For Better And For Worse -
Chapter 49
Prison.
Krist and Isabelle spent some time briefly discussing everything that had happened to them. I couldn’t spend time on it but it was a really emotional moment. He also chatted for a while with Stella before the time came for the end of the visit for him. He says goodbye to them before being taken back to the cell. Even though they couldn’t touch each other, seeing each other did them a lot of good. Isabelle and Stella return home while Krist and Aristide were talking.
Aristide: so who was it?
Krist: it was my wife, I got to see her finally Ary, I’m so happy. How to explain this?
Aristide: I’m happy for you Krist, it’s about time.
Krist: I saw that she is worse than me Aristide, plus that she is harassed all the time by that damn doctor. My wife is all alone among predators.
Aristide: she is not alone my brother, God is with her. And God is able to get you out of any complicated situation.
Krist: Well, let him be with her as long as necessary. As for me, I have to meet the director.
Aristide: don’t tell me you’re going to give in to Bayoko’s demands?
Krist: If I have no other choice.
Aristide: Are you not going to kill this poor guard?
Krist: I don’t know yet Ary, I’m still thinking about other ways.
A FEW DAYS LATER.
After this visit, Isabelle spoke about it to her family as well as her in-laws. This is how, during the week, Krist received a visit from his parents as well as his mother-in-law. The latter asked Krist for forgiveness for all the harm he had suffered and he did not hesitate to forgive her. Séverin is trying to get along with Claire so he hasn’t come to see Isabelle. On the other hand, Commander Léon continues to ignore the traceable tag until he decides to put an end to it today. He breaks the tag tonight.
Fountain bar.
Prosper loses the signal from Léon’s tracker and warns Corneille who joins him.
Prosper: the tracker no longer emits any signal.
Corn: Shit! How come ?
Prosper: either he found it, or he washed his garment and it was destroyed in the water. Regardless, if he found it, he would be really angry.
A few minutes later, Léon arrives in the bar angry. The sun had already set. Prosper sees him in the bar and warns Corneille. Léon goes to the room where he met him the first time.
Léon: I want to speak to your boss immediately.
The guards don’t allow him so he tries to force things. This is where Corneille arrives.
Corn: What wants me?
Léon rushes at him and grabs him by the collars. His men wanted to come but he motioned for them to stay quiet.
Leon: were you kidding me?
Corn: What’s wrong, calm down and explain to me?
Léon: can you explain that to me?
He shows her the beacon.
Corn: Ah that! It looks like a tracker.
Leon: Have you been spying on me this whole time? If you didn’t want me to work for you, just fire me.
Corn: calm down, don’t panic. It was just a precaution. Now I know I can trust you. Follow me !
Léon: Where am I following you?
Corn: Do you want to work for me yes or no?
Léon decides to follow him. They enter through the door behind a curtain of the room where they were and they arrive in the basement. Léon was amazed, at least he pretended to be. Leon could see people taking drugs. Corneille takes him to a room filled with cocaine and people who prepare it.
Léon: name of God, it’s the goose that lays golden eggs you have there!
Corn: I’m not telling you. We receive a larger shipment than this as soon as the stock runs out.
Léon: oh yes, where does it come from?
Corn: from Mexico mate.
Léon: Gosh, how do you manage to get all this across in this country?
Corn: Everyone loves money bro.
Léon: we agree on that. Who is your supplier?
Corn: That’s not the most important thing for you right now. Do you want to taste ?
Leon: no thank you. I prefer to abstain and let consumers consume.
Corn: You’re right. Okay, take this (money), go back and have a beer. We’re going to get the bags ready. When the others come, you can pick them up.
Léon: very good, see you later. Sorry for offending you earlier.
Corn: It’s nothing.
Léon goes back up and has a beer. A few moments later, Jeff arrives and Léon joins him to thank him. At the usual time, they go down to the basement to collect the bags containing drugs. They all exit through another door. Léon always played surprised. Once outside, everyone goes their own way to deal. Leon calls John.
John: Hello!
Léon: hi John, today I was integrated into the group that deals Gauthier’s drugs. You’re not going to believe me, there are around twenty of us and there is a huge quantity of drugs stored in the basement of the bar.
John: damn then!
Léon: Would you like to play vigilante again? Some people need to be stopped.
John: Okay, I think it’s necessary.
Léon: very good, two went to the Caravelle bar, one is wearing black jeans and a blue t-shirt. He carries a brown backpack; the other wears blue jeans, gray Lacoste and a black backpack; you have to trap them there!
John: Okay, I’ll go there immediately.
John puts on tight black pants, wears a black sweater with hat, takes a muffler and goes to his mission. Once in the caravel bar, he takes off his hat and searches inside in vain. He goes out and searches in dark corners. He sees two people doing business. He approaches closer and notices that it is one of them so he attacks them and grabs the backpack containing the drugs, leaving his owner in a bad state. He continues his search and comes across the other. He attacks her and also gets her bag. After that, he takes the bags to Léon’s house and gives them to him. They talk for a while before going their separate ways. The two attacked guys return to the fountain bar and explain the situation to Corneille. This frees them so that they can seek treatment. He then joins Prosper.
Corn: search everywhere, I want to know who this vigilante is who is starting to hinder us.
Prosper: no media, no newspaper has spoken of a vigilante boss, nor any testimony, he is discreet.
Corn: keep looking, as soon as you have any information, let me know.
Prosper: yes boss.
Tomorrow morning, Léon goes to the anti-drug brigade and reports to Commander Boris by giving him the bags of drugs.
Boris: that’s excellent commander, I think we’re getting closer to the goal. THANKS.
Leon: Don’t thank me yet. There is still a long way to go.
Boris: obviously!
He leaves.
Prison.
This morning, the prison director receives a call from Bruno (Gauthier).
Hector: hello sir!
Bruno: can you explain to me why Krist is still alive?
Hector: There was a little problem sir.
Bruno: what was that?
Hector: he knows how to fight.
Bruno: hire more men and get rid of him.
Hector: okay sir. You would have to transfer the money to me so that I can pay them.
Bruno: it will be done immediately.
Hector: Thank you.
He hangs up and transfers the money to her. The director therefore asks a guard to bring Giscard.
Hector: I have a favor to ask you, a paid service.
Giscard: what should I do?
Hector: eliminate 8747.
Giscard: why?
Hector: It’s none of your business. Just be happy with your task.
Giscard: I can’t.
Hector: what?
Giscard: I promised him my help and my protection. I’m sorry.
Hector: you have a very beautiful wife 8010, I think her name is, who again, Olivia is it? And your daughter’s name is Sandrine, isn’t it? Do they matter to you?
Giscard: no, you don’t have the right.
Hector: their life, or the life of 8747. The choice is yours. You have until tomorrow.
Giscard was taken back to his cell. He thinks and decides to save his family’s life.
On the other hand, in the afternoon, Bruno, being in his office, receives a call from Corneille.
Bruno: yes Corn.
Corneille: boss, I think we have a problem.
Bruno: what kind of problem?
Corn: someone who takes a particular interest in our affairs. Someone who wants to see us fall.
Bruno: who?
Corn: No idea, he’s a vigilante. This is the second time he has attacked my men.
Bruno: tell Prosper to look for information on him and take care of him.
Corn: That’s the whole problem. Its existence is still unknown.
Bruno: be careful and try to corner him.
Corn: yes boss.
Prison.
That night, Giscard asks to speak to the director. The guard therefore brings him to him.
Hector: you decided quickly!
Giscard: I accept. Starting tomorrow, you won’t hear any more about 8747.
Hector: There you go, you see, it’s as simple as that.
He was taken back to the cell.
Giscard: I hope you can forgive me Krist.
