Agnes felt like she was carrying a boulder in her chest.

She had made a one-month pact with Alyssa.

But Alyssa had laid down an ultimatum - if Agnes couldn't convince Ryder to give her up, she ought to distance herself from both Ryder and Jared.

After breakfast, Agnes headed to the TV station.

She was taken aback to replace Ben, Ramona, and Hans all present in the office. Their eyes on her were weird, making Agnes even more suspicious that she had made a fool of herself last night after one too many drinks.

Agnes cut to the chase, "Look, if I did anything embarrassing last night after getting tipsy, just forget about it, okay?"

The room was still awkwardly silent.

Ramona, after a moment, said, "Boss, it's not us you should worry about. It's Mr. Whitfield."

Mr. Whitfield? Were they talking about Ryder? What did he have to do with anything?

A really bad hunch crept up Agnes' spine.

She steeled herself, "Spill it. What happened last night?"

Ramona looked at Agnes with a complex expression, "Boss, you got drunk and started stripping Mr. Whitfield in public. You insisted he shouldn't be wearing a suit, said he should wear a doctor's coat or something. It was... I can't even describe it."

Agnes felt her world tilt. She could've accepted singing or dancing embarrassingly, but this was beyond the pale.

Stripping Ryder... Had she lost her mind?

Seeing the shock on Agnes' face, Ramona tried to console her, "Agnes, don't beat yourself up. Actually, when you think about it, it's no big deal. Mr. Whitfield is your family, right? Just apologize to him next time you see him."

Agnes asked further, "How did I leave last night?"

"Mr. Whitfield carried you out."

"Which Mr. Whitfield?"

"Ryder, of course. See, he wasn't mad at all. He took such good care of you."

Agnes was taken aback.

So it was Ryder who had taken her away. No wonder Jared was so disturbed. But what Agnes couldn't recall was whether Ryder and Jared had any confrontation.

A classic case of alcohol causing trouble.

Agnes was filled with regret, and she muddled through her workday.

After leaving the office, Agnes made her way straight to Tim Tower. Nocturne was just coming around.

Jared stepped out of the conference room, Valeria close behind.

Valeria offered, "What do you feel like for dinner? I'll order takeout."

They had been working late on a new project these past days, their dinners consisted of office takeouts.

Jared slipped on his jacket, "I've got plans tonight. Don't stay too late yourself."

As he stepped out, he saw Agnes holding Nocturne not too far off.

Jared approached Agnes with a soft tone, "When did you get here?"

"Just now." Replying, Agnes glanced at Valeria.

Jared suggested, "Let's head out together then."

Agnes nodded.

Valeria watched them walk away, a slight frown creasing her forehead.
