Her Revenge Contract -
Chapter 23
Katherine's
POV
I scrunched my hands into fists as the driver sped off toward the harbor. It was just luck that the driver heard my call.
Anger radiated off me, and the driver peaked at me through the rear mirror.
"Ms. Kate," the driver said, "are you okay?"
"Do I look okay?" I snapped, "They are unbelievable!"
The driver kept quiet and let me wend. I needed to get the frustration out of my system before I arrived.
The lights of the city flew passed us... as the driver rushed toward the harbor, most probably exceeding the speed limit.
My gaze moved to the tall buildings surrounding us, and I knew we were close.
The driver's phone suddenly rang, and I turned my gaze toward him.
Was it Xavier calling to know where we were?
"About five minutes," the driver answered, "uhm, Ms. King was locked up..."
The driver suddenly became quiet, then looked at me through the rear window.
"She threw a shoe at me to get my attention..."
My face turned red, feeling embarrassed.
"... she gave me a key. Yes, we are on our way..."
He cut the call seconds later and pushed the vehicle's accelerator to go even faster...
As soon as the yacht came into view, I released a breath I didn't know I was holding and sat back.
The ship hasn't left yet...
The driver stopped the car and rushed to open the passenger door for me. I thanked him, and he nodded his head and left.
A crowd of people standing close by went wild as soon as they saw me, and I lifted my hand and waved at them.
I turned my gaze and took the first step on the red carpet toward the yacht. Excitement followed between the flashing of cameras as I walked forward.
When silence followed, I turned my gaze to what everyone was looking at, and a smile filled my lips.
Xavier was dressed in a black suit with a white shirt underneath. His clothes were neat and expensive, yet it was the look he gave me that made my heart leap out of my chest.
His blue eyes darkened as he slowly approached me, like a wild animal stalking his prey. His intoxicating scent hit my nose and enveloped me in a sexual magical spell.
He took my hand in his, leaving butterfly kisses on my fingers and sending sensual sparks down to my core.
A giggle escaped my lips, and my cheeks flustered. The sexual tension between us was noticeable to everyone...
Xavier lifted his gaze in search of mine and as soon as our gazes locked I could see little devils dancing in them. "You look, breathing!" He said with a voice thick with emotion.
He carefully pulled me closer to him and I shivered at his touch...
"Oh, Goddess!" I internally moaned out of pleasure, "This wolf of yours is creating feelings I can't explain..."
His rock-hard c*ck brushed against my upper thigh... and I gasped out suprised...
My mind raced as the cameras flashed around us...
Images of that night flashed before my eyes, and for a mere second, I almost told him to take me there and then...
I swallowed hard, trying to control my wants and needs, and as I found my voice to speak, the words that left my lips were full of lust...
"So do you..." I said, licking my lips.
Xavier must have smelled my arousal. He bent down and whispered in my ear...
"If this party wasn't so important," he said, his breath tickled my nape, making my knees buckle under me... "I would have swept you away..."
I got lost in every word Xavier lustfully said to me.
"... and show you how much your body wants and craves me..."
The yacht siren went off, startling both of us, and Xavier took a step away from me.
"All abroad!" The captain called, indicating that the boat would leave soon.
Xavier held out his arm for me to take, and I stepped toward him...
"Kate!" John called angrily, and I turned towards his voice.
"Yes?" I answered, giving him a cold death glare. I was sure he was responsible for my delay, yet he ignored my expression and continued. "Where have you been?" He hissed, "The driver said he couldn't replace you!"
"Maybe if..." I started to say, but was cut off by Xavier's angry growl.
My gaze snapped back to where he stood, seeing Erika had interlinked her arm with Xavier and was pulling him toward the yacht.
Was this girl that desperate? And that before witnesses?
The crowd of bystanders booed Erika, but she ignored the crowd of bystanders and kept on pulling on Xavier's arm.
"That's enough!" Xavier roared, startling her and bringing the crowd to silence once again. Everyone's focuses shifted toward Erika and Xavier.
"Which part don't you understand?" Xavier asked through gritted teeth and patted his suit where Erika touched as if she had spoiled that part of his suit.
"I HAVE NO INTEREST IN YOU!" Xavier sneered and his eyes turned purple for a mere second, pinning his gaze on her. Ray must be on the surface, and it doesn't look good.
Blood left Erika's face, and she took a bewildered step back.
"Uhm, Mr. Black," John stepped in between them, "I apologize for my daughter's enthusiasm. She can be a little too eager some days..."
Xavier huffed in annoyance, pulled his suit straight, and turned toward me, holding his hand out for me to take.
I didn't hesitate and went to his side before he snapped and did something he would regret...
Hand in hand, we walked onto the yacht... and Xavier steered me toward the front of the boat.
A waiter passed with glasses of champagne, and Xavier took two flutes and gave me one.
"That was intense..." I commented and took a sip of the fruity champagne.
"I don't like being touched by others, except my mate..." Xavier said, his gaze hard and serious.
"Xavier..." I shifted my head to the side, trying to read Xavier.
"I know you can feel the bond between us," Xavier said, and turned his gaze to look over the waters.
"I do," I answered, truthfully, "but that..."
"Don't!" Xavier cut me off, "Don't tell me you don't want to be with me because you are human..."
I walked toward the rail of the boat and shifted my gaze toward the waters. The water below reflected the lights of the city before us and created a breathtaking scenery as if someone painted on the water. "Xavier..." I whispered, "This..." I lifted my head, replaceing him standing inches from me. The longing and want were written in his eyes.
"Will work..." he cut me off, "I have one of the strongest packs in existence..."
"But..."
"Don't..."
"I am human!" I lashed out, and Xavier flinched and took a step back.
"You are not human," he argued, seriously.
"I am, Xavier... look at me!"
"Well, if you are as human as you believe you are, why are your eyes changing color when you get angry or frustrated...?" He asked.
"I don't know what are you talking about?" I cut him off.
A ghost of a smile followed on Xavier's lips, and he came closer and bent over to my ear.
"In the beginning, I thought it was the lighting..." Xavier said, "But now I am sure..."
"Sure of what?" I asked and took a step back.
"You are more wolf than you think..."
"I am not!" I argued and downed the rest of my drink.
"Yes, you are, and Greyson has a theory about why you haven't shifted yet..."
"Greyson?" What the hell does Greyson have to do with any of this?
"Yes, Greyson," he answered, "he did some digging into your family line and history..."
"Seriously, Xavier!" I growled, "That's personal..."
"Anything to do with you concerns me..." he argued, "you are my mate!"
I sighed, defeated.
"Come!" Xavier said and took my hand, "Greyson says that your uncle would like to start the proceedings..."
