able to say the word ‘died’ that I choked up a bit.
Being not able to be with him was destroying me. I choked up a bit more.
He softly added. ‘Don’t cry Carina. I can’t hear you cry-’
‘It’s o-okay.’ I added through thick tears. ‘I-I understand.’
‘Carina… I…’ it stayed quiet for a few seconds. I heard some shouting in the background.
‘..got to go, okay… be safe. Stay close to Oak alright?’ Somehow the only one he trusted with my life was the big guy.
I grunted my go-ahead and we both put the phone down.
I needed someone next to me right now. I texted Oak since I was in his bed.
He joined me immediately, and I hugged him as best I could with my sore body. He let out this sigh of relief when he thought I was asleep. It warmed me a little bit more.
Even the words he uttered last I heard clearly. ‘But who is the sixth?’
Before I fell into a rough sleep filled with nightmares of Kai and Leo.
