Gamma Jose Gomez - POV

I walked into the backyard and to the edge of the forest before I answered the call. “What took you so long?” Elena asked me in her usual carefree tone.

“I was busy training, so it took me a while to realize that the phone was ringing.” I lied, and I heard her hmmed.

“Oh, anyway, I called to ask you if you could come to stay with me for the weekend?”

“Um, Elena, you know what we agreed upon before I came here, right?” I asked her, and I heard her let out a sigh.

“I know, but I really need you here, Jose. I have arranged for the cake tasting this weekend, and I want you here with me. I know it is a lot to ask, but…”

“Where are you planning to order the wedding cake from?” I asked her.

“Do you remember, you would always bring me desserts from this one bakery at your pack? Well, I spoke to the owner there, and she told me that we can come for some cake tasting this weekend,” she answered in excitement, and I didn't have the heart to deny her request.

“You need to clear your head and decide whom you want, Jose. You are only hurting them both by leading them on.” Carlos told me, and deep down, I knew that he was right.

“I will think about that later, Carlos. We still have two more weeks till I have to completely leave this pack, and tell Adella the truth.” I told him, and he shook his head at me before he disconnected our mind link.

“Jose, are you still there?” Elena’s voice brought me back to the problem at hand.

“Yes, well, I will come to my pack this weekend. Maybe you can come and stay with me there.” I asked her.

“Sure,”

“Okay, I will see you later then,” I told her before the line was disconnected. I was getting stressed out with playing a two-time game in here, but I didn't have the heart to leave Adella for Elena, and I am not so sure about my feelings towards Elena either.

When I turned around, I saw Summer standing near the doorway with her eyes narrowed down at me. Did she hear us speaking? I started getting apprehensive, but then, I knew it must be impossible to hear me from this distance.

I made sure I had a blank look on my face before I started walking towards her. When I reached the doorway, I expected her to step aside to let me in, but she stayed rooted to her spot. “Can I speak to you for a second, Gamma Gomez?” Summer asked me, and I nodded my head. “I know I shouldn't be suspicious about you, but something within me is telling me you are not right.”

“What did I do to make you feel that way, Summer?” I asked her, dreading her answer. Did she hear me speak to Elena?

“I don't know. Maybe, you can tell it is my gut feeling, but I have a humble request from you, Gamma Gomez.” she began, and this made a frown appear on my face. “Adella has seen a lot of rejection in her life. And I am pretty sure that she has not shown you her true side.”

“What are you talking about?”

“You only see the happy-go-lucky girl, Gamma Gomez. But I know that she is not. She has been deeply affected by all the incidents that happened in the past, leaving a permanent scar, and this is the first time that I have seen her genuinely happy, and that is because of you.” Summer said, and this made a smile appear on my face. “And I don't want you to ruin it for her. Because I don't think she can withstand another rejection. I don't want my friend broken into millions of pieces.”

“I will…”

“I saw you getting nervous and secretive when you got the call. And honestly speaking, I don't know what you are hiding, but please make sure you don't hurt her in any way. If you have any idea of leaving her, do it now, at least I still have the time to fix the broken pieces.” she spat out, and I heard the venom in her voice.

She gave me one last warning look before she walked inside. I stayed outside for a couple of minutes to compose myself before I walked in. When I entered the living room, I noticed that Adella and Summer were busy going through various magazines. “You came back,” Adella said when she noticed me standing there, she walked towards me, intervened our hands, and pulled me inside.

“You know how long werewolf pregnancies are, right?” Adella asked me, and I nodded my head. Well, the pregnancy only lasts for six months since werewolf babies grow faster than humans. But this can be an exception for an Alpha’s mate since their pregnancy will only last for four or five months.

“Yes, but why are you worried about that?”

“Well, we have to do a baby shower for Summer, and since she has already passed the two-month mark, we might have to hurry,” she said, and this made me frown.

“But there are still four months left.”

“Yes, and we are planning to do the baby shower in her fifth month, which means we only have three months of planning,” Adella said before they began chatting about the theme and color scheme. I looked down at my watch to see that it was getting pretty late, so I got up from my place.

“Adella, I want to talk to you privately,” I told her, which made her look at me. But she didn't question, instead, she followed me to the front door.

“Well, what is it?” she asked me with a smile on her face. Seeing her electric blue eyes made me want to dive right in there and take her home with me, but I stopped myself from walking closer to her.
