Her Chosen Love -
Chapter 15
Layla's pov
I shot up from another nightmare. My body was slick with sweat and I was breathing like I just ran a marathon. I have been having nightmares since I woke up at the weird hospital thing.
I was now inside the castle that the hospital was attached to, and for some reason it seemed so familiar, but I didn't know why. I was told that I suffered from memory loss, so I could have been here before, but there is no way to know that. I may not even get my memories back.
I know my name is Layla and I know my brother is Liam, but that is about it. There is a couple that always comes to my room too. Their names are Will and Charlotte, and they say we were best friends, and it sucks not being able to remember the memories that we have together.
A lot of other people also come to my room, but two really stick out. Every time they come in the room, I get this weird feeling, and my head starts hurting. They look very similar to eachother, which makes me believe they are brothers. They later told me their names were Adrian and Aaron.
They both have dark colored hair, one black and the other dark brown. They both have sharp features and are very muscular, Adrian was more leaner than Aaron, but the main difference between them is their eyes. Adrian has blue eyes and Aaron has green eyes.
When they come in, they always look somber, and like they were restraining themselves. They were both sad and tense and for some reason it sent a pang through my chest.
Two days ago they told me what they were and I was actually afraid, but when they told me that wouldn't hurt me, I trusted them. There was just something about the two of them calmed me.
I was ripped out of my thoughts when someone knocked on the door. It was Aaron. He has started to come more often, than he did at first. With him I have less pressure because he told me he only knew me for a short time.
"I brought you food," he said while balancing a tray and opening the door.
As he got closer to me I started to feel self conscious. I just woke so my hair probably looks like a bird slept in it and I more than likely smelt like sweat. Thankfully he kept his observations to himself. He set the food down and I grabbed the bowl of fruit off to the side and started on that.
"Ummm . . . ." My head snapped over to where Aaron was standing.
"Yes?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to do something." He rubbed the back of his neck as he said this, and I could tell he was nervous. Noticing my silence he started to ramble. "I mean I figured you would want to get out of your room. You have been in here for a while, and I just thought that you may be tired of doing nothing and . . ." I cut him off with a laugh.
"No need to say all that. I will go with you just give me a second to take a shower and change." I said standing and placing the now empty bowl on the tray. He nodded and left the room, to get ready too probably.
I never asked what to wear, so I just threw on some ripped jeans and a t-shirt after taking my shower. You can never go wrong with that. I made sure I had everything I needed then I went to my door. I opened it and was shocked to replace Adrian with his fist raised to knock. I felt this unexplainable guilt, but I just ignored it.
"You look . . ." He cleared his throat then continued. "You look beautiful."
"Thank you," I said blushing.
"Are you going somewhere?"
"Yeah, Aaron believed I was getting sick of my room, so he offered to get me out of here." I felt like a child getting caught sneaking out for down reason. I hardly knew the guy so it didn't make any sense.
He seemed shocked and upset about what I told him, but he quickly masked it making me question if it was ever there at all. "You're going out with Aaron?"
"Yeah," I said looking down.
He opened his mouth to say something, but he immediately closed it. All he did was give me a curt nod then walked off, and while watching him walk away from me, I felt something inside of me break. Despite only knowing him for a short while, it hurt seeing him leave me. Shaking my head, I walked down the hall where I bumped into Aaron.
"You look gorgeous," he said smiling down at me. I of course blushed for the second time today.
"Oh, please. I am wearing jeans and a t-shirt."
"Which makes it all the more amazing." He pinned of lose hair behind my ear and took my hand in his.
"Where are we going?" I asked as he lead us out of the castle.
"It's a surprise."
"Can't you tell me though?"
"If I told you it wouldn't be much of a surprise, now would it?" He asked opening the car door.
"I guess not," I grumbled while crawling in. Aaron just laughed and walked to the drivers side.
While Aaron drove us to some place that I was still trying to figure out, I just stared out the window. Every now and then I would feel Aaron's gaze on me, but I didn't want to look and check.
We have hardly ever talked to eachother, but I feel some sort of pull towards him that I couldn't explain. It was like I needed him in my life. I knew it was ridiculous, but I couldn't help feeling this way. Over the whole drive, all I thought about was my feelings. I either had to face them or ignore them, and I didn't didn't know what to do.
After a while, Aaron tossed me a piece of cloth. "Put it on."
I tied the black scarf over my eyes to the best of my ability. When I was done, I just sat back in the seat and waited. After another minute, I felt the car come to a stop and heard Aaron get out. He opened my door and helped me get out of the car.
"Don't let me fall," I whispered to him.
"Never," he promised.

True to his word, be never let me fall, while we traveled through what I assumed was woods. If we came to a section of the woods that was hard for me to walk through, he would either grabs my hands and guide me, or he would pick me up and help me across. I was starting to get tired of walking, and as if sensing this, Aaron picked me up and carried me. We came to a stop after a few minutes, and he set me back on the ground.
"You can take it off now," he whispered in my ear.
I blushed at the feel of his breath on my ear and the back of my neck but reached behind my head to untie the cloth. I was struggling with the knot when a pair of hands replaced mine and delicately began undoing the knot. I shuddered as his hands lingered near my skin, and I hoped he didn't notice.
Finally he undid it and removed it from my eyes. As soon as it was gone, I gasped and brought my hand to my mouth. We were on a grass covered cliff, with a beautiful view of the stars. Laying on the ground was a blanket with a box of pizza on it, and I couldn't help the laugh that escaped my lips.
"Is it ok?" Aaron asked rubbing the back if his neck nervously.
"Yes, it's wonderful," I said smiling at him. He seemed to relax immediately. We both walked to the blanket and sat down. We ate the pizza which was surprisingly still hot, and just talked about random things.
We had been up here for a few hours when he stood up and held out his hand for me. I grabbed it, and he pulled me up.
"This is the real surprise," he said pulling me to the edge of the cliff. We sat down with our legs hanging down, and waited for whatever Aaron was excited about. When the first rays of light came from behind the mountain I sat amazed.
By now you could see half of the sun. It had a bright orange glow to it, and when I was able to see the full circle of it, I just stared. The sunrise was a mixture of colors that came together to form the most beautiful thing on earth. There was the color of the bright blue sky mixed with the orange and pink glow coming from the sun. In all it was very breathtaking.
"It's beautiful," I said, still entranced by the view.
"Yes, it is," Aaron whispered to me.
I turn to give him a smile, but it fades away as I notice how close his face was with mine. I just froze, not knowing what to do as he leaned in even closer. Just as his lips brushed mine, I saw something in my mind.
I was in a room that was completely destroyed. Glass and wood splinters littered the floor, and for some reason I was anxious. I ran to a man in the room and noticed it was Aaron. He had just stopped throwing stuff and was now punching the wall closest to him.
I ran to him and threw my arms around him, causing him to stop. He tensed at first but then relaxed. I started to ask if he was okay when he cupped my cheek. He leaned in, and just as his lips brushed mine, he was thrown off.
Snapping out of it, I pulled away from Aaron. He looked shocked and a little hurt when I did, but I was shocked by what I saw. Aaron seemed to notice my look of shock and his face turned to one of concern.
"What's wrong?" he asked, taking my face in his hands.
"I . . . . I don't know. I saw . . . . . something." I said slowly.
"What did you see?"
"I saw you punching a wall, and when I came to . . . calm you down, you . . . . you kissed me, but you were thrown off me." I said all this while looking down.
I was afraid I was just going crazy. I chanced a look up at Aaron, but just found him looking shocked. He didn't look at me in disgust and he didn't look at me questionably, and for that I was grateful.
He seemed to snap out of it quickly, and grabbed my hand, dragging me up. Without even saying a word, he picked me up bridal style, and now he was running through the woods. How he managed to see running in the dark at this speed I will never know. Despite the hour we hiked through the woods earlier, we were now at the car in less than five minutes.
"What's going on?" I asked as he practically shoved me into the car.
"Have you had any more of these visions?" he asked ignoring my question.
I shook my head at him, and he seemed to be genuinely disappointed. "Why is this so important?"
"Because you remembered something."
"So, isn't that supposed to be normal when someone loses their memories. They get flashbacks or something like that, right?"
"Usually yes, but in your case . . . ." He stopped then started again. "When you lost your memories, we were told you would never remember again. They told us you would have to start all the way over because you wouldn't get flashbacks or anything else to help you remember." As he said this, he never looked at me, like the thought gave him pain. He just looked at the road.
"So . . . We have kissed before?" I asked and he gave me a curt nod.
After that I just let the silence consume us. I now know that I have a chance to remember all that I forgotten, and I didn't know how to feel. I knew I should be excited, but I felt this strange anxiousness. I have a weird feeling I am forgetting something big, and I don't know if I really want to remember everything.
