Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right -
Chapter 301
Even offering generous compensation didn’t make a difference.
It was rather peculiar.
Lindsey had a hunch that Jayleen might’ve pulled some strings behind the scenes.
Still, it seemed far-fetched for her to have that much sway to make all the teachers from such a renowned institution turn down the offer.
Lindsey mulled over her next move, wandering through the institution’s buildings, her brow furrowed in thought.
ALL at once, the screech of brakes caught her attention.
She glanced up to spot an elderly lady lying in the middle of the road, her bag of oranges scattered on the ground.
A guy stuck his head out of the car and cursed the elderly lady, grumbling, “You silly old fool! Can’t you pay attention to where you’re headed?”
Following his angry outburst, he drove away in his car.
Lindsey rushed forward, extending a hand to assist the elderly lady to her feet, and gathered up the scattered oranges, only to discover a large hole in the bag.
“Thank you, Miss.
” The elderly lady, displaying kindness and gentleness, expressed her gratitude to Lindsey.
“Of course.
Are you okay?” Lindsey asked with concern.
The elderly lady sighed, saying, “I’m alright.
Those oranges were meant for my husband.
He adores eating them.
I never thought the bag would suddenly break and the oranges tumble onto the road.
I hurried to pick them up and didn’t notice a car approaching…”
Lindsey looked at the oranges she held and remarked, “Ma’am, it must be tough for you to manage all these oranges on your own.
Where do you stay? Allow me to lend a hand and deliver them for you.
”
The elder lady, seemingly in her eighties, had eyes that shone with wisdom and serenity.
She gazed up at Lindsey thoughtfully.
“Thank you so much for helping me, Miss.
”
“Don’t mention it.
I’m happy to help.
”
Lindsey, carrying the oranges, followed the elderly lady to an old residence in a residential area.
It lacked an elevator.
The Morcastle Film Academy had since constructed upscale housing for its esteemed staff, leaving places like this almost forgotten.
These old residential neighborhoods, like the one here, were torn down so much that this was all that remains.
Lindsey made her way up to the second floor, and the elderly lady unlocked the door with a rusty key, inviting Lindsey inside the apartment with a warm greeting.
The interior of the apartment caught Lindsey’s attention.
While the exterior appeared aged, the inside was neat and well-kept.
A grand cabinet stood impeccably clean, showcasing various items from the past century.
Adorning the walls were posters of celebrities from that bygone era, exuding a distinct retro charm.
“Miss, just place those oranges right on the table.
”
The elderly lady said, then headed to the kitchen to fetch a clean cloth.
In the living room’s corner, she diligently started wiping something down.
Lindsey placed the oranges down and glanced towards the elderly lady.
Lindsey couldn’t contain her surprise, her eyes growing wide.
The elderly lady was tenderly cleaning a portrait of a loved one who had passed away.
In the photo, was an old man with a warm, gentle grin.
