Half Faced Alpha -
Chapter 34
Natalia closed the door as she walked out of the room on tiptoes. It hadn't taken Axton too long to fall asleep again, and it was pretty understandable.
She found herself smiling as she walked, her hands touching her lips just enough for her to feel it, and keeping it delicate so as not clear off the essence of his own lips. She was still too shy to relive what had happened, and she would tuck it away safely in a corner of her memories till remembering it didn't make her feet wobble under her. "I was waiting for you." Beta Scott said. "Actually, I was waiting to talk to the alpha, but I knew I should not interrupt."
She looked at his mischievous eyes, then walked to him.
"Do you...perhaps know what to do after something like that happens?"
Beta Scott raised a brow. "Depends on the kind of something like that you mean."
She scrunched up her nose, then pushed him farther away so she wouldn't wake Axton.
"I mean...what should a girl do after you know..."
He shook his head. "I do not."
She felt like smacking his arm, but she decided to be elaborate. "What happens after a..." She closed her eyes tight. "After a kiss?"
He shrugged. "It depends on every man, to be honest. He is probably wondering too."
He was baiting her for more information.
"No, I do not think so. He seemed so good..."
Beta Scott's eyes widened as the smile threatened to split his face in two.
She looked at him, then thinned her eyes. "You did that on purpose."
"I was wondering how our stony alpha, who has never let a girl come close to him would be. Some sentences are incomplete if you are not reading this novel on Narugi.com. He demonstrated with his hands, flipping his wrists like he was wiping something on his face.
She sat back down on the stairs, as he sat on the one right below hers. "What do you mean?"
"I have actually wanted to tell the alpha to get you more clothes from the pack's stores, but..I guess your face was enough." He gave a smirk. "But tonight is the full moon festival. Come."
He showed her to the largest window in the sitting room downstairs that was overlooking the pack grounds.
Preparations were heavy on the grounds, with astonishingly beautiful women strutting around. Natalia couldn't place her hand on the green eyed monster that gnawed on her heart as she watched their elegance.
"See that? I am sure you feel something."
"What do you suggest I do?"
"You are the alpha's mate. You are going to be his bride. You should make a statement. Have you ever looked at alpha's face? What do you think?"
She lowered her head. She knew exactly what he meant. And besides the mate bond, she couldn't lie, the face she saw, even though she could only see a part back then, it was one of the things that fostered this maddening attraction. "So...what should I do?"
Beta Scott smiled. "I know someone. She stays low-key because Alpha used to hate all these things, but now, he apparently does not even go out to the pack like he used to."
"So, where do I have to go?"
"I can not risk taking you out, lest Alpha replaces out, but...I will bring her to you."
She nodded happily, then waited on the stairs as Beta Scott took the remaining stairs downwards.
"Oh, I almost forgot, please tell alpha of the full moon. He might have forgotten."
She nodded and waited just until he left, then took the message as an excuse to go back to Axton.
He was still asleep by the time she came back, and she occupied the other side of his bed, and laid on her side, then wrapped her arms around his.
He only moved slightly, and she buried her face in his neck, breathing in the fresh scent of masculinity, and a pinch of his own uniqueness.
She closed her eyes, remembering all the she wolves she'd seen, strutting around elegantly and beautifully, and she looked at Axton.
Was it possible that one of them would want him too?
The thought made her sit up. Beta Scott was probably right. She had to make herself a little better, a little more worthy.
She leaned back and let her eyes roam around the room.
Dark aesthetics, and lack of lighting. For someone so beautiful, she wondered why he wanted to stay hidden behind the shadows.
Her eyes caught a grey scroll, with an address tag dangling from it. It was sitting purposely on the bedside, just right below the small lamp.
She peeked at it, and the words, "To Axton" were written in beautiful cursive on the address tag.
She wondered what it could be and who it could be from. She turned, seeing him fast asleep with his back to her, then turned her attention back to the letter again.
Could it be from one of those women? What if it was? Has he read it already? She had noticed no one except her calls him by his name, so could this person be close enough to address him the same way?
She moved a little, then extended her hand towards the scroll to touch it. She could feel the paper on her fingers when she heard Axton's voice,
"Natalia?"
She turned to see Axton was just waking, his hair ruffled. She adjusted, forgetting all about the scroll.
"You are awake."
He nodded. "For some reason, my sleep is always interrupted. I am not sure why."
"I am sorry, what would you want?"
He shook his head. "Can you wait for me outside?"
She immediately nodded, and leaving a small peck on his forehead, she walked out.
He let out his breath, as his eyes settled on the letter. He turned around, making sure the door was locked, and he took the letter, and pushed it into his small safe.
It was from her father, and he was sure he would not want her to know whatever was in it.
