For Better And For Worse -
Chapter 57
Today, there is no work in almost all services except illnesses and births which do not know holidays. December 24 in prison doesn’t look like a day of celebration. Krist could give anything to go out and see his wife, celebrate with her, but it was impossible. He walks in circles in his cell. He sits down and looks at the photo of his wife.
Aristide: I understand how you feel my brother, but there is no other choice.
Krist: oh shit!
He hits the bed.
Meanwhile, at Hector’s home, Claire didn’t know how to go about seeing Krist. The only way she can see him is if he’s injured badly enough to be admitted to the infirmary, but that hasn’t been the case for some time. He was thinking of an evil plan, to have him beaten up but if Krist replaces out, he will hate her even more. But then how to approach it? She can’t replace an answer.
Krist’s home.
Stella was still very affected by what she had seen yesterday to the point of almost being sick. She was sitting sad in the living room when her phone rang but she refused to answer. Célestin calls three times and drops it. He goes to the hair salon but doesn’t replace her so he goes to her house. He rings the doorbell, Isabelle gets up to open it.
Stella: please, if it’s him, tell him I’m not here.
Isabelle goes to open it and indeed it was him.
Célestin: hello!
Isabelle: hello master! Between !
He comes in and she takes him to the living room. Stella had gone to the bedroom.
Célestin: I went to see your husband yesterday, he asked me to tell you that he and you are together for the party.
Isabelle: I too keep him in my heart and in my mind.
Célestin: otherwise, Stella is not here, I called her in vain.
Isabelle: no, she went out.
Célestin: okay, I’m going to have to leave.
Isabelle: ok, I’ll tell him you stopped by.
Célestin understood that the atmosphere was not like before.
Célestin: what’s going on?
Isabelle: what do you mean?
Célestin: I don’t know, it seems like I disgust you?
Isabelle: no, it’s just that it’s the first time that I’m going to celebrate without my husband and that confuses me a little.
Célestin: I understand. Bye !
Isabelle: I’ll take you home.
She takes him home and he leaves.
In the provinces.
Séraphin had a wonderful reunion with his family. Today they prepared everything for the party. He then calls his twin brother to warn him that everything is ready. Célestin makes him understand that he will be there tomorrow. Séraphin then calls his friend Clarisse who is also busy preparing for the party. He apologizes for not being able to be there to celebrate the 24th with her.
Krist’s home.
After she left, Isabelle’s mother came to spend some time with her daughter before returning. In the afternoon, Séverin calls Isabelle.
Isabelle: hello!
Séverin: hello Isabelle, I wonder if you will be available for us to go out this evening?
Isabelle: no, sorry I can’t. I’m going to go to the vigil at the church.
Séverin: I know but can we go there after the party?
Isabelle: no, I can’t. Besides, Stella isn’t feeling well so I can’t leave her alone. Sorry !
Séverin: okay, see you tomorrow for the party.
Roger’s home.
Doctor Roger didn’t make any party decorations in his house. All he had on his mind was how to convince Isabelle to celebrate with him, knowing that she is not at all an easy woman to have. However, he has a wife who loves him and who has complete confidence in him. She chats with him.
Clémence: darling, do you remember today’s date?
Roger: of course, it’s December 24th.
Clémence: I’m not talking about that, do you remember what makes her special for us?
Roger: no, I don’t see anything that makes it special.
Clémence: um, darling, it was on December 24 during an unforgettable evening that you proposed to me.
Roger: ah, I remember that now.
Clémence: I would like this evening to renew our vows.
Roger: for what? We’re already married, right?
Clémence: ok, if you don’t want to, that’s fine. Actually, what’s happening to you?
Roger: everything is fine darling, it’s just that I’m overloaded with work.
His phone rings.
Roger: Speaking of work, here’s someone calling me.
He responds and rushes to the hospital.
Krist’s home.
Isabelle hears the doorbell ring and she goes to open it. She brings in Pastor Arsène and serves him a drink. They spend some time talking and the pastor helps him to further strengthen his faith. Isabelle receives a call from Doctor Roger and takes the pastor home. She then warns Stella and goes to the hospital.
Hospital.
Once she arrived at the hospital, Isabelle realized that there was no real emergency. Doctor Roger joins her in his office.
Isabelle: doctor, why did you call me?
Roger: I just wanted to see you and give you this gift for the party.
Isabelle: I don’t want your gift.
Roger: Please at least accept the gift I’m giving you even if you don’t like me. It is still the birth of the Lord Jesus, the promoter of love and the savior of the world.
So she takes the gift and opens it at the doctor’s request. She was shocked by the gift, a white colored bikini.
Isabelle: what, are you offering me a bikini?
Roger: yes, I would like to see you in it tonight Isabelle.
She throws the underwear on him.
Isabelle: you are completely sick, doctor.
Roger: it’s you who makes me sick Isabelle and it’s only you who can cure me. Please wear this and agree to go out with me.
Isabelle: in your dreams.
She leaves him and leaves the office to leave. She comes straight home.
Fountain bar.
Today is Christmas Eve, Corneille has doubled the quantity of drugs usually sold for each seller and asks them to watch out for the vigilante. Once they leave to deal, Léon calls John and informs him of what is happening. So John dresses up in his vigilante outfit and takes to the streets looking for drug dealers. That evening, he attacked several groups including Léon so as not to give the impression that he was in cahoots with the vigilante. But he left Léon’s drugs to make people believe that he was stronger than him. Several dealers return to the bar empty-handed, except Léon with a few bruises. He makes his report.
Corn: What happened?
Léon: he took me by surprise and he managed to disarm me. So we fought but I was stronger than him. When I picked up my gun from the ground to shoot him, he disappeared and he couldn’t have taken my drugs.
Corn: Have you seen his face?
Léon: unfortunately no!
Corn: You idiots, you’re making the boss lose merchandise and he’s not going to be happy. He will be very angry.
Léon: I thought you were the boss.
Corn: Well no.
Léon: so, I take risks for a stranger?
Corn: Maybe you want to throw in the towel?
Léon: no, of course not, this job is all I have.
Corn: no one comes in today, you’re going to go back and sell.
So he loads their bags again and sends them back to deal again.
Church.
Meanwhile, Isabelle and Stella were at church on Christmas Eve. The church was full of people. The people sang, praised and worshiped the Lord. A sermon was given and games could begin. There are faithful who perform sketches, others who perform songs, still others who perform dances, all to the glory of God. The clock struck midnight on December 25, the day of the birth of the savior of the world. The timer was counted down to 10 seconds instead. When it struck midnight sharp, the faithful shouted with joy in honor of the child Jesus. They were cheering and singing. Isabelle and Stella decide to return after midnight, at 1 a.m. precisely.
Meanwhile, Séverin and Claire were out together and spend the whole evening eating, drinking and dancing. He drops her off at midnight before going home. Doctor Roger, for his part, had refused to go out with his wife that evening, he was acting sick so Clémence was forced to spend her evening at church with her children. They also return at midnight. As for Bruno and Florence, they had a wonderful evening together, they were the best couple of the evening. Célestin for his part was not in the mood because he did not replace Stella, neither on the phone, nor physically. So he spends his evening at home.
Prison.
During the vigil, Krist and Aristide praised the Lord and prayed a lot. On the morning of December 25, they did their meditation before Krist returned to the gym. He wishes his friends Merry Christmas and works out. After training, they will eat before returning to their cells.
Outside, the party is going well for some and badly for others. Stella didn’t want to celebrate at all, neither did Célestin because he still hasn’t heard from Stella. Neither does Isabelle, but she goes to church anyway. After the service, she returns and brings Stella to her parents’ house where they celebrate well.
Séverin and Claire were still obliged to celebrate together, of course, as friends. Séraphin is also having a wonderful family celebration. Célestin had to join his family to celebrate with them. But his mind occupied by the joy of the party, Séraphin did not warn his brother of Stella’s visit the other day.
In the afternoon, Isabelle decides to visit Krist to wish him a Merry Christmas. Krist was very happy to see her and so was she. As a Christmas present, she gives him a small locket inside which he replaces a photo of her. He compliments her, thanks her and asks her for news about Stella. Isabelle teaches her what she is going through at the moment. He became angry with Célestin when he heard this news. Isabelle comes home later and Krist’s parents take her place. They check on him and wish him a Merry Christmas before leaving. Krist was still happy because the people he loves were there for him. Aristide’s brother also did not forget to visit him, as did Léo’s mother. So the day had gone well everywhere and it was the end of Christmas day.
