Gamma’s Destined Mate. -
Chapter 43
Gamma Jose Gomez - POV
By the time I arrived at my pack, it was past dinner time, so I drove to my house. After taking a quick shower, I ate a bowl of cereal before I went to bed.
Splash!
I jolted awake and looked around my surroundings when I spotted my sister standing near my bed. “Why the hell did you do that?” I asked her while I tried to get out of my bed. Water was dripping all over my hardwood floor.
“That is for cutting the call before I could say anything more, and also it is well passed seven in the morning,” she said with sass. “Now, would you elaborate on the topic that you left yesterday?” she asked me, and I nodded my head.
“I will first freshen up and come, and then, I will explain everything over breakfast,” I told her, and she nodded her head before she walked out of my room. When I entered my kitchen, I saw that she had already prepared breakfast and served it on the table.
Even though she is mad at me for what I did, she has never stopped loving me, and I have thanked God multiple times for gifting me a sister like her. We both sat down and began eating. “You know you can begin, right?” she asked me.
“I found my mate.” that was all I said when I heard the fork slip off her hand and land on the plate.
“Did you fucking reject her!” she yelled, which made me look up from my plate.
“No, I haven't done that yet,” I mumbled because that was my original plan, after all. “Would you hear me out, Jasmin?” I asked her, and even though she wanted to yell at me, she kept quiet and nodded her head. I began explaining everything that happened and the roller coaster of emotions I faced throughout these few weeks. Once I had narrated the entire story, she didn't utter a word.
“I don't think you should reject her, Jose.” she finally said. Her eyes had become watery. Just like how we had contrasting personalities, we did have opposing views when it came to destined mates. Jasmin still dreams of replaceing her true mate because she strongly believes that her relationship will not turn out like how our parents’ relationship did.
“I am not going to reject her.” I finally said the words out loud. And for the first time, it felt nice to have a clear view of what I wanted and that was Adella.
“So, what are you going to do ab...”
“I am going to meet Elena tomorrow and tell her the truth. I don't think it is nice for me to lead her on like this.” I said, and this was the first time since I came back, I saw a smile spread across my sister’s face.
“I am happy that you are doing the right thing at least once,” she said, and I nodded my head. She got up from her place and walked towards me and pulled me into a hug. It felt warm and comforting to have her hug me like this, and just for a couple of moments, I wrapped my arms around her and closed my eyes, enjoying the moment.
“I think we should do one more thing before you take this step in your life,” Jasmin said, when she pulled back, this made a frown appear on my face.
“What is it?” I asked her and pulled me up using my hand.
“I will show it to you,” she said and guided me upstairs. We passed by my room and the guest bedroom when we finally came to a stop in front of the door I hadn't opened for years. “You need to put the past behind you, Jose. And to do that, you need to get rid of all this, I don't think we would need this as a stark reminder of everything that happened in our life.” Jasmin said.
“But, those are our…”
“Yes, but she lives in here.” Jasmin touched my heart.
“You are right,” I said with a smile on my face. “Give me a minute, I will get the key for this room…”
“Don’t worry, I have it here.” Jasmin interrupted me, pulling out the silver key from her pocket. I took it from her hand inserted it into the keyhole, and unlocked the door. The moment I pushed open the door, clouds of dust evaporated outside, making us both cough. “Seems like we have a lot of work to do,” she said, and I nodded my head.
We walked inside the room and started taking out all the cardboard boxes one after the other and lining them against the hallway. After we were done clearing all the cardboard boxes, Jasmin and I started opening each and every box to see what was inside.
“What do you think we should do with all these clothes?” Jasmin asked me. So far, all the boxes that we opened only contained Mom’s clothes and shoes.
“You can take what you want, and the rest I think we can give off for charity,” I suggested, and she nodded her head.
“Jose, come and check this out,” Jasmin yelled from down the hallway.
“What is it?” I asked her when she raised a book. I walked towards her, and she handed it over to me.
“I think it was Mom’s diary,” she said while I opened it to see what was there. The first page was dated a few years before my mother’s eighteenth birthday. “Are you going to read it?” she asked me, and even though I don't really want to dig into my mother’s past life, something was poking my conscience.
“Maybe later,” I said, and she nodded her head before we continued our work. After neatly arranging everything that we might need and the ones that were supposed to be given, I walked into the now-empty room. I tore all the papers that were stuck to the French door, which instantly flooded the room with light.
