Chapter 27
Josh’s voice had turned hoarse by the end.
Natalie looked away, obviously rattled by the whole exchange
After a moment, Josh’s expression grew more intense. He leaned in for another kiss and murmured, “It doesn’t matter. I’ll work on making you hate to leave me.
Those words took up residence in Natalie’s head, melting her heart just a bit.
She finally came back to her senses. Then she gently pushed Josh back and hurried toward the building, Josh watched her go, a smile playing on his lips.
In the Lamborghini parked nearby, Brian and Jennifer had front–row seats to the whole scene.
“Brian, Natalie seems to love her husband very much, Jennifer commented.
“Brian bit his lip, hands clenched on the steering wheel–knuckles white, telltale veins popping out, a sure sign of his boiling envy.
Jennifer besitated before adding. I always figured Natalie got hitched on the rebound. But they look serious, and I’m relieved. By the way, did you replace out who the

“Not yet, Brian admined, and his ignorance
A smirk curled Jennifer’s lips. To her, Natalie had probably just snagged some rich guy.
They watched until the Maybach was out of sight. “Ready to head up! Brian finally said.
“Sure,” Jennifer replied, a crafty grin shaping her mouth. Then, right as Brian was about to get out, she threw her arms around his neck and planted a kiss on his lips. “Let’s go upstairs.”

Jennifer and Brian were at the center of attention. It seemed that the HR director was presenting them with their appointment letters.

“Check her out, someone snorted. “She got dumped at the altar, and here she is, acting like nothing happened.”
Another chimed in. “She blew a perfect match, What high–class family would take her now”
“Looks like Jennifer’s the real deal; got the high–class upbringing and snatched the engagement to boot, another voice said, tinged with jealousy. Brian caught Natalie’s eye, his mind flashing back to the kiss he just saw downstairs, and his emotions were a jumbled mess,
Jennifer, noticing Natalie, feigned surprise. “What a coincidence, Natalie! You’re here too.”
“Yeah, Natalie replied, her voice cool and detached.
Jennifer’s smile faltered, but she quickly recovered. “I heard you got married. How come Brian and I didn’t get an invite? Who’s the lucky guy? We haven’t heard a peep about him.”
Jennifer thought dismissively, “He must be a nobody.
Brian frowned at her words,
Jennifer looked up at Natalie as she shared her own news. “By the way, I’m going to work at Brian’s company. He’s making me the deputy CEO, so well be quite the team.”

Natalie raised her eyebrows.
The room was filled with a heavy mix of relief and perhaps a touch of envy. They all seemed convinced that Brian loved Jennifer very much.
Some people sighed, “How wonderful! They’re sisters. Natalie’s got skills, but Jennifer is the whole package–wealthy background and all. She’s probably even more talented than Natalie, with better education and a keener eye for design.”
“Rumor has it Jennifer spent a year mastering design psychology in Moranta, She’s definitely got an edge over Natalie…
“Now that Jennifer’s with us, I’m sure she’ll breeze through any design issues. Really, keeping Natalie as a manager is generous of Mr. Sherman. No need to waste an important position on someone who’s not cut out for it.”
“Not cut out for it? Natalie muttered to herself. Everybody flattered Natalie when they needed her. And now, they didn’t hold back their harsh words
