Beta Damien Lanzo - POV

As soon as Jose left the place, two warriors stepped forward and handcuffed me with a pair of silver handcuffs, which only made me let out a humorless laugh. The silver that was inside my body slowly poisoned my bloodstream.

I could feel the burning agony inside me, which made me want to scream in pain, but I held back. I should have taken more time to form a well foolproof plan, instead, I listened to Crystal, and now look where it took me.

The warriors started dragging me out, and we began the walk back to the road. I have already been humiliated and beaten up by a girl, whom I considered weak, and now I don't want to spend the rest of my life in prison.

I opened my closed fist and stared down at the small white capsule.

I never imagined I would have any use for this.

I looked at everyone before I quickly swallowed the pill. Five minutes passed by, and then, it started to slowly take its effect. It became difficult for me to breathe, I felt like someone was hammering my chest. I couldn't walk anymore, and just collapsed onto the ground. “What is happening?” I head the panicked voices of men around me, but my entire focus was on the sky.

The pain only lasted for a while before I felt like my body was shutting down, and this made a smile appear on my face.

I will not be humiliated anymore.

Adella Arcos - POV

I woke up to see that I was in the hospital. I got up and sat against the headboard. I looked down at myself to see that most of my injuries had healed, but I was still able to feel that slight pain in my arm and leg.

I looked toward the door when it opened, and Jasmin walked in. “How are you feeling now, Adella?” she asked me as she came inside and took a seat.

“I think I am feeling much better. Thank you for asking.” I said, and she nodded her head. “What happened to Beta Lanzo and Crystal?” I asked her, and this made the smile on her face flatter.

“He died even before he reached the pack,” she said, and this made a cold shiver run down my spine.

Did I kill him?

“Was it because of…”

“Don't blame yourself for his death, Adella. He deserved what he got.” Jasmin reassured me, but I still couldn't digest the fact that I had committed a murder.

“What about Crystal?”

“She has been taken to a high-security prison yesterday. So you don't have to worry about her,” she said, and then we became quiet again. I felt my heart become lighter now that there would be no one trying to kill me.

Click.

Both Jasmin and I looked toward the door to see Jose walking inside. He looked like he had been living in the forest for weeks. His eyes looked tired, and he looked like he had lost a few pounds, while the beard that he had grown made him look a few years older. “I guess, I will let you guys talk,” Jasmin said while I saw her get up from her place and leave.

“I am sorry for everything that happened, Adella,” Jose said, but I shook my head.

“I am sorry. I should have told you about Beta Lanzo…”

“You don't have to be sorry for that, Adella. I mean, you handled the situation pretty well.” Jose praised me, but that only made my guilt increase.

“But I murdered someone.” I asserted, but he shook his head, walked towards me, and took my hand in his. Sparks flew when our skin came in contact, and my heart started to exhilarate in anticipation.

“He deserves it, Adella. I am happy that you were able to finish him once and for all. I believe this would at least bring closure to that chapter of your life,” Jose said, and even though I still had that guilt, deep down, I knew what he was saying was correct. I didn't feel on edge anymore.

I looked up at Jose, his eyes twinkling in an unknown bliss which was slowly pulling me in. I leaned forward, and he moved closer, till we were breathing the same air. He didn't move closer to close the gap, instead, he looked at me deep inside, waiting for me to make the move.

Despite everything that happened, I have finally made up my mind. I need Jose for the rest of my life. I closed my eyes and placed my lips on his. The Sparks between us intensified while his soft and plum lips were devouring mine like this was the last meal he was going to have on this earth.

His hands slowly moved around my waist and pulled me closer till I was straddling his hip while my hand moved to the nape of his neck, which made him moan. “I love you, Adella.” I slightly pulled back and looked him directly in the eye.

“Are you serious, Jose?” I asked him, and he nodded his head.

“I have never felt this way with anyone, Adella. You made me realize what true love is.”

A few months later…

I took a deep breath and looked at myself in the mirror. “You look stunning,” Jasmin exclaimed. It was a pale green dress that stopped a few inches after my feet, and Jasmin had paired it with the blue sapphire necklace and earrings that Jose bought me a few weeks back.

“I am nervous.”

“Don't worry, it will all be over in a moment,” Jasmin reassured me before we walked out of the room. She led me downstairs, where a small crowd was gathered. When we reached the landing, Jose walked out from the crowd and took my hand.

“Relax, you look beautiful,” he whispered in my ear before he took my hand in his and guided me toward the living room. Summer was sitting on the sofa with her newborn son, and when she saw me walk in, a huge smile appeared on her face.

We walked to stand on a small pedestal that was placed in the living room. Everyone in the living room slowly turned towards us. “Thank you for coming in here today. Adella and I have an announcement to make.” Jose began, and he briefly looked at me before he turned his attention to the crowd. “We are going to get married in two months, and we cordially invite everyone for the occasion,” he said, and this made everyone start cheering for us in joy, which made the blush on my face deepen. “Adella,” I turned around towards Jose when I saw him go down on his knees.

“What are you doing, Jose?”

“It wouldn't be proper if I don't give you an engagement ring before I marry you, right?” he asked me before he took out a small ring box and opened it. The ring was just spectacular. It was a platinum ring in the shape of twirled vines and encrusted with black and pink diamonds.

“It's beautiful,” I mumbled, and he nodded his head before he took my left hand and slipped it into my ring finger.

“I love you, Adella,” he mumbled and placed a chaste kiss on my lips before he stepped back. I looked at the crowd again, when I saw Summer get up from her place and walk towards me.

“Congratulations,” she said while pulling me into a tight hug.

“Thank you,” I whispered in her ear. Finally, I felt like my life was complete with everything that I never imagined I would ever get.
