Chapter 34 Oakley
I
think that Ray would have fed me my lunch had I allowed him to do it. As it was, he cut up my food because he wouldn’t allow me to take off the hard brace, even though the medic told me that I could take it off by the time lunch had started if he wasn’t so dam n cute, I would have found him annoying.
However, Cassie was done with his antics and literally brought a medic over to say that I could take the wrapping and the brace off. Ray questioned the medic to the point that the male literally just walked away from him. Is it too soon to say that I’m
falling in love with this guy?
After lunch is the fourth round. This time, two fights will go on in both sets. In the first set, Lisa and I will both fight our
opponents Cassie will be in the second round against Lauren, our 11th ranked warrior. And Mary and Je rry will be going against
each other. This is gonna be interesting
Im first up against Damon, our 9th ranked warrior. He is as versatile as I am with weapons, so I have to watch what he’s
going to pick up to know how best to respond. Damon looks at me with a smirk and picks up a longsword and a set of knives.
He knows that those are the weapons that I favor, so he’s being cheeky
I chuckle. “Trying to beat me at my own game, D?
“Well, I figure if I can take the number one down using her favorite weapons, that’s when I’ll know that I’ve really made it,” he
says through a sh it-eating grin.
I just shake my head, picking up matches to his weapons and head toward the fighting circle that one of the trainers
indicates.
I take a few practice swings with the longsword that I’m using just to make sure I’ve found the balance. Each sword has its
own unique balance based on the type of metal, how it was forged, the temperature that it’s heated at, etc. Once I’m sure I’ve
found it, I settle into my fighting stance and nod to the trainer. Damon does the same and we wait until the whistle blows.
Typically, I wait for my opponent to attack and get a read on them. But I know Damon. I’ve fought him many times. I know that I need to be fast and decisive with my attack. I can’t let him have breathing room to strike. So I rush towards him, making a large downward strike. He easily meets me to block the strike. What he doesn’t know was that I have a dagger in my other hand, which I swipe across his chest, cutting through his clothing and giving him a moderately shallow slice all the way across
his chest.
He jumps back, looking down at his chest and swiping a hand through the blood there. He looks at his hand before looking up at me, an amused look on his face as he chuckles and shakes his finger at me.
I give him an innocent smile and settle back into my fighting stance. Damon runs towards me, his sword raised and ready for a downward stroke. We trade blows in a fast and furious dance to the clanging of steel and the crushing of sand beneath our feet. We each land several slices and cuts on each other’s arms, legs, and torso, though nothing as serious as the first slice
gave Damon
At this point, Lisa had already beaten Kurt, her opponent, so they had already reset that fighting circle and get Cassie’s fight
started
I already know that there is no way I’m going to beat Damon by purely sticking with swords and he is stronger than I am, so going purely hand to hand with him isn’t an option either. Im going to have to make some critical slices and possibly throw my knife at him in order to win.

I have a chance to talk myself out of it, I duck under his swipe, roll behind him and slash my sword across the backs

of his legs I end up catching the backs of his knees, cutting through the ligaments and he immediately falls to the ground on his stomach, his legs no longer able to support his weight. I spring up and jump on his back, lifting his head and putting my sword
beneath his chin
“F uck” be moans out. “I yield”
I gently allow his head to fall to the ground and pat his hair as the medics run to the field.
Another medic tries to check me out, but I wave her off. All of my cuts have already healed.
I turn to the other fighting circle to see that Cassie’s fight is over and the twins are in the middle of their own fight. Cassie won and it looks like Mary might as well. She’s got a whip and throwing stars against her brother’s short sword and club. The whip is wrapped around Je rry’s forearm, pulling him toward her with both hands. Jer ry’s lost his club and can’t get to the short
sword which is beneath him as Mary pulls him towards her
Mary seems determined to make her brother come to her instead of going to him. What none of us notice is that Je rry grabs a handful of sand and throws it into Mary’s face when she is nearly on top of him. It’s all the advantage he needs as he springs up, pulling his short sword out as he brings Mary to the ground, straddling her and putting his sword to her n*eck.
She refuses to yield, even though there is clearly nothing that she can do to dislodge her brother, as he’s straddling her chest with his knees pinning her arms. She’s just being stubborn, Je rry’s only choice is to slam the hilt of the sword into her head and
knock her out. She’ll be pis sed when she wakes up.
So it stands that in the second to last round, I will face Lisa and Je rry will face Cassie. At least I’m excited about my match
up. I’ve been wanting to give that bit ch a good beating for the past several days.
Once the fighting circle is ready, Lisa and I pick our weapons. I don’t even look to see what she has, I just grab a short sword
and my trusty knives. I have no doubt that she’ll grab the exact same thing. It’s her favorite set of weapons, just as it is mine.
I walk into the fighting circle and get into my stance.
“Ready to get your as s kicked?” Lisa snarls at me.
“When I see someone that’s able to do it, I’ll make sure that I’m ready.” I say.
“I can’t wait until you’re bleeding on the sand below me,” she says with a da mn ugly smirk.
“You’ll be waiting a f ucking long as s time, bi tch, I growl out, allowing a little bit of my wolf’s frustration with her to come out.
The whistle blows and Lisa pulls two knives from her weapons belt, throwing them with deadly accuracy. I bat them out of the air with my sword, hearing them thunk into the ground behind me. I run headlong toward Lisa, aiming for her legs as I swipe
low. She jumps over me, rolling and picking up both of her knives which were embedded into the ground, throwing both of them
over her shoulders towards me
The first knife is easy to evade, but I don’t quite catch the second one in time, so that it slices along the outer portion of my
upper arm as it sails by
Lisa grins savagely as she sees me bleed.
I smirk at her. “Enjoy it. That’s the last time that you’ll make me bleed.”
“We’ll see about that,” she taunts, drawing her short sword.
I wait for her to come to me this time, flicking open the loop on one of my knives. I make sure that she sees that there isn’t
anything in my hand as she goes to make her swing. When she’s at that critical point where she can’t change her movement, I block with the sword and grab the knife from my belt and stab it between two of her ribs and directly into her lung

She stares at me wide eyed looking down at my hand and the knife plunged into her b*dy, then back up at my face. I pull
the knife out and start to walk away, hearing her fall to the ground behind me. Not a lethal blow right away and she’ll have plenty
of time to heal before it becomes life threatening, but it’s gonna hurt like the b*tch she is for it to heal.
