Crimson raised an eyebrow, "Guess I'll have to trouble Mr. Connor."

"It's no trouble at all."

Connor gave a slight nod and followed someone to the kitchen.

"He's really good to you," Crimson said, resting her chin on her hand as she watched Connor leave, clicking her tongue.

Connor had a significant status, yet here he was, willing to cook for Flora.

Flora chuckled, "Well, he is my fiancé. Of course, he'd be good to me."

Crimson clicked her tongue again. "Such a blow to all the single folks out there."

"Alright, lie down and chat." Flora placed the bowl of porridge on the bedside table and tucked away the small table. "Doesn't sitting up hurt your back?" "Yeah, a bit."

Crimson lay down comfortably.

"Have all the major forces left?" she asked.

Flora nodded, "Yep."

Crimson chuckled, "Flora, you're impressive."

"Susan is still locked up. Once you're better, you can deal with her yourself."

"I'll make sure to get well."

Crimson's tongue pressed against the inside of her cheek, a wicked smile spreading across her face. She needed to recover to have the strength to confront Susan. Flora chatted with Crimson for a bit longer before Connor returned with the porridge.

Connor's cooking was truly something else. Even with a simple bowl of white porridge, he managed to make it taste extraordinary. Crimson downed two big bowls in no time. After eating, Crimson felt sleepy and curled up under the blankets to sleep.

Flora went to check with the doctor about Crimson's condition. Once reassured she was fine, Flora finally felt at ease.

"Mr. Atticus is planning to leave with

his disciples, but Lance and the

others have stopped them," Connor

said, holding Flora's hand and slipping it into his coat pocket. "Should we let them go?"

"Yeah, let them go. We can't keep them here forever."

Besides, she had already achieved her goal.

"Hand me Atticus's apology letter."

Connor handed her the letter.

Holding Connor's hand, Flora walked to another room, opened her laptop, and typed in a URL. The webpage redirected to a joint network.

She logged into her account,

uploaded a photo of the handwritten letter, and clicked send. After a few quick keystrokes, she looked at the screen content, satisfied with the result.

Closing the laptop, Flora's phone buzzed. It was a message from Shawn.

Shawn: Flora, aren't you coming to the lab today?

Flora realized it was already Tuesday.

Flora: I won't be in today. Got something on. I'll be there on time tomorrow.

Shawn hesitated before replying: Flora, is everything okay? You seldom take days off. Flora: It's just a minor thing.

Relieved, Shawn replied: Alright, I'll let Dr. Ray know. If you need anything, let me know!

Flora sent an okay and turned off her phone.

"Feeling like a nap?" Connor asked gently, noticing her tired face.

"Yeah, I'm sleepy," Flora said,

wrapping her arms around his waist and resting her head on his

els

midsection, her voice soft and a bit coquettish.

Connor carried her to bed, intending to pull his hand away, but Flora grabbed it.

She closed her eyes, her voice barely above a whisper, "Stay with me, please?"

"Of course, I'll be right here," Connor said, adjusting to a comfortable position for Flora. "Now, get some rest."
