The station chief had yet to give the green light, and everyone had been advising her not to stick her neck out too far. There were still aftershocks in the area, and the front lines were definitely hazardous. The entire nation's heartstrings were tugged with every bit of news from Goldfield Heights.

Agnes had pleaded with Mr. Judson for a chance to report from the scene.

It was only after Mr. Judson had a meeting with the station chief that they decided to let Agnes head to The Primary Perspective.

Agnes knew it could be dangerous, but this was the duty of a journalist. She had faced countless dangers before when she worked in Manhattan, and she was equipped with ample experience and adaptability. The very next day, Agnes and her team set off.

The earthquake had rendered the Goldfield Heights airport inoperable, so they had no choice but to drive. It was a long haul, roughly a day and a night on the road to reach Goldfield Heights.

The earthquake was severe, leaving parts of the epicenter resembling something out of hell itself.

Upon arrival, Agnes did an initial live report from the scene.

The next step was to proceed to the heart of the disaster zone in Bronzetown Borough.

When they reached Bronzetown Borough, Agnes was utterly stunned.

Houses were in ruins, the small town nearly reduced to rubble.

Most people had been evacuated.

But many firefighters and volunteers were still engaged in intense rescue efforts.

This was a small town in the mountains.

Landslides caused by the earthquake made rescue operations incredibly difficult.

The roads had collapsed and were blocked by debris.

The vehicles couldn't go any further, so Agnes and her crew had to continue on foot.

Agnes did a live broadcast on the scene.

During the broadcast, an aftershock occurred, temporarily halting the report.

Fortunately, the aftershock wasn't very strong.

At night, Agnes' group set up temporary tents in an open area.

Before Agnes could even lie down, Ramona came running over, "Boss, I've got good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?"

Agnes pinched the bridge of her nose, "Let's start with the bad news."

Ramona looked troubled, "The bad news is that the mountain road to Bronzetown Borough has collapsed, causing a massive pile-up of rocks. Rescue teams from outside can't get in. We're cut off from the outside world, and who knows how long we'll be stuck here."

Agnes' expression was steady as she asked, "And the good news?"

At this, Ramona perked up a little. She said, "The good news is that a volunteer medical rescue team got through before the road was cut off, and there's someone we know among them."

Agnes was curious, "Who made it through?"

Ramona stepped aside, and a tall figure entered the tent. It was Ryder.

Agnes was taken aback, "How did you get here?"

Agnes never expected to see Ryder. Her heart felt like it had been struck by something powerful.

Ryder said, "I saw your live news broadcast and came right over."

Ramona chimed in from the side, "Mr. Whitfield is such a devoted nephew, so concerned about his family's safety, huh?"

Previously, Ben had mentioned that this young Mr. Whitfield was the nephew of Jared, the CEO of the Tim Group. Legally, that made him Agnes' nephew, though he was older than her.

At Ramona's words, a chill seemed to emanate from Ryder, making her shiver.

Had she said something wrong? But Ramona sensed that the atmosphere between the two was a bit off.

Agnes didn't look overly thrilled to see Ryder; instead, she seemed startled and embarrassed.

The relationship between these two was a mystery.

Ramona said, "I'll go replace Ben at the medical station." With that excuse, Ramona quickly made herself scarce.
