When Agnes woke up, she found Jared seated at the edge of her bed.

She was nearly frightened out of her wits.

Glancing at the clock on the wall, it read 2 a.m. And her wrist was still cuffed to Jared's.

Maybe because she had finally managed to get some sleep, Agnes felt a bit more composed.

Lifting the handcuffs, she said, "Jared, can you take this thing off?"

Jared replied with a helpless tone, "There's only one key, and I tossed it away."

Agnes was speechless. She couldn't be bothered to ask why Jared even had such a thing.

But really, what was this? Being handcuffed together as if they were prisoners?

Agnes was already getting up, ready to get out of bed.

"What are you doing?" Jared asked.

"What do you think? I'm going to look for the key. Do you really want to stay handcuffed to me for life?" Agnes replied with irritation.

In a somewhat wistful tone, Jared responded, "If that's what it takes to keep you by my side, I wouldn't mind at all."

Agnes felt a pang in her heart at those words, but now wasn't the time for such thoughts.

She muttered, "I don't want to spend my life cuffed to you like a criminal."

Jared's voice seemed genuinely hurt, "Agnes, do you really hate me that much?"

When she looked up, she was caught in Jared's deep eyes. His gaze was like the ocean under a starry sky. Calm, yet tinged with a slowly flowing, somber mood. Like a sudden gust of wind whipping up the sea, it was irresistible.

Agnes found herself unexpectedly filled with compassion.

She couldn't bear to hurt him with her words any longer.

Looking at Jared like this, she felt like a butcher with a knife in hand.

Agnes averted her gaze and then said, "Jared, I need to use the

bathroom. If we don't replace the net

and get these cuffs off, how am I supposed to go?"

Jared looked surprised for a moment, but quickly suggested, "H go with you. After we replace the key, you can use the bathroom... maybe..."

O

He glanced at her with a mischievous twinkle in his eye.

Alright then, she should have known his heartbroken act was just for show.

This was his true nature.

Agnes was fuming, but she really did need to go.

Reluctantly, she had to take Jared with her.

When they reached the bathroom door, Agnes instructed, "You stand outside the door. Don't you dare come in."

"There's no need for that. After all,

we used to be husband annet

You shouldn't be so hung up.

this," he teased.

Agnes was infuriated, "I do mind, and you're not coming in."

Agnes lifted her hand, and Jared lifted his in response; the door couldn't even close properly.

Once she was inside, she couldn't even reach the toilet properly.

In the end, Jared had to come in.

Sure, they were husband and wife, but Agnes still felt incredibly awkward undressing in front of him.

"Jared, turn around and close your eyes."

"Alright, I won't look," he complied and turned away.

But the guy didn't close his eyes at all.

There was a mirror right there, and Agnes could see him keeping his eyes wide open, occasionally glancing over at her.

"Jared, are you a creep? Close your eyes."

Jared was obviously teasing her, but finally, with a smirk, he closed his eyes.
