Chapter 5 He Comes to Clarify
“Dominic,” Grace said, tears welling up in her eyes. She looked accusingly at Dominic, as if she had seen her silver lining.
Chelsea curled her lip and grumbled. “What a drama queen!”
Grace acted like she was being treated unfairly.
Dominic furrowed his brow, examining Grace carefully, and asked, “Are you
hurt?”
Grace hurriedly clarified. “It’s not me who’s injured, it’s Lydia. Celia accidentally hurt Lydia’s hand.”
“You’re not in good health condition, so you shouldn’t have come here,” Dominic remarked, displaying particular concern for her well–being.
Lydia covered her hands and sarcastically looked at Celia, saying, “Mr. Dawson, Grace and I are here shopping because she’s in a bad mood today. She’s upset after she discovered you were with another woman last night.”
Dominic’s face contorted with displeasure, while Grace’s complexion turned pale. She hastily grabbed her best friend and insisted, “Alright, Lydia, stop. talking. It’s nothing.”
Lydia sharply said, “What do you mean didn’t you cried for him just a while ago? You only perked up a bit after shopping with me for a while!”
“I…” Grace lowered her head, presenting a pitiful appearance that could even evoke sympathy from even the toughest individuals.
Celia glanced at Grace briefly before turning away. She had contemplated imitating Grace before, thinking it might please Dominic, as he had only been seen with Grace in public.
Celia, however, doubted that she had it in her to be quite as affected as Grace. She was pleased with the considerate and caring impression she gave in comparison.
Everyone awaited Dominic’s response.
“Where did you hear that?” Dominic asked directly.
Lydia immediately responded, “It’s been circulating within our social circle! Everyone knows about it.”

Dominic cast a coolly scrutinizing glance at Celia as he said. “I’ll get to the bottom of this, but I can assure you that it has nothing to do with Celia.
Celia wasn’t surprised by his answer, as Dominic had always kept his distance. from her in public.
Celia calmly asserted. “It really has nothing to do with me, absolutely nothing.”
Lydia, upon hearing this, felt a sense of relief. She reassured Grace, saying, “That’s perfect then. Grace, don’t be sad anymore.”
Lydia turned her gaze to Celia, her expression indicating unequivocally that she blamed Celia for spreading the rumor.
There are people who like to sleep around, but they want to make themselves relevant to Mr. Dawson by starting rumors about him,” she sarcastically said after seeing the hickey on Celia’s body. “They’re so shameless.”
Celia responded with a sneer. I was actually bitten by a dog last night. I’m just as curious as you are about who spread this news.”
Dominic’s demeanor remained unruffled despite the subtle insult. He couldn’t help but notice the marks on Celia’s body, causing his eyes to narrow slightly.
Although Chelsea had some fear of Dominic, she sided with Celia and chimed in, “Yes, there must be a misunderstanding here. Celia has absolutely nothing to
do with Mr. Dawson.”
“We don’t even know each other.”
They would just be strangers if it weren’t for their ten–year marriage contract.
This farce came to an end when Dominic left with Grace.
Celia soon completely put this matter behind her, as she thought it would bet better to go shopping with Chelsea than dwell on these things.
Celia walked into the parking lot after saying goodbye to Chelsea and
upon
remembering the incident again seeing Grace.
Grace stood by a car, adorned with a beaming smile. Standing next to her was Leon, holding numerous shopping bags from luxury brands like Gucci and Chanel.
It was evident that Dominic had purchased them as a gift for Grace.
Even though Dominic gave C
Celia his credit card once, she never used it because

she knew that all of his extravagant spending was for a woman named Grace. He lavished Grace with gifts ranging from expensive cars to luxurious mansions, making many people envious.
Celia quickly glanced at them before intending to leave. However, Grace caught sight of her and approached her with a gentle smile.
“Miss Burton, thank you for everything you’ve done regarding the surgery. Without you, I might not have survived, and I wouldn’t be able to continue being by Dominic’s side.” said Grace.
“Since I took the money, that’s what I have to do,” Celia said calmly.” If it meant getting paid, I’d rescue the patients no matter what, even if they were monsters.”
The implication in Celia’s words was apparent, causing a slight stiffness in Grace’s expression.
However, she couldn’t show her displeasure for the sake of her image. Grace took a deep breath and said, “I’m truly sorry for the earlier misunderstanding. Dominic investigated the matter and found out that it was a rumor spread by a naive young girl. She got what she deserved.”
Celia remarked with a hint of sarcasm, “Oh, so he didn’t discover it was you? It seems his abilities are limited.”
A flicker of shock passed through Grace’s eyes as Celia’s expression suggested that she had been aware of everything all along.
Grace found it strange because she had meticulously covered up all the evidence, so not even Dominic could uncover the truth. She suspected that Celia was bluffing.
“Celia, my dear sister, you really enjoy making jokes. How could I have done such a thing?” Grace said.
Celia responded nonchalantly, “Don’t call me sister. I wanted to remind you just. then that you’re two years older than me.”
Celia was sensitive about age–related matters, particularly when older women referred to her as “sister.”
Grace’s hands tightened into fists. She was just about to say something when she heard Dominic walking toward them.
Behind Dominic, a group of well–dressed men stood, presumably mall
managers.

A low and cold voice commanded. Today, deliver everything to the villa.”
The others echoed in agreement. “Of course, we’ll go with the latest and best designs available.”
Sensing Dominic’s presence, Grace happily approached him, naturally linking her arm with his.
“Dominic, we’ve already discussed this. You don’t have to buy me so many things!”
Calmly, Dominic replied. “This is what I should do for you.”
Grace couldn’t contain her joy, covering her mouth as laughter escaped, radiating pure happiness.
In contrast, Celia felt no emotional response, and a sense of weariness started to
wash over her.
She concluded that this matter was no longer her concern and decided to leave.
However, just as she was about to depart, she heard Grace intentionally cough twice, grabbing her attention.
Dominic spoke up, addressing Celia, “Please wait.”
“What’s the matter?” Celia asked, her face expressionless.
“Grace isn’t feeling well. Could you accompany us to the hospital and check on her again?” Dominic requested.
Celia snickered to herself silently. “Dominic, isn’t it enough that you make your ex–wife treat your mistress’s illness? Now, you even want me to look after her health as well?” she wondered.
In a nonchalant tone, Celia declared, “Well, you need to pay me another billion.
dollar.
Dominic arched an eyebrow in slight displeasure, but it was hard to tell why he was feeling that way. He remained silent for a moment before saying, “Fine.”
Celia snapped her fingers in approval and announced, “Let’s go to the hospital together.”
They said they would go there together, but they ended up taking their own.

Celia had initially planned to go there by her car alone. But to her surprise,

Dominic unexpectedly opened the passenger door and entered her car..
Arching an eyebrow, Celia questioned, “Is there something else?”
Dominic explained. “I want to learn about more information about Grace’s condition from you.”
Celia replied with a casual “Oh.” pressed on the accelerator, and remarked, “Alright, Mr. Dawson, feel free to ask. I’ll share what I know.”
To Dominic’s dismay, an unexpected wave of displeasure welled up in him, and he couldn’t discern the reason behind this intensified feeling. He began,
