Chapter 6

The next day, I threw myself into work, ignoring the mind–link and messages Jared kept sending. I indeed hadn’t told him where I had moved, but as Alpha, he would surely know.

Sure enough, all day long, he sent flowers, gifts, and meals as apologies, but they didn’t sway me. It just made me more disgusted.

That day, instead of going straight to my dorm after work, I decided to get to know the other mentors better. Since I was aware I had spent too much time wrapped up in Jared’s world and had neglected my own social relationship.

They were so happy to get to know more about me. We even went shopping, watched a movie, and ended the evening at a café, chatting about anything and everything. They were nothing like Jared’s friends, who treated me like I was invisible.

How blind I was who never appreciated everything around me before. So, for days, I enjoyed the day with teaching, hangout, and taking my time.”

It seemed that without Jared and Georgia in my life, my troubles seemed to vanish. But just when I thought I could forget about them entirely, George mind–linked me out of the blue.

‘Olivia, when are you coming? We’re all waiting for you.

I was confused and could not help asking, ‘Waiting for me? Why?‘

‘Isn’t it you and Jared who are treating us to dinner? Hurry up, we’re all here waiting.‘

With that, he broke the link. A moment later, he texted me an address and a private room number.

I hesitated. The last thing I wanted was to see Jared, but I realized I needed closure. I needed to break things off cleanly, even if it meant facing him again.

I knew it would affect Serena deeply, but I couldn’t let myself suffer forever. So, I made my way to the address George had sent.

It was a restaurant I had once mentioned to Jared, saying I wanted to try it. The Pack members always raved about how good it was. But Jared had always been too busy, so I had never gotten the chance to go.

As the waiter led me to the private room

never that important to him.

I couldn’t help but wonder in sadness again, I guess I was

Just before entering, I overheard George’s loud voice. He mocked, “Olivia’s got quite the temper, doesn’t she? We had to call her multiple times before she agreed to come. Jared’s tried so hard, yet she still won’t give him a chance. She’s really spoiled.”

Georgia chuckled softly. “Girls are like that. A little temper is normal. Olivia’s just insecure, not fully trusting Jared. She’ll come around eventually.”

Others chimed in, “Honestly, you and Jared are a better match. If Olivia wasn’t his mate, you would be the one by his side.”

“That’s right. I think Jared still likes you, Georgia.”

“It’s true. Look at Georgia, she’s gorgeous, smart, and exquisite, not comparable to Olivia, a border kid.”

Listening to them, something inside me snapped. So, they had all been pretending to be nice to me this whole time. They even supported Jared‘ s affection toward Georgia.

Suddenly Jared’s voice broke my thoughts, saying, “Go on in. Don‘ t just stand there.”

I turned to face him and sneered. “Why should I go in? To hon.
