“Evander, just chase them out. Why must we eat together?” Olivine mumbled unwillingly as she yankedEvander’s arm, trying to pull him up.

“Get out if you don’t want to eat,” Evander warned dangerously with cold and malicious eyes. He didn’tcare about Olivine’s pride at all.

Seeing Evander was in a bad mood, Olivine didn’t dare say anything else and sat down cautiously.

The tiny and exquisite table that was only meant for two was suddenly crowded with people.

Nevertheless, Jacob seemed pleased and conversed with Evander from time to time. Although he wasconstantly being rejected by the latter, he didn’t mind it at all.

Meanwhile, Angeline felt uncomfortable as she sat beside Evander. She massaged her aching temples,feeling like she was on the verge of breaking down.

Goodness gracious! How am I supposed to continue eating my meal, especially with Olivine sittingbeside me and glaring at me viciously? It’s already a miracle that I haven’t puked.

Thus, she got up from her seat and excused herself to go to the restroom, fleeing the area.

After leaving the dining table, Angeline finally felt at ease. If I had known today’s situation wouldhappen, I would never have accepted Jacob’s invitation!

Then, she took out her lipstick and freshened up her makeup. Just as she was about to exit therestroom, a tall figure appeared in front of her and blocked her view.

A chilling air hit Angeline in the face, sending goosebumps all over her arms.

She subconsciously tightened her grip on her purse when she saw Evander’s face. After freezing inplace for a second, she spoke up. “Mr. Golding, this is the women’s restroom. The men’s restroom is

over there—”

Before Angeline could finish her sentence, Evander grabbed hold of her wrist, causing her to feel aburning pain.

“Do you really think I will believe what you said at the dining table just now when he invited you to acandlelit dinner and addressed you so intimately?” Evander said gloomily while inching toward her untilshe was leaning against the wall.

Angeline knitted her brows slightly. I knew Evander wouldn’t let me off the hook so easily. “Mr. Golding,I didn’t lie to you. Jacob and I are really just partners working on the same film.”

Angeline shook his hand off her wrist and examined his expression while asking carefully, “Besides, aslong as I don’t get into a scandal and hinder Starlight Jewelry’s business, you don’t have to be soagitated, right?”

Hearing Angeline’s retort, Evander was stunned.

In an instant, he couldn’t answer her question at all.

At first, he genuinely despised Angeline as he assumed she had approached him with a hiddenagenda.

After knowing her for some time, he realized she wasn’t what he had imagined her to be. She wasn’tjust someone who merely had tricks up her sleeve. On the contrary, she was someone who wascapable and independent. Moreover, the woman was also passionate about her career.

Therefore, Evander stopped hating her unknowingly. In fact, he even grew fond of her cooking.Gradually, he wanted to get closer to her.

Now, he was oddly annoyed when he saw Jacob and Angeline being so close.

Am I really frustrated because I’m worried she’ll affect my business?

“Mr. Golding.”

Evander regained his senses when he heard Angeline’s voice again.

He maintained his composure and hid away the strange emotions he was feeling, then said coldly,“Stop being so delusional, Angeline.”

Angeline was rendered speechless. What? How am I being delusional?

“Golding Group and Starlight Jewelry are companies that sink or swim together. Since I’m offering youa lucrative payment, you shall oblige to your responsibilities,” Evander reminded her in a deep voice. “Ididn’t offer you the opportunity just for you to date someone in the film crew!”

“I…” Angeline was embarrassed by his remarks. She clenched her fists and took a deep breath beforedefending herself in a flat tone, “Mr. Golding, you can stop worrying if that’s your concern. I simply seeJacob as my brother. There’s no way we’ll date each other.”

“It’s good that you know your place,” Evander said slowly with his usual stony expression. However, hesecretly felt relieved.

Yet, Angeline bit her lip as a sense of uneasiness rose within her. She was merely having dinner withher colleague, but she was warned by Evander out of the blue.

“Mr. Golding, I will do my best to shoot The Journey and make it popular.” Angeline looked straight intoEvander’s eyes without fear. She then reminded him while enunciating every word clearly, “But I merelyagreed to act as Starlight Jewelry’s brand ambassador. I didn’t sign an indenture.”

She didn’t sign an indenture… Is she indirectly saying I’m interfering with her business?

With that thought in mind, Evander’s face fell immediately as he stared at Angeline dangerously.

Angeline gulped in fear and avoided his gaze.

She regretted her words as soon as they left her mouth.

Oh gosh! Why did I become so daring all of a sudden? I can’t believe I actually talked back to Evander!

She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, yet she decided to swallow the words on the tip ofher tongue.

Lowering her head, she frantically walked past Evander to leave the place.

Just then, he grabbed her arm with a gloomy expression and dragged her away from the restaurantforcefully.

Meanwhile, at the dining table, Olivine and Jacob were both annoyed by each other. Hence, they didn’tspeak at all while waiting for Evander and Angeline to return.

However, Evander and Angeline were nowhere to be seen after half an hour.

Furrowing her brows, Olivine grew more and more impatient. She slammed her fork on the table beforecrossing her arms around her chest and complaining softly, “What’s going on with Evander? I thoughthe just went outside to smoke a cigarette. What’s taking him so long?”

Jacob looked at her and sneered, “Do you really believe him?”

“What do you mean?” Olivine glared at him and retorted agitatedly. “Evander will never abandon melike this!”

Jacob didn’t answer the woman and merely looked at her as if she was a clown.

After receiving such a look from him, Olivine gradually lost her confidence. However, she still pretendedto be calm.

She took out her phone from her purse and called Evander. Yet, only a mechanical female voicesounded from the phone. “Sorry. The number you have dialed is busy at the moment…”

Olivine was unwilling to give up and continued to redial the phone number, but the outcome of each callwas the same.

“You can stop calling him now. They’ve already left,” Jacob said casually before showing Olivine themessage he had just received on his phone.

It was a message from Angeline informing Jacob not to wait for her anymore, as Evander had alreadysent her home.

After reading the message, Olivine’s expression darkened. She clenched her fist so hard that herglittery and long nails dug into her palms.

She would’ve tossed the phone away if Jacob hadn’t taken it back from her quick enough.

This f*cking b*tch! Who does she think she is? How dare she seduce Evander like this?

However, there wasn’t a hint of surprise on Jacob’s face. He simply picked up his fork and knife tocontinue eating his steak. From the second that Evander walked through the door, Jacob had alreadysensed something amiss, not to mention the former leaving with Angeline.

Right then, Olivine suddenly spoke. “You like Angeline, right?”

Jacob stopped cutting the steak and glanced up at her with an innocent smile. “What do you mean,missy? I don’t understand what you’re talking about.”

The look on Olivine’s face changed drastically when she heard him address her as “missy.” She pickedup the glass of water on the table and took a huge gulp, trying to suppress the frustration within her.
