Adella Arcos - POV

“Those are so beautiful, Adella.” Elizabeth beamed in happiness. Her eyes grew big in awe and excitement at seeing the exotic bouquet of flowers that I gave her. “Are you really sure that you bought it for me, or did someone give it to you?” Elizabeth asked me, narrowing her eyes down at me.

“You have been very helpful from the day I joined in here. So I thought of getting you something.” I lied. I know I should have told the truth, but I don't think I want to drag her into the mess I call my life. It would be better if Elizabeth knew as little information about me as possible because the werewolf world is not easy to navigate.

“In that case, thank you so much,” she said before she pulled me into a warm side hug. Work went by in a breeze before we were done with our shift and were out of the hotel. As usual, Elizabeth drove me home. “Oh my! I only see this kind of Greek god once in a blue moon.” Elizabeth beamed in excitement, which made me look up from my phone, we were almost close to my house.

“Whom are you talking about?” I asked her, looking outside at the streets.

“The man who is standing just a few feet away from your apartment, wearing a black shirt.” she pointed out while my eyes scanned the crowd of people before zeroing in on the very familiar man.

How did he replace my… Never mind, I guess I might know how.

Elizabeth parked her car at the curb, and I quickly got out of the car. “Where are you coming?” I asked her when she was about to turn off her engine.

“I am going to meet that guy...”

Ring ring.

“Well, I guess some other time,” Elizabeth said in a dejected tone when her phone started to ring. “I will see you on Monday?” she asked me, and I nodded my head and waved at her as she drove away. I started to quickly walk towards my apartment building, but I was not fast enough. The spark flew when our skin came in contact, which made me abruptly turn around to face him.

“Why did you run away from me, Adella?” Jose asked me.

“I didn't run away from you, Jose. I am not that weak.”

“Then why did you come here?”

“I was sick of all the fake people in that pack. I didn't make the decision to leave that pack overnight, it was something that was in the back of my mind.” I told him and avoided eye contact. “You just acted as a catalyst,” I said, and I was about to leave when he blocked my way.

“Will you at least let me explain what happened?” Jose asked me, and I stared up at him for a long time before I finally nodded my head.

“But not today. I will text you the date and time.” I told him, and even though he looked like he wanted to protest, he nodded his head and stepped aside.

“I will be waiting to hear from you, Adella,” he said, but ignored him and walked into the building and locked the door behind me. Just for that fraction of a second before I closed the door, I saw a look of hurt in his eyes, but I didn't let him in. This was exactly how I felt when I found out about him and Elena, and I think he at least deserves to know what it feels like to be hurt by the person you love the most.

After taking a shower, I left a quick text for Summer to call me when she had the time before I went to bed. I know Jose must be around here somewhere, watching my apartment, but I didn't care. I didn't run away from him, so I don't need to pack my things and move from this town either.

“Are you going to give our mate a second chance?” Rachel asked me. I stared up at the dark ceiling, not knowing the answer to that question because my heart and mind were at war with each other on that topic.

Gamma Jose Gomez - POV

Four days passed by when Dylan finally texted me Adella’s address. Just like I suspected, she is not living in the pack she joined, instead, she is residing in the human town nearby. I hurriedly left the office in a rush to go and meet her. I was about to open my car door when another hand stopped me. “Where are you going, Jose?” Jasmin asked me with a raised eyebrow.

“Dylan just texted me Adella’s address, I am going to go and meet her and try to…”

“If you really love her, then don't do something as stupid as this.” Jasmin interrupted me.

“What are you talking about?”

“It has only been a few days since she must have found out about your very stupid decision, Jose. Give her some time to cool down because if you stand in front of her, it would only make her anger increase,” she explained.

“If I don't go looking for her, then, won’t she start to think that I don't care about her?” I asked.

“She will start to think that, but that would be better than for her to make any rash decisions.” Jasmin paused, and she narrowed her eyes at me. “Or, in my opinion, a very sensible decision after what you have done.”

“Like what?” I asked her even though I knew what she was going to say.

“Like rejecting you then and there,” she said in a monotone, which made a shiver run down my spine.

“How long are you expecting me to wait then?” I asked her while dread was already filling my heart.

“I don't have the answer to that question, Jose. But I think all I can tell is that go and replace her when your heart tells you that it is the best time,” she said before she patted my shoulder and walked towards our house.
