Hearts On Fire
Chapter 3:

In the bathroom getting ready

In Amaya’s head: If only I didn't have these scars. A constant reminder of my past. Every time I look at myself in the mirror, they're telling me I'll never escape my past. Miranda keeps encouraging me, saying those are signs of how strong I am. That I'm a survivor, and that's true. Every time I see them, I can't help myself but start feeling sick. Especially the one on my chest. A reminder of the day my brother tried to kill me. It’s a miracle I'm still alive. After all these years of misery and torture, or is it a curse? Maybe it’d be better if I didn't survive. Don't think about this, Amaya. You're stronger than that. They're not gonna replace you and even if they do, you'll protect yourself. I wanna live my life freely. I'm free. No matter how long it lasts, it's probably only a matter of time before they show up. That's why I wanna live my life everyday like it's the last. They already took too much for me. Starting today, I'm gonna live and one thing I know for sure is I'm never going back to that place alive. No matter what it takes. Fuck these scars. But for the sake of avoiding questions from curious people, I'll cover it up with makeup. I really don't wanna waste my time on making of stupid excuses or stories on how I got them. There we go. Perfect. Now for something nice to wear. Today is the first day of the beginning of my life.

Miranda: “Eeeekk! How are you so gorgeous? Teach me your ways.”

Amaya: “Oh please. Just look at how stunning you are.”

Miranda: “You make me blush, but I'm not gonna argue with you on that one.”

Amaya: “We’re some bad bitches.”

Miranda: “We really are. Hey, talk to me. I feel you tensing up.”

Amaya: “It's nothing. I'm just a bit anxious. You know I never went to a club before.”

Miranda: “I know, me neither and I see you decided to cover the scar.”

Amaya: “I don't want unnecessary questions.”

Miranda: “We’ll be fine. Look at us, we're slaying.”

Amaya: “You're right. We’re queens and we can do anything.”

Miranda: “But we're not drinking. Remember we bought that vodka and got wasted.”

Amaya: “How could I forget that?”

Miranda: “We’re both light weights.”

Amaya: “We barely have enough money for food and rent next month. So no drinking.”

Miranda: “I definitely should’ve stolen more from the pack when we decided to run.”

Amaya: “Let's worry about that tomorrow. I want us to have the time of our lives tonight.”

Miranda: “Hell yeah.”

Amaya: “And I'm ready for some hot guys.”

Miranda: “I live with the crowd. You know I hate people.”

Amaya: “What is it?”

Miranda: “Babe…this place is filled with wolves.”

Amaya: “Just peachy.”

Miranda: “Do you want us to leave?”

Amaya: “Hell no. I came here to party and fucking wolves are not gonna ruin it for me.”

Miranda: “Eeeek!”

Amaya: “Now, drinks!”

Miranda: “We said we're not getting drunk.”

Amaya: “I changed my mind.”

Miranda: “You're such a bad influence.”

Amaya: “Always.”

Miranda: “I told you we need a few sips only. You haven't had enough?”

Amaya: “No. I'm enjoying myself.”

Miranda: “Your face says exactly that. You look angry. Don't give me the death stare. Who would’ve thought a human like you could look intimidating? (Azar’s family home)”

Sammy: “All of our children are adults now.”

Azrael: “I know.”

Jessie: “Maybe we should really have more.”

Fenrir: “That's what I was proposing to Azrael only a few hours ago.”

Azrael: “I told you no more children.”

Sammy: “But Azzy…”

Azrael: “No Sammy! Can't you see that we're gonna have grandchildren soon.”

Jessie: “Yeah, look at Khiara and Cole. They're the first ones who’ll give us babies.”

Fenrir: “My daughter is not having children anytime soon.”

Sammy: “I hope Thorne and Azar replace their mates soon. It started to scare me so much.”

Khiara: “I can't believe this day is finally here.”

Cole: “I waited for you for so long.”

Khiara: “Kiss me, my mate.”

Cole: “I'm so dead when your dad and brother sees this.”

Khiara: “They’ll have to get used to it. You know they love you.”

Cole: “And I love you.”

Khiara: “Aww. I love you more.”

Thorne: “Azar, stop that!”

Azar: “He's kissing my sister.”

Thorne: “Don't cause any problems now. We knew they were gonna be mates since we were children. Remember how much he cared for her his whole life. He's been our best friend since forever. There's no one who’ll love your sister more and protect her than Cole. Are you okay? You look like you're about to lose control.”

Azar: “I need some air.”

In Thorne’s head: Yep, losing it again.

Azrael: “He's losing control again.”

Sammy: “Thorne has his back. He'll calm him down like always. (in the garden)”

Thorne: “Shit you're fast. Tell me what's going on inside that head of yours.”

Azar: “I don't know.”

Thorne: “Is it about her? I'll take that as a yes.”

Azar: “I think I felt her again today.”

Thorne: “How?”

Azar: “First I felt fear.”

Thorne: “Fear?”

Azar: “Yeah, I don't know how to explain it.”

Thorne: “That's strange. You're fearless.”

Azar: “I know. That's what I'm telling you, these aren’t my feelings that I'm feeling.”

Thorne: “You said at first it was fear. You felt something else after that?”

Azar: “Anger. Like controlling my temper isn't hard enough. It's adding fuel to the fire.”

Thorne: “Literally.”

Azar: “It's not a good time for a joke.”

Thorne: “You felt her again, that's a good thing, right? At least we know she's alive.”

Azar: “Or am I just going insane and imagining things?”

Thorne: “I believe what you're feeling is very much real. I have no clue how or why.”

Azar: “I can't get over the feeling that she needed me and I wasn't there.”

Thorne: “Calm down. You don't wanna burn everything again.”

Azar: “Fuck!”

Thorne: “You need a drink and fast.”

In Amaya’s head: I ended up drinking a lot more than expected. Miranda and I were approached by these guys. She didn't show interest but I was like why not. Miranda decided she had enough and she's taking a nap on one of the chairs. They’re okay, I guess and a little bit of fun won't hurt anyone right? Just a bit of dancing, nothing more. I'm not gonna lie, things started heating up and it felt good. I felt free. Maybe this will lead to something more, who knows? I know they want me, but for now I'm just fooling around a bit. I didn't even have my first kiss yet. Not to mention something more. Sure, there’s no point in me waiting for someone. Still, the person who had any interest in me before these random dudes made me sick. I tremble even at the thought of him. How he looked at me, how he talked to me…bastard. Block these thoughts, Amaya. Block the past. You're free. I guess I'll see where the night will lead me.

Thorne: “Tell me you can smell it too? Azar, wait!!”

In Azar’s head: As soon as I entered the club, the sweetest scent I ever felt completely consumed me. It was her! Without giving it a second thought I let the sweet aroma lead me as I started running. It wasn't like I expected. It was faint yet still present. Probably because I wasn't the only one that sensed it the way I do. But nothing prepared me for the scene I was about to witness. Her dancing with some shirtless men. Seductively swaying her hips. They’re so close to her with their hands on her body. She seemed completely unaware of my presence. Did she not feel me? And just like that I lost every piece of my control.

Azar: “MATE! (Azar’s eyes turn red and sets everything on fire)”
