Her Precious Baby
Chapter 98

Chapter 98

“S-So cold…”

Angeline kept shivering after the cold shower, but it was definitely effective in helping her regain hersenses.

Evander, however, was triggered by the alluring scene before his eyes.

Angeline’s clothes were close to non-existent. Whatever fabric remained was stuck to her body aftergetting wet and was pretty much transparent.

Under the dim warm light, her skin seemed slightly flushed.

Evander gulped at that sight, and his breathing gradually got heavier.

What a troublesome woman!

Even though it was difficult to withhold his urges, he would not take advantage of her in this situation. There was no need for him to stoop to that level.

Angeline eventually broke free from the effects of the drug. Nevertheless, all her energy had beenzapped from her body, so she lost consciousness right after.

By then, Sylas had returned with a doctor. He was trying to eavesdrop outside the door, but he heardnothing.

Don’t tell me… Did Mr. Golding get sexually assaulted by Angeline Sorelle?

Sylas kept pacing back and forth with sweat dripping down his face.

Just when he was contemplating whether to disrupt the session on the other side of the door, Evanderbellowed, “Come in!”

Sylas nearly lost his soul from the shock of hearing that roar. He hastily pushed open the door.

“Mr. Golding, I’ve brought the doctor here.” He took a glance around and did not see the intimate scenehe was expecting to see.

All Sylas saw was Evander in a drenched shirt that highlighted the latter’s beautifully sculpted backmuscles. There were also water droplets on Evander’s hair, putting him in a rather pathetic state, astate that he had never been in before.

Angeline seemed to be in a worse state. She was lying in a puddle of water, unsure whether dead oralive.

Seeing that, Sylas walked forward anxiously after grabbing a towel. “Mr. Golding, are you okay?” heasked in a concerned tone.

“I’m fine.”

With a darkened expression, Evander took the towel and wrapped Angeline’s wet body with it. He thencarried her out from the bathtub and gently placed her on the bed.

He shot a glance toward the doctor and ordered, “Give her a thorough checkup, especially her brain—see if it’s damaged.”

She’s not exactly smart to begin with, so she shouldn’t get any dumber.

“Understood, Mr. Golding.”

The doctor calmly walked over, checked Angeline’s body with a stethoscope, and explained, “Mr.Golding, this lady was indeed drugged but the effects are under control now. She will probably beawake soon.”

“Okay.”

“Mr. Golding, you’re all wet too. Do you need a checkup as well?” asked the doctor.

“No need. I’m not that fragile. You can all leave now.”

“Sure.” After prescribing some medicine, the doctor was escorted out by Sylas. He did not dare to utteranything else.

Silence fell upon the room. As he squeezed the water from his shirt, a thought suddenly flashed acrossEvander’s mind. His gaze fell on Angeline’s wet clothes. Soon after, he grabbed his car key from thetable and left.

When Angeline finally woke up, she felt as though her body had been knocked over by a car. She wasalso suffering from an unbearable headache.

The unsightly mess on the floor caused her to space out as she sat on the side of the bed.

What… happened? Wasn’t I attending a banquet? How did I end up in a hotel room?

Angeline looked at the unfamiliar surroundings and tried her best to recall what had happened. Slowly, images of a server handing her a glass of wine started flashing before her eyes.

Something’s wrong with that wine!

Instantly, Angeline managed to put all the pieces together.

The man who nearly sexually assaulted her was in cahoots with the server. It was all a vicious scheme.

Angeline grabbed the bedsheet tightly while wearing a bitter expression and gasping for air.

Who is it? Who set me up?

Right then, someone turned the doorknob.

Feeling fearful, Angeline instinctively hid under the covers.

Evander walked in after opening the door, carrying multiple bags.

“You’re awake?” He was surprised to see her awake.

Angeline furrowed her brows, shocked as well. “Why are you here?”

“If it wasn’t for me, you would have been ravaged!”

Upon hearing his reply, Angeline realized Evander was the one who had saved her.

This memory was long forgotten after she was drugged.

She said softly, “Thank you, Mr. Golding.” She was still clenching the covers, and she did not have thecourage to look him in the eye.

Evander passed a bag to her and reprimanded, “You call yourself a top celebrity? Don’t you have anysense of vigilance? Would you just drink anything given by anyone?”

Angeline was embarrassed, so she lowered her head and mumbled, “I… didn’t think that a bad guywould disguise himself as a server. I thought he was just a hotel employee.”

“You won’t be this lucky every time. Go change into some clean clothes. The doctor has prescribedsome medicine for you. If you don’t want to take it, just dump it into the trash can,” said Evander whilepointing toward the bedside table.

Angeline was taken aback by what he had just said. She opened the bag and found a brand-newdress, along with some undergarments.

So he left just now to buy me new clothes?

A strange feeling welled up within her heart. Before she could dive deeper into that thought, sheentered the bathroom with the new clothes.

After changing, she got out and accidentally saw Evander who was changing his shirt. She saw hisperfectly toned arms and eight-pack abs.

She hastily covered her eyes with her hands, her face red.

“Y-You! Why didn’t you say you were changing?”

“Do I need your permission to change?” Evander replied calmly while quickly putting on his shirt.

He raised his eyes and saw Angeline. The white chiffon dress fitted her slender figure nicely. Withoutheavy makeup, she looked even more lovable.

“Not bad,” he remarked.

Evander had come across all kinds of women, and even he had to admit that Angeline was a beauty.

She had unique features that could easily capture one’s attention. That was her advantage in theentertainment industry.

Angeline’s eyes were filled with disbelief. Never in a million years had she expected to get acompliment from Evander.

“It’s because you chose well. This suits me perfectly,” she said incoherently, feeling nervous.

However, she was not lying. Everything fitted her so well, even the undergarments.

Angeline felt apologetic as she looked at Evander. She honestly did not expect to be saved by him atsuch a critical moment.

“It’s getting late.” After saying that, Evander turned around and was about to leave.

Staring at his back, Angeline felt a sense of awkwardness and sadness.

She had not yet recovered from the traumatic incident, so she had an irrational fear of being in a hotel.

If Evander left just like that, she did not know how she could muster the courage to leave by herself.

Suddenly, she heard him asking, “Why are you still standing there?”

“Ah?” Angeline was stunned.

“Do you want to be swamped by all the media reporters downstairs?”
