Hearts On Fire
Chapter 35:

In the cabin

Marian: “I got some news.”

Maria: “What is it?”

Marian: “That bastard is alive and awake.”

Maria: “But we thought he was in a bad condition and would probably die.”

Marian: “We obviously underestimated him. He survived.”

Maria: “Do you think they know it was us? They know what's going on?”

Marian: “Yeah. You know the first idiot we sent never came back. They caught him and I'm pretty sure they found a way for him to tell them everything they needed to know.”

Maria: “If Amaya siphoned Azar’s powers she couldn't take his wolf, we know that. But we thought the loss of his powers would weaken him enough to kill his wolf. If Azar’s still alive, does that mean his wolf is still alive?”

Marian: “Yes. I don't doubt it. If he lost his wolf, he wouldn't be able to survive.”

Maria: “What are we gonna do now?”

Marian: “I don't know. They haven't found us yet but maybe it would be for the best to change our location again.”

Maria: “Don't you think it would be too risky? They're searching for us. They didn't replace our pack for seven months. They didn't even know we still existed until a few months ago. If we move now, we risk them catching us.”

Marian: “You're right, I don't know but you know we have more and more people around us thanks to Amaya. At least that abomination really proved to be useful in the end. I must admit, I didn't believe what that witch was saying but it turned out amazing. Now she's our only chance to wipe them off from the face of the earth once and for all. They will pay for what they did to my father and my pack.”

Maria: “We need to be careful. Nash holds so much power now. We shouldn't have let him have control over Amaya.”

Marian: “What were we supposed to do? We didn't have a choice but I agree.”

Maria: “I don't know what his plans are. Both of you are alphas yet he acted like he's the superior one but that was our only way of survival. After Luca and Nevio’s death, we survived only thanks to Nash and the rest of their pack. We didn't have anyone.”

Marian: “I don't know, he was always crazy but lately he seems like he's losing his mind. The power got to him. I think it's only a matter of time he'll turn against us.”

Maria: “I'm not gonna allow him to turn us into his slaves. We have more right to power. Amaya’s our family, not his.”

Marian: “Like you ever cared about her. You wanted her dead as much as I did.”

Maria: “It's a good thing we found out about her powers before you actually killed her.”

Marian: “Yes.”

Maria: “Not only that she's a disgrace to our family, we needed to replace out the shame that she's mated to our worst enemies.”

Marian: “Well, all for the purpose. See how she'll end them all now.”

Maria: “We need a plan.”

Marian: “Like what?”

Maria: “We need to have Amaya on our side. (Marian laughs and Maria slaps Marian)”

Marian: “What was that for?!”

Maria: “Don't raise your voice at me or laugh at me!! I'm your mother.”

Marian: “I was laughing because it's actually absurd to even think that it's possible to have Amaya on our side after how we tortured her for years.”

Maria: “We need to try. We need to be secure when Nash decides to ditch us. Our packs are stronger together but he doesn't need us anymore. Not when Amaya’s here.”

Marian: “We can't underestimate him. See how well he planned everything through. He's been plotting this revenge for years.”

Maria: “WE’VE been plotting this revenge for years but now that he got his hands on Amaya, he'll get rid of us. I'm telling you we need her to trust us.”

Marian: “That is never gonna happen. As hard as it is for me to admit, she's a lot smarter than that. She would see right through us. Not to mention Nash keeps her locked away from us. You know we are forbidden to go near her.”

Maria: “Maybe we could have a witch cast some sort of spell. You know that's how Nash got her here in the first place. The call of our blood summoned her here. He needed our blood as we’re Amaya's only blood relatives. We could do blood magic again.”

Marian: “It's true but then he did a binding spell to him. Not to mention we wouldn't be able to replace a witch who would do that for us. Not without Nash knowing. He has them all under his control. Not a single one of them would dare go against his words and they're terrified of him. You know how he killed every single one whose spell failed.”

Maria: “You're right. I'm sure we’ll figure something out. you're my golden boy. You're born to rule. As soon as we have the Crimson Fleur Pack vanished and our revenge is done…we’ll replace a way to put you on a throne. You're the next alpha of all alphas. We’ll have every single pack at your feet. Everyone will worship you and fear you in the name of your father. You’ll continue his legacy. (Nash’s bedroom)”

Tyy Leon: “You asked for me, alpha?”

Nash: “Ahh, little witch.”

Tyy Leon: “Warlock, my alpha.”

Nash: “Whatever. Get over here. You're late.”

Tyy Leon: “I'm sorry, alpha.”

Nash: “I was waiting for you for hours.”

Tyy Leon: “I know, I'm really sorry. I was getting everything you asked me to bring. I'm sorry, it won't happen again.”

Nash: “Good, you better be careful. You know what I did to your sister. You don't wanna meet the same fate.”

Tyy Leon: “Yes, alpha. I'll be more careful next time.”

Nash: “Your spells are failing. Why isn’t the mate bond created yet? She still rejects me. It's more clear she doesn't want anything to do with me. She's constantly fighting me.”

Tyy Leon: “It's not that simple. Mate bonds are created by our gods. They unite the souls before they are even brought to earth. Breaking a previous bond and creating a new one is against all the laws of nature. It's black magic. I've warned you about it. I'm not surprised that it's not going smoothly as you wanted it to be.”

Nash: “You and your stupid gods. I don't care about any of it. I don't care if it's black magic. If I say I want her previous bond broken then you have to make it work. I don't care how, you're completely failing just like you're a miserable sister. Amaya should at least feel something towards me by now.”

Tyy Leon: “Amaya had experienced love with her mate. It's really impossible to make her forget about all that she’s been through with them.”

Nash: “Are you deaf or what or just stupid? Can't you hear what I'm saying?! I don't want her to remember him. I need her to want me. I need her to want to be mine.”

Tyy Leon: “You know I casted the spell, alpha. And she has the necklace but I guess she's too strong for it. She's fighting it too hard.”

Nash: “Then you need to do more. Make another one. Make the spell stronger. Make her forget about her previous mate. I'm her mate!!”

Tyy Leon: “I brought everything you asked for. I'll make a new spell for you. It should work a lot better after it.”

Nash: “Good.”

Tyy Leon: “But in order to do so I need to see her. This sort of hex needs to be performed in person. Like we did a few years ago to make her forget all about the dreams and premonitions she had of her mate.”

Nash: “I'm not letting you near her. No one is allowed to see her but me.”

Tyy Leon: “I'm sorry but there really is no other way. For this there's no ambulance nor object to be hexed or passed on to her.”

Nash: “Fine. Before you go…tell me about her power. Will it start to fade eventually?”

Tyy Leon: “No. Siphoners would need renewal of their power constantly as they use it but not in Amaya's case. She's special. She took the power of her own mate which means she basically took everything that was already a piece of her soul. She was feeding on it for years without even knowing it and with him marking her it just sealed it.”

Nash: “But she can steal more power?”

Tyy Leon: “Yes. She can siphon as much power as she wants. Or in this case, as much as you want her to.”

Nash: “Good. I need her to be stronger. It's true, we're gathering so many people but my pack is still outnumbered. Not to mention that they still have a hellhound on their side. How will we defeat her?!”

Tyy Leon: “Azrael is an extremely powerful creature. I'm not sure if anyone stands a chance against her…not even Amaya.”

Nash: “I want Amaya to siphon Azrael’s powers too!!”

Tyy Leon: “But that means Amaya needs to be close enough to Azrael to actually touch her and perform the spell. It can't be done from afar.”

Nash: “Fuck!!”

Tyy Leon: “Maybe you can release her. Let her go back to them.”

Nash: “I'm not letting her out of my sight. She's not gonna be near him again and not only that…I'm sure that they hate her. She wouldn't be able to gain their trust again.”

Tyy Leon: “So what do we do? As far as I know, Amaya doesn't even know she has siphoning powers’ work.”

Nash: “You're right, she doesn't. I'll need you to teach her but not everything of course. And you know exactly what I mean.”

Tyy Leon: “Of course, my alpha. I would never.”

Nash: “Very good. It's your head on a stake here. How much time will it take for you to show her everything?”

Tyy Leon: “Not long. A couple of weeks for her to master it. It's in her blood. Most of the things will come completely naturally to her.”

Nash: “Excellent. I'll monitor her progress.”

Tyy Leon: “Oh no!! It's not possible, my alpha. The worst weaknesses with siphoners are distractions. In order to make everything work she'll need to be completely focused. If she doesn't give her full attention to her spells they will be insufficient.”

Nash: “Interesting. What about other weaknesses?”

Tyy Leon: “Mortality. She absorbed the healing power but still, if she's hurt badly she wouldn't be able to do anything about it. Even with the faster healing she’d succumb to the wounds.”

Nash: “I'm thinking about that life binding spell. It was a smart idea. If I knew Azar and the others found out about it, they wouldn't hurt me. Not knowing that it means they would hurt her too but I'm not sure if I need it anymore.”

Tyy Leon: “Do you want me to remove it?”

Nash: “Not yet. Leave it for now and we’ll remove it before the battle. In case something goes wrong, but I have faith in her. We just need her to take the power from Azrael first. She'll need to be our main target. She needs to die first. Why am I even discussing this with you? you're wasting my time. go to Amaya and do what you have to do.”

Tyy Leon: “I don't know where she is.”

Nash: “Right. I needed to move her to the dungeon. She misbehaved this morning. I'm telling you she's fighting it more and more. I can't risk her getting loose. She needs to obey me more. We need to prepare for the final battle and she'll be by my side.”

Tyy Leon: “I'll work on it.”

Nash: “Make sure Amaya wants to marry me after this.”

Tyy Leon: “Yes, alpha.”

In Nash’s head: I'm a genius. Not only will I finally enjoy it with her but when the battle comes I'll present her as my bride. I can see their faces. I'm sure that poor fool still loves her. I'll show him that Amaya’s mine. I'll destroy him before I kill him. (in the dungeon)

In Amaya’s head: I miss Azar. Nash is doing his best to make me stop thinking about him or mentioning him. What's worse, I can feel my memories of him starting to fade. I have to concentrate to remember his scent, his voice, the feeling of his touch, his lips on mine. It's all fading. This morning I rebelled and Nash punished me. I'm still recovering but I'll endure it all no matter what he has in store for me. The only thing keeping me alive is my determination to help Azar. I need to make things right before I die.

Amaya: “Who are you?”

Tyy Leon: “I’m Tyy Leon, I'm a warlock. Alpha Nash sent me.”

Amaya: “What do you want?!”

Tyy Leon: “He wants me to completely break the bond you had with Azar and help you finally accept him as your mate.”

Amaya: “I'll never accept him. Go and tell him that. Leave or I'll kill you. LEAVE!! (Tyy Leon’s doing magic)”

Tyy Leon: “Sopor!! (Amaya faints)”
