Her Rebirth of Retribution
Chapter 59 Making Enemies

His tone grew cold towards the last sentence, as he was obviously reminded of some people he didn't like very much.

His imposing demeanor made Benedict's face break out in sweat and didn't think about being closer to Kallum anymore. He ended up being more like a subordinate, saying yes to everything. After an hour, the stylist quietly exclaimed, "Perfect! You are my most beautiful art piece to date!"

Kallum put down his laptop to look, and the entire house was lit up by her beauty.

Calista was already very pretty even without makeup, but the smoky makeup masked any gentleness left on her and brought out her sharp and domineering side.

Her fair complexion and bright red lips were very aggressive and looked icy even when she smiled. She was like a countess from centuries ago, with an icy and untouchable elegance.

Kallum was very pleased with everything from the makeup to the gray shimmery evening gown, but she was missing a statement piece, and he was already all prepared.

Emerald was too somber, and diamonds were too flashy, so Kallum had chosen a ruby necklace and put it on for her.

Calista wasn't used to Kallum wrapping his arms around her like this, and she could see that this necklace must be extremely valuable. But she didn't say anything since she figured she'd just return it to him once they got back from the auction.

Kallum saw how the rubies complimented her exquisite collarbones, and suddenly didn't feel like taking her out anymore. He felt that this immense beauty should be enjoyed by him alone.

Kallum was an extremely domineering character - since he had already decided on Calista, he'd even thought about which school their children should attend already. He didn't think Calista saying that she didn't like him really meant anything, since feelings could be nurtured and she had such deep feelings for him before anyway.

"It's very late, shouldn't we get going?"

Calista quickly spoke up because she realized Kallum kept staring at her lips and she felt like she could be in danger.

Kallum thought it was a pity that he couldn't touch her lips - the stylist had applied several layers of lipstick, and if he touched them, this perfectionist stylist would surely go crazy and so he resisted the urge and hoarsely replied, "Ok, let's go."

The auction was to be held at a private manor, and Kallum played with her fingers the entire way from the moment Calista got into the car, and even asked very seriously how she wanted him to chase after her.

Calista had never been in a relationship before, and she didn't know that Kallum was so excited and had so much initiative once he was in love, so she kept a cold face on the whole time. But somehow Kallum wasn't angered by this at all, and still tried to replace conversation topics that he felt she would be interested in.

When she alighted from the car, Calista breathed a sigh of relief, but she was surprised to hear a voice call out, "Isn't this Ms. Stafford? I'm so happy we get to meet again."

Calista narrowed her eyes immediately upon hearing this voice. Sterling was indeed here. Kallum stood in front of her and stared hard at Sterling before bringing Calista into the manor.

Sterling's face immediately changed. When he got to the manor, he thought that even though there was some unhappiness between the Fairchilds and him because of the Jonathan case, that was merely a small matter. If the two families agreed to work together, they would stand to gain so much! So he purposely chose to wait here for Kallum to try and mend their relationship, but Kallum wasn't having any of it.

But then when he thought about Harvey's instructions, he didn't dare to anger him, and quickly caught up with Kallum.

"Mr. Kallum seems to dislike me - is it because of Ms. Stafford? I can explain things, perhaps there's a misunderstanding somewhere."

Although that was what he said, Sterling didn't think Kallum was keeping his distance because of Calista. To people like him, even a wife could be abandoned at any time for the sake of business, never mind a fiancée, so there must be some other reason for this. Calista glanced at Kallum, because she thought that Kallum's attitude toward Sterling was indeed offensive. Sterling was an important representative of the Wolford family, but Kallum obviously looked like he wanted to be enemies with him instead. Seeing that Kallum continued to ignore him, Sterling stood in front of him and blocked his way. He started showing some anger on his face, and his voice grew a little aggressive. "Mr. Kallum, did you not hear me talking to you?"

Kallum finally raised an eyebrow. "You have no right to talk to me."

Sterling chortled in anger. "Do you mean to say the Wolford family isn't good enough?"

Kallum arrogantly lifted his head. "No, what I mean to say is that you're merely the Wolford family's dog, and I don't talk to dogs."

Sterling's face immediately darkened in anger, and Calista could even hear the chattering of his bones as he clenched his fists.

Everyone around them who was about to enter the auction hall together quickly made their escape elsewhere when they heard Kallum's words. They didn't want to become collateral damage should the two of them decide to fight each other, since nothing good would come out of offending either the Wolfords or the Fairchilds.

Sterling tried his best to maintain his composure. He had always been respected and feared all his life, and this was the first time he had been humiliated so badly.

He took in a deep breath, "....I am the heir to the Wolford family..."

"You're only a foster son," Kallum cut

him off and coldly analyzed the situation for him, “If Harvey has a child, then you will have to give this position up. So you're not an heir, but merely a stand in because he has no choice, and so it doesn't actually matter whether you exist or not since anybody could be a stand in."

"Kallum! Are you trying to make enemies with the entire Wolford family?!"

Sterling couldn't stand it anymore. He had heard all about how Kallum was rude and prudish, but he'd never expected him to be this arrogant!

Kallum snorted, and his beautiful and bright almond shaped eyes shone even brighter than fire.

"This is the first time I've heard of a dog being able to speak on behalf of its owner."

Kallum then proceeded to just walk past Sterling towards the auction hall. The intense tension of the moment made everyone watching immediately start murmuring to one another. They thought that Sterling might suddenly lose his temper and punch Kallum! So everyone just stopped to let Kallum go first.

It was so scary - did the two families have some unsettled feud with one another? Nobody had ever heard of this.

Calista couldn't help but ask as well, "Do you have a bone to pick with the Wolfords?"

She glanced over at Sterling who was behind them with a nasty look on his face, and said disapprovingly, "Even if you do, you shouldn't be so obvious about it. The Fairchilds are a powerful family, but the Wolfords

are a vengeful bunch with no`

morals. As the old saying goes, it is

better to offend a gentleman than to offend a petty man."

Kallum looked at her strangely.

"You are the one who has a bone to pick with him, no?"

Calista froze.

He laughed and pulled Calista into his arms and continued speaking as if this was expected of him, "You have a feud to settle with him, so that means I have a feud to settle with him too! Don't worry, you don't have to fear a family like the Wolfords." Calista was still in shock, so Kallum smiled broadly and raised an eyebrow as he asked, "So, are you thinking about how good I am? Do you feel like you like me all over again?"

Kallum's thinking was very simple.

After what happened with Jonathan, he found out that the Wolfords had some connection to Yelena and Quincy, so if he guessed correctly, Calista was eventually going against the entire Wolford family at some point in time, because the Wolfords generally operated by being the first to attack.

So he hadn't said anything wrong - since the Wolford family would become Calista's enemies, and her enemies were his enemies. Since they were enemies, then why should he give them any leeway? Or hide his intentions?
