Flight of Fancy -
Chapter 6
There really wasn’t any reason to worry about getting time away from his wife. The opportunity presented itself. It was quite simple, really. Some wood needed to be cut down for the Winter, so he said he would do it. The wife said she wanted to go with him, but he said there was no need and she accepted gladly. He had a sneaking suspicion that she didn’t want to stay out in the cold for too long.
Or maybe she needed a break from him?!
God knows they’d been spending enough time together.
He didn’t anticipate, however, that his father would want to come along and wouldn’t take no for an answer. The father was still afraid for his son and doubted his competence.
After arguing his case for a long time and explaining that the elderly father would just get in the way (it was a young man’s game after all), his father relented. He also had to use the lack of trust card, which the father denied feverishly. Luckily, the mother was there and talked the father round to seeing his son’s point of view.
So, it was all set. In a few days he would be able to start building whatever it was he was building. He needed to buy the necessary supplies first, probably from local junkyards and villagers. It was mostly junk that was needed anyhow.
