Figment of Dreams
Chapter Fifteen: Rivellin College

I had not ventured far outside the Skylar home yet. I was just about done taking a walk in the forest behind the Maddox estate. Guarded by the head of their bodyguards: Zeal.

It was a very weird outing, since every tree looked way different than on earth, somehow larger and more threatening or maybe it was the weird shimmering of the trunks that did it for me. The birds were even creepier, just scary looking humanlike Robins, with feathers in all colours of the rainbow.

I was back in my room in under half an hour. It was my fourth week away from earth and I was finally semi ready to venture out into this strange planet.

I had not even realised until this moment that I would have an entire new planet to explore. What about their continents? Do they have airplanes, trains and stuff to travel? Oceans? Beaches? I still had many questions.

Kai was walking in front of me to the front lawn of the huge estate which Jax could call home now. His dark blue jeans on, a fitted blue striped shirt and his blue jacket. Black All Stars he still had from his escape from earth.

I spotted Jax and the twins already in front of us. I guess all of us were enrolling in that Rivellin College together. Makes sense since we were also in school together on earth. I guess they had also lost that part of their lives.

The truce between Jax and I was over as quickly as it had begun. I saw that his truce with Kai was still going on though. That silent communication was still a thing. They politely nodded at each other and then went their separate ways again. He didn’t even glance my way.

The grumpy bastard.

‘They are not joining us?’ I asked Kai dumbfounded. Searching for his hand to hold. He saw me searching for it, grabbed my hand and pulled me closer.

‘They are using their teleporter. I don’t want to use that on you yet so we are taking the Helicar.’ He wiggled his eyebrows at me. I was still figuring out what he had just said.

‘Okay… that was not weird at all. So they are teleporting? As in teleporting Battlestar Galactica style?’ he walked me over to another one of those weird looking spaceship cars that we evacuated earth with. Not answering my question.

‘Oh no, not that one again. You aren’t drugging me again are you?’ I protested and tried to let go of his hand. He squeezed my hand and let his thumb caress the back of it.

’Babe, no. That was to get you interstellar. Your body wouldn’t have survived the trip otherwise. We are not travelling that far today.’ He pulled me close. ‘I got you.’ He kissed my nose.

‘You know that right?’

I hugged him back and nodded against his chest. ’Yeah, but still a little wary of you. Lying fucker.’

I playfully pushed him back. He laughed out loud at that.

’Get in grudge.’ He slapped my ass and nearly pushed me in the helicar.

’Did you just call me grudge?’

‘It’s a new nickname!’ he winked and started the engine.

We took off so fast, flying, that I yelped in surprise. I was never going to get used to this.

‘Asshole! A little warning next time please!’ I was holding my hands over my heart in fright because it was going to beat out of my chest anytime soon. All Kai could do at that was chuckle like it was the funniest thing ever.

After about half an hour we arrived at what I assumed was the Rivellin College. It looked like the Disneyland Main Hotel. All pink marble and red roofing, surrounded by crystal blue water and sparkling waterfalls. Behind the main building I could spot several smaller buildings in the same make-up. As well as another one of those weird forests.

‘Home sweet home!’ Kai parked the thing in a huge parking lot next to several other flying Tesla’s ranging from red to yellow and all colours of the spectrum actually.

He opened my door and offered me his hand. I grabbed it and together we walked to the main entrance.

My jaw was hitting the floor. From up close it was even bigger. ‘No way….’ I whispered. ’What a building…’

Kai was loving the shock on my face. ‘I need to get us some Telvices. I need to record your awe at every new thing you’re about the discover.’

I nodded. Not really hearing what he was saying. I guessed a Telvice was some kind of phone around here since I had heard Jax talking about the same thing earlier this week.

I was busy staring at the local ‘insects’ also ten times bigger, who were flying over the three story high water fountain in the lake in front of the main entrance. I was this close to having another panic attack here. I was not doing wasps the size of chihuahua’s, nope, not doing it.

He grabbed my face and softly kissed me. ‘You ready to go inside?’

I patted his shirt and plastered on a fake confident smile as I swept away a stray hair of mine.

‘Let’s do this.’

He kissed my forehead in response and muttered against my head. ‘You know to not let me or Jax out of your sight, right? Definitely in the beginning…’

I looked up at him. Blinking away the sunlight that was somehow directly above us now.

’It’s not that dangerous right… like you and Jax are trying to tell me?’

He put my hair back behind my ears lovingly and was contemplating his next words. A deep frown on his handsome face.

‘It’s not dangerous… but…You are going to really stand out and lots of Rainers will not like that. We are a proud species. Especially the women. Therefore dangerous to you. They don’t really want any competition around here. Rivellin is a town with very few human women. So I feel worried if Jax or I are not there to guard you, okay? Let’s just see how the first few days go. We will re-evaluate afterwards.’

Hands still caressing my cheeks from just having put away my stray hairs, I nodded at him from between his hands. He smiled, satisfied with my answer and pulled me in for a long hug.

’I will not let anything happen to you babe. Never.’
