Flash Marriage: Slow Down Mister -
Chapter 561 Years Ago
"You mean..." Clara could roughly guess what happened back then, but she wasn't one hundred percent sure.
Horace nodded, indicating that her guesses were right. Seeing that, Clara was stunned.
"What are you planning to do about it?" Clara looked at Horace and asked.
Sean was still Horace's biological brother after all.
But Horace definitely wouldn't let Sean off that easily this time.
"Report it to the police. He will face death penalty or life imprisonment."
Horace now knew that some people would never learn how to spell the word "gratitude". If he let Sean off this time, Sean would most definitely destroy his life all over again after he got out of jail. Horace wouldn't allow the tragic history to repeat itself.
"Well, that's actually a good idea."
Clara nodded. She felt that Horace's handling of this affair was probably for the best.
"What are you doing here?" Horace dropped his stern look, sat down on the couch with Clara in his arms, and asked softly.
"I have something to tell you."
"He now knows about what Sean did. What will he do if he knows about Laura's legs? Should I tell him? I probably should. He has every right to know."
Clara thought.
"Laura can walk now," she said.
Hearing that, a quick suspicion flashed across Horace's eyes. But Clara didn't catch it.
"How did you know?"
Horace had informants everywhere and nobody brought up a thing about it. Clara stayed at home almost every day. How did she know about that? "Isaac told me about this when you were in the coma.
Then, I went to the nursing home today and saw her walking with my own eyes,"
Clara replied.
"You know Laura lives there. Why didn't you call the police?"
The police were also after Laura because of the crime she had committed back then. If she called the police, Laura would get the punishment she deserved. "I'm here to discuss with you what to do."
Clara just wanted to replace out if Isaac told her the truth about Laura's legs earlier.
She went to replace Horace immediately after she caught Laura walking out of the nursing home. It never crossed her mind that she should call the police. "Okay, we'll go with the police tomorrow. I want to be there when Laura gets arrested."
Clara thought about it for a while and felt that it would be better to send Laura to jail in case she would do something detrimental to them again. They had to get rid of her as soon as possible.
"Okay,"
Horace answered after pondering for some time. Since he had nothing urgent to address tomorrow, he agreed to go with Clara's plan.
Neo threw himself into Clara's embrace when she returned home.
"Mom, you're back. Finally! Where's dad?" Neo asked since he didn't see Horace entering through the door with Clara.
Contrary to three months before, Neo's animosity against Horace was now almost entirely gone.
"So daddy treated mommy like that to protect her. I was wrong about him then."
Neo really disliked the way Horace treated Clara three months ago. He even disliked Horace back then.
Neo believed that Horace was so cold to Clara simply for his own selfish reasons.
He had been discreetly observing how Clara was being treated by Horace at the time. He wanted to stick up for his mommy but just wasn't sure how.
One day, he overheard the conversation between Horace and Clara at the hospital.
Neo sobbed and apologized to Horace after learning the real reason why Horace treated Clara that way.
Neo was also wretched to see his parents' relationship broken like that. ...
He was relieved when he found out that his parents were just faking it.
As a result, Neo now even liked Horace more than before.
That was why when he noticed that Clara had not returned with Horace, he instantly questioned Clara where his dear daddy had gone.
"He has some business-related issue to deal with. He'll be back before you know it."
After leaving Horace's office, Clara intentionally took a detour and went for a walk before heading back home.
Therefore, she also had no clue why Horace hadn't come back yet.
But Clara thought that Horace most likely wanted to take care of all his work ahead of time so he could go with her as the police arrested Laura tomorrow. Horace still hadn't returned even after Clara and Neo finished dinner. Clara grew worried so she gave Horace a call.
"What's wrong?"
Horace said, sounding a bit tired.
"Where are you?" Clara asked.
"I'm almost home," Horace replied.
Hearing that, Clara nodded and hung up the phone. As he said on the phone, Horace really came back minutes later.
But when Horace got home, Neo was already fast asleep.
"What took you so long?" Clara furrowed her eyebrows as she watched Horace walk in.
In her memory, Horace had never come home this late. What slowed him down today?
"Business stuff. Sean is trying to make trouble for me. I have to get rid of him as soon as possible."
Horace couldn't take it anymore. This Sean could still replace a way to stir the pot even when he was in jail.
It was time for Sean to learn his lessons.
That was why Horace got home so late tonight.
"Okay. Go wash up then. It's getting late." Horace's words made Clara a little uneasy. She felt bad that Horace had to handle all of this by himself.
She felt useless for not being able to help.
Horace sensed Clara's sudden mood change. He hugged Clara to comfort her.
Soon, Clara drifted to sleep in Horace's arms.
When Clara woke up the next morning, Horace was already making breakfast in the kitchen.
They usually woke up around the same time in the morning. But today, Horace woke up early and made her breakfast.
"He barely caught any sleep last night. Isn't he tired?"
Clara thought to herself. However, all the doubts and questions dispersed when she saw his energetic face.
Horace was a fully-functioning adult. No one knew his physical condition better than himself.
"Come on. Time for breakfast."
Horace served the last dish to the table, then looked at Clara expectantly.
It was the first time he had ever cooked this dish, so he didn't know how it tasted.
He wanted to see Clara's reaction when she tried it.
"Yummy."
Clara commented after taking a tentative bite. Horace's cooking skills had improved a lot.
"Have some more then."
Horace gently pinched Clara's nose, then sat with her at the table.
