Figment of Dreams
A shot in the dark (2)

Ash

Chris was still in the operating room. He had been the first one on the scene and had issued first aid on her.

I had been allowed to join her in the helicopter on the way to the hospital.

Oak, Dean, and Skylark have been supporting me in the hospital waiting room. Sebastian came running in, five minutes after we had arrived with Dexar, Olive, and Bronn in tow.

I sat there, shaking like a leaf, from anger, from worry, from impending grief I couldn't begin to process. I couldn’t look beyond this anymore.

My ears were ringing. I would murder whoever did this. I would tear him apart, limb for limb.

Seeing the way Sebastian was clenching his fists and clenching his jaw, he was feeling this too. I never thought I would Mate Share with him of all people, but at this moment, I knew the cocky bastard would have my back when it came to our girl.

Our girl.

I huffed. Oak was patting me on the back. Skylark was crying on Dean’s shoulder.

Lux's blood was already drying on my body, but it was still a part of her, and until I knew she would be alright, I wouldn’t wash it off me. Ever.

After five of the longest hours of my life, Chris came out of the operating room. A dark look was on his face. If he was about to give us bad news, they would have to put me under as well. I couldn’t survive it. My breath shook as I took a few long shuddering intakes of breaths as I rose to meet him.

‘She is out of surgery but she will need to go to intensive care for a while. It looks like she will make it.’

The relief made my knees buckle and Oak and Dean had to be quick to catch me.

My sweet cheeks was going to be alright.
