Her Precious Baby -
Chapter 178
Chapter 178
After hearing all that, Nancy was no longer as furious as before. She frowned and asked, “You thinkthat Mr. Golding was the b*stard that he was years ago just because of a ring? Don’t you think thatyou’re being unfair to him?”
Angeline put down her fork and hugged her knees to her chest as she stared blankly into space.
“But all evidence points to Evander. How do you want me to act as if nothing had happened?”
“Didn’t you say that Hanson had found the ring in Joseline’s drawer? What if this was a lie she madeyears ago, and it was used to distract you?”
Upon hearing what Nancy said, Angeline suddenly had nothing to say.
After being reminded of that, she realized that she had acted too impulsively. She did not conduct aproper investigation before blaming Evander.
Even if she were wrong, she would not regret her decision.
She was quiet for a moment as she balled her hands into fists. Hatred flashed past her eyes.
“Even so, it’s impossible for me to be with a man that might ruin the rest of my life.”
No one had experienced the hell she went through at that time, so they would not be able tounderstand.
No one knew how she lived her life all these years. Not only did she hate Joseline, but she also hatedthe man that had forced himself on her back then.
Upon hearing what Angeline said, Nancy sighed heavily. She was reluctant to blame Angeline and felther heart clench as she hugged the latter.
“I understand, but you must look toward the future, Angeline. Don’t worry. I’ll help you to get the bestresources and build your path to fame. Although the past was horrible, you will have a better future.”
“Thank you for accompanying me. I’m fine.”
Angeline held her hands to her face and sobbed. When she looked up, the sadness was no longer onher face.
Being able to control her emotions was part of her practice as an actress.
Life was like a dream, and movies resembled life.
Nancy sighed again as she shook her head. She chuckled as she looked at Angeline. Her tone wasserious. “I know, as your friend, I shouldn’t say more. However, as an outsider, Evander might havedone something bad to you, but why did you hide it from him?”
Angeline was rendered speechless.
“You actually don’t treat him as someone close to you. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have been so cruel tosay you want to break up without telling him why.”
Upon hearing that, Angeline balled her hands on the table into fists. She was unable to describe theuncomfortable feeling that she felt in her heart.
That’s right.
She only saw Evander’s wrongdoings and distanced herself from him as she favored her perspective. Itwas indeed unfair to treat him like that.
What can I do? Should I tell Evander the truth? No. That’s impossible.
If it were true that Floretta was her biological daughter, then it would lead to fighting with Evander forher custody. Seeing how Evander valued Floretta, Angeline had no chance of winning.
Hence, she must be careful in everything. There must not be any mistakes.
At the same time, a black car drove fast toward a mansion at Willowbank. It stopped at the mansion’sentrance, and Joseline got out.
Since she wore high heels, her footing was unstable, and she stumbled to the door and unlocked it withher fingerprint.
However, after trying several times, the fingerprint could not be identified.
At that moment, a creaking sound could be heard, and the door was pushed open as a man walkedout.
He glanced at Joseline and hastily covered his nose. The stench of alcohol was piercing.
“Come in quick.”
The man helped her into the room. Dissatisfaction filled his heart as he looked at her drunken state.
“Just how much did you drink this time? These days, you frequent bars and get drunk. Once you’redrunk, you’ll come to me. Aren’t you afraid that Hanson might notice something?”
Joseline was drunk, but she could hear what the man said clearly. She chuckled sarcastically and felt asense of despair wash over her.
“Do you take Hanson for a fool? He already discovered our relationship.”
“What?”
The man’s expression changed, and he did not care to treat her gently as he threw her on the couch. His tone was cold as he said, “How could you be so careless? Did you forget that Old Mr. Sorelle is stillalive? We won’t get the company if he hasn’t given us his shares!”
Joseline yelped in pain as she fell to the ground. What the man said made her annoyed. Her gazeturned cold, and she did not hesitate to argue back.
“How dare you talk back to me, Henry? Why don’t you take a good look at yourself in the mirror? Don’tforget. This mansion is mine. Do you think you could live here if it weren’t for me?” Joseline saidfuriously with no signs of affection.
Henry would still be afraid whenever Joseline was infuriated. He quickly sorted out his emotions andput on his best smile to please her.
He sat on the couch, wrapped an arm around Joseline’s shoulders, kissed her face, and said, “Babe, you don’t need to be so agitated. I’m like this because I’m worried about you. Since Hanson found outabout us, we should come up with a different strategy.”
“Think of a new strategy if you want! I won’t care anymore!” Joseline forcefully pushed him away. Shewas half-sober as she yelled through clenched teeth, “If you didn’t persuade me time and time again, why would I do such horrible things? I’ve already cost the Sorelle family three lives. Now, whenever Iclose my eyes, all I see is them choking me as they seek revenge…”
She was on the verge of a breakdown. She held her hands to her head and had a pained expression.
Her voice echoed through the living room.
Henry turned pale from shock. He wrapped his arms around Joseline and hissed, “Calm down,Joseline. Be careful not to let others hear about it. I’m telling you, we have no other choice. Your sister,
Angeline, is already secretly investigating us!”
“What did you say?”
Joseline was taken aback. With Henry’s reminder, she slowly calmed down.
“My people sent me a letter. Angeline suspects that Old Mr. Sorelle’s death was not an accident. She’salready had someone examine his medications. I think the examination report is already out.”
Upon hearing that, Joseline could hear a buzz in her ear as she instinctively backed away. Shemuttered in disbelief, “No, that’s impossible. Angeline isn’t capable of doing that. Even that old mandidn’t notice anything wrong with the medications.”
Henry chuckled sarcastically. “You’ve really looked down on her. How could she be a fool if someonelike her became Evander’s woman?”
That was to remind her that Angeline had Evander to support her.
That was when Joseline lost her composure. Panic was written all over her face, and she could notspeak coherently.
“What should we do now? We can’t let Angeline expose us. Otherwise, we won’t receive a single centof the inheritance. They might even sue us.”
