The second Finn wrapped his arm around me, I felt safe, and warm, and comforted. I hated the feeling, too. I hated that it was with him, and that I was wearing this outfit, and that his muscles teased me beneath his leather jacket and that stupid white t-shirt of his. And yet, I pressed against him and placed my hand on his chest, trying to make it seem as if he had picked me up for the evening.

I felt eyes on us as we emerged from the alleyway and I looked up at him so I wouldn’t look around.

“Those bikes are getting close,” I said with a smile on my face.

He directed me toward his car. “Get in, gorgeous. I got somewhere special to take you for tonight.”

I lowered my voice. “And what if I drove?”

He opened my car door. “Doesn’t matter, get in.”

I paused. “Sorry, but it matters to me.”

He tried to keep his face as stoic as possible. “You took a cab here. Cab number 1460, to be exact. So, if you really want people to know you don’t belong here, then by all means let’s keep arguing over your car that doesn’t exist.”

I sat down in the passenger’s seat after he opened the door for me. “You don’t control my life, just so you know.”

He rolled my eyes before slamming the door closed. And if he thought I couldn’t hear him, he didn’t seem to act like it.

“Trust me, wouldn’t dream of caring enough to try,” he murmured.

And for some reason, his words stung more than they should have.

As the bikes grew closer, Finn rushed to get us the hell off Baron Street. The anger radiating off my skin was so palpable that I could have cooked a meal with it, but Finn didn’t seem to care. He cranked up the engine, pulled out of the parallel parking space and tore down the road.

Before I could stop myself, I opened my mouth again. “It’s just that you walk around thinking you can control me, and I really don’t–.”

“Enough!” Finn yelled.

His voice echoed so hard off the inside of the car that it stunned me into silence. Why was I arguing with him over this? What was it about him that made me so angry? Finn white-knuckled the steering wheel while I gathered my thoughts.

“Look,” I finally said. “I just can’t stand it when someone tries to control what I do.”

“Don’t you think you are doing that when it comes to Summer and Tanner?”

“No,” I said quickly. “I’m just trying to make sure that her and my niece are safe.”

“You do realize she is a grown ass adult right? Summer can make her own choices, and one of those fucking choices is to be with Tanner.”

“She’s making the wrong decision.”

“Will you fucking stop it with the making the wrong decision bullshit? Newsflash Sloane. But you are not Summer. You are not in her situation. You have no fucking idea what it is like to be in her situation.”

“But look what she is involved with Finn!” Sloane yelled. “Look at the illegal shit that she is bringing my niece into.”

“How many times do I have to tell you that we don’t do the illegal shit that the Black Flags do.”

“Says the biker with criminal record,” I said before I could stop myself. The second the words left my lips, I knew I shouldn’t have said them. I quickly looked over to Finn and I watched as he gripped the steering wheel tighter. We sat in silence for a few moments. Finally, Finn spoke.

“I get it, you hate being around me, and trust when I say that I absolutely cannot stand you without a shadow of a doubt. But, it’s my job to make sure you don’t die and it’s also my job to make sure you don’t throw us under the bus for some stupid shit just because you can. I get that you have a job, but so do I, and if you get yourself killed because you’re too prideful to get in a goddamn car when someone tells you to, so you don’t get shot from half a block away, then that’s on me. Got it? Your death means my death, except you’ll actually be dead and I’ll simply be left with nothing except a pot to fucking piss in. So, if you don’t mind, I’m tired of wasting my fucking breath on a girl that I’m honestly not sure even gives a flying fuck about the family she’s trying to save.”

I gasped. “You absolute dick. Of course I care about–.”

Finn slammed on the brakes and growled at me. “Then fucking grow up and act like it, you selfish little–.”

“Go ahead,” I dared. “Call me a bitch. See how that plays out for you.”

Finn took in a deep breath and let it out. “I’ve run enough of these ops with my guys to know that if you don’t put away your own insecurities and issues with your past, you’ll blow your cover in a heartbeat. And before you tell me that you know this because it’s your career or whatever, I’m going to tell you to start acting like it. Because you sure as hell didn’t act like it back in that alley with Beth, whoever the hell she is.”

I whipped my head towards him. “Maybe I say all of those things just to–.”

Finn pinned me with a glare that shocked me and made me shut up instantly. I turned my stare back out the window and sighed, leaving us in silence once more as the revving engines of those bikes faded into nothingness. I crossed my arms over my chest as I thought about what he said. And as much as I hated to admit it, Finn was right. I was sloppy back there. I could have easily gotten us both killed. But I let my ego and pride get in the way.

I furrowed my brow as Finn took a hard turn. “Where are we going?”

Finn chuckled. “Somewhere where I know we can argue without the fear of the Black Flags sneaking up on us.”

I rolled my eyes. “Whatever.”

He snickered. “Yeah, yeah, whatever.”

We wound around this hill, sort of. It wasn’t really a hill, but it wasn’t a mountain, either. Was there such a thing as something in between a mountain and a hill? I wasn’t sure, but it gave me something to think about instead of how despite Finn and I disagreed on almost everything, I still found him more attractive than any other man I had ever been with.

That is, until we got to the top of the mountain-hill and parked.

“Wow,” I whispered.

Finn turned off the engine to the car. “It’s my favorite place to perch in the entire city.”

I looked over at him. “Are we still within city limits?”

He nodded. “Technically, yes.”

I turned my gaze back toward the glittering scene unfolding in front of us. Stars twinkled above the beautiful city that seemed so angelic and ethereal from our perched position. But, Finn getting out of the car pulled me from my trance.

“Hey, what are you doing?” I asked.

He didn’t answer me, though. All he did was close his door and come around to mine before he opened my door. He offered his hand to me and I took it, accepting his help so I could steady myself in these fucking thigh-high boots.

Then, he drew in a deep question. “I’m more inclined to talk about what it is that we’re doing, to be honest.”

I furrowed my brow. “I’m not following.”

He shook his head and leaned against the car. “You are the most infuriating woman I’ve ever come across, you know that? You’re combative. You’re argumentative when there’s no argument to even be had, and you’re stubborn. You think that everyone needs to abide by your rules, otherwise they’re no better than the murderers and crooks you put away for a living.”

My jaw hit the floor. “I don’t think that way.”

He peered down at me. “Then, prove me wrong. Give me one moment where you weren’t treating all of us like that, including your own sister.”

I turned my gaze back out toward the city. “You guys are criminals. That’s different.”

“Is your sister a criminal?”

I scoffed. “She’s about to be if she stays with Tanner long enough.”

“See, this is exactly what I’m talking about. If people don’t walk your thin, straight line exactly as you see fit, you discard them like they’re trash. And yet, I can’t get you out of my mind.”

My eyes widened and I looked back up at him. “What did you just say?”

He gazed deeply into my eyes. “You heard me. Don’t make me repeat myself.”

I swallowed hard. “Like I said before, sometimes I need help seeing the gray area in all of this.”

“Then, let me remind you of just how sweet it can be if you allow it to happen.”

In a flash, his arm wrapped around me and he pulled me against his chiseled body. With my tits pressed against his chest, our lips collided, reminding me of just how wonderful he tasted the first time we ever kissed. I threaded my arms around his neck. His hands migrated to my ass cheeks. He picked me up and sat me against the hood of the car with the twinkling city backdropping our debaucherous antics. His tongue made me shiver as it slid along the roof of my mouth. The calloused palms of his hands spread goosebumps along my thighs as he parted them at my knees.

And when he stepped between them, I felt his raging cock pressing against the dollop of fat between my thighs.

Which caused my mind to go blank with wanton lust.
