Flash Marriage: Slow Down Mister -
Chapter 463 Guilt
After knowing the exact location of the village, Clara picked up her purse and rushed out the door. She had to get the money ready. She didn't want Neo to get hurt because she was late. Logan stopped her and said solemnly, "Clara, I can't let you go alone. What if the kidnapper goes back on his words and won't let you go?"
"But he said that if he sees anyone other than me, he will kill Neo. I can't take this risk!" Clara was a bit agitated. Her son was her everything. She couldn't even stand the idea of losing him. She didn't plan to let Horace go with her either. Although 10 million was a big number, she could still afford it by herself. If Horace knew that he had a son, he would never give up custody. Hearing Clara's words, Logan didn't know what to do. He didn't want to put Neo's life on the line. However, he also didn't feel easy about letting Clara face the kidnapper alone. Clara wriggled free of Logan's grasp without hesitation and headed outside. There was nothing she cared about more than her son's safety right now. However, she was stopped at the door by Horace. Seeing the tears on her face, Horace asked worriedly, "Clara, are you okay? Why are you crying? What happened?" "Get out of my way! I'm in a hurry. I don't have time for this. " Clara pushed Horace away and ran forward. However, Horace caught up and stopped her once again.
"Let go of me. What do you think you are doing? I have to go to the bank right now. Stop wasting my time!" She shook off Horace's hand and cried at Horace.
Horace understood how worried Clara must be. She was crying so hard right now. But what on earth happened? Why wouldn't she tell him?
Knowing that Clara wouldn't loosen up no matter how many times he might ask, Horace just kept his mouth shut. He took Clara to his car and said, "Get in the car. I'll drive you to the bank."
All Clara could think about was getting money to save Neo. So, she didn't turn down Horace's offer and opened the car door.
"Clara!" Just when Clara was about to get in the car, Logan stopped her. He was really worried about Clara going to that remote village alone.
Knowing that Clara didn't want Horace to know about Neo's existence, Logan glanced at Horace and said implicitly, "I think it would be better if I go with you. I'll just follow you secretly. If there is any danger, I can come out in time to save you. I can't let you go there alone."
Logan's words made Horace even more anxious. He turned to Clara and asked, "What happened? Where are you going? What danger? What is he talking about?"
Clara ignored Horace's questions and said, "Logan, don't. Just to be safe. I can't afford to lose..."
Clara stopped, didn't want Horace to hear what she was about to say. She thought about it and continued, "How about this. Logan, why don't you do some investigation about this kidnapper? We'll keep in touch. If there is any danger, I will call you immediately and let you know my location."
After weighing it for a short moment, Logan nodded and agreed, "Okay. Just promise me that you will call me immediately if there's anything wrong."
"I promise." Clara nodded. Then, she got into the car and asked Horace to take her to the bank. Just then, a voice sounded from behind.
"Mr. Kirkland!"
The three turned around at the same time and saw Isaac walking their way.
Isaac just called Horace to tell him what exactly happened years ago. After learning that Horace was at the Hutchinson family residence, he decided to come over, hoping to help Clara and Horace resolve their misunderstanding in person.
However, when he really came face to face with Clara and Horace, he didn't know where to start. "They seem to be in a hurry. What happened?" Isaac wondered.
"Isaac, you're here just in time. Logan has to do some investigation. Please stay and help him," Horace ordered before Isaac could say anything. Although he didn't know what Clara and Logan were hiding from him, Horace still wanted to be of help.
Noticing that there were still tears on Clara's face, coupled with what Horace just told him, Isaac couldn't help but ask curiously, "Mr. Kirkland, Mrs. Kirkland, may I know what happened?"
"You don't need to know," Clara replied, then turned to look at Horace. "We really have to go to the bank now. This is urgent."
"Isaac, just do whatever Logan tells you to," Horace instructed again. With that, he hurried to the driver's seat and started the car.
Watching the car zooming off, Isaac asked Logan, "Is there anything I can help you with?"
Logan sneered, "No, how do I dare to bother you. My people will handle this. You can go back and tell Horace Kirkland to drop his fake gallantry. We all know very well what he did to Clara back then! He had the heart to hurt Clara so badly. Why is he pretending to care about her now!"
"Mr. Kirkland didn't do those things to Mrs. Kirkland. It was..." Hearing Logan angrily accusing Horace, Isaac was struggling to consider whether he should tell Logan about what really happened back then. Laura wouldn't be out any time soon. Horace would replace out about the truth sooner or later. Moreover, the guilt inside was eating Isaac up. Every time he saw Clara, he would become so nervous that his heart would race.
Logan thought that Isaac was guilty, so he asked, "He didn't? You were the one who took Clara to the hospital. And he is your boss. Who else could it be? Who can order you around except for him! What's done cannot be undone. There's no use speaking for him now!"
"I......." Although he had made up his mind a second ago, Isaac was still a little hesitant when he was really about to confess the evil he did. He didn't know where to start.
Sensing that the conversation might not go anywhere with Isaac's hesitance, Logan snorted, walked past him, and left. At the thought of what Horace just told him, Isaac hurriedly got in the car and followed Logan.
