Chapter 417

Guess who shows up? Jared himself.

Agnes was like a deer caught in the headlights.

Jared didn't come chasing after her that night.

But Agnes knew, Jared had her all figured out

After all, Brayden was his buddy.

Agnes had been searching for Kerri, and she never meant to keep it a secret from Jared. She just wanted some space to think about their marriage and how to approach him.

In the hospital room, after a nurse checked Agnes' temperature, she was surprised to see Jared at the door. He came in, explaining, "Brayden only told me this morning that you're here." It was clear he was trying to convey that had he known earlier, he would've visited sooner.

As Jared approached with a food container, Agnes noted it was from their home, signaling that he'd prepared the meal. Her emotions swelled. The past days had solidified her decision. "Jared, we need to talk," she declared.

But Jared, ever calm, opened the container. "Eat first. I remember you wanted chicken soup. I finally made some."

*Jared, I want a divorce, Agnes interjected.

He continued, praising the flavor of the soup, seemingly dismissing her statement. Frustrated, Agnes knocked the bowl of soup onto the floor, where it shattered, sending the room into a tense silence. With a cold voice, Jared scolded, 'Agnes, I spent two hours on that soup. You didn't have to waste it."

"You ignored me first,' she countered.

"I heard you," he replied.

"Then let's not delay. I want a divorce."

His eyes grew cold. "No."

As Agnes began to explain her reasons, Jared interjected, "Alyssa already told me about everything"

Agnes was stunned, not expecting Alyssa to share their past with him. She wondered if Alyssa feared Jared's potential resentment.
