Her Revenge Contract -
Chapter 62
Katherine's POV
"Pack your things; we are leaving!" Xavier growled dangerously under his breath, his eyes flickering between black and blue.
I internally sighed; it would make things a bit more difficult to get my answers.
I nodded, and Xavier helped me off the bed.
I walked to my closet, grabbed different work suits, and laid them on the bed.
"What are you doing?" Rose gasped, surprised, as she walked in. She sounded a bit nervous, seeing me pack my toiletries. "You are still ill, and the doctor told me that you need rest." Xavier cut the call and walked to me, deliberately ignored Rose, and gently pulled me to his chest.
"You don't have to bring so many things," he said. "What will the assistant do?"
Originally, it was a common comment, but I suddenly blushed when I heard it. Xavier saw that I looked slightly flustered, and he instantly knew I was faking amnesia.
John walked in soon after; purple marks were embedded around his throat.
"Are you moving out?" He asked, puzzled.
"I'll take care of Kate," Xavier said. "When she has healed and wants to return, I will not stop her. Until then, she will be staying with me."
John must have seen the coldness in Xavier's eyes and quickly took a step aside. I guess something inside Xavier's glare told him to f*ck off or else.
Xavier picked up my bag and took me by the hand.
As we opened the front door, a vehicle stopped, and Greyson got out.
"Alpha Xavier, everything is ready," he said, winking at me.
"Then let us not wait; let's go."
With that, Xavier picked me up and carried me to the car.
I turned my head, looking out the window, and saw Rose and John standing
"Do you pretend to have amnesia again?" Xavier said, frowning with a wry smile.
"Rose has become suspicious about whether I have amnesia or not. I need to keep on pretending to have amnesia to replace John's weakness."
Xavier gave me a serious look, rubbing his fingertips unconsciously, yet he didn't say a word.
Xavier's home wasn't my first visit, but this time I gave the place a proper look.
The whole place was decorated in black and white, which reminded me of Xavier's personality. Everything Xavier did was in black and white, right or wrong; there were no shades of color in his perfect world. Xavier showed me around, and when we passed his bedroom, I couldn't help but peek inside.
Old memories flooded my mind when I saw Xavier standing with only a towel. Even though the passionate night was one I will always remember, it also reminded me of what Rose did to me.
I sighed, shook off the old memories, and immediately turned my gaze and followed Xavier.
"This is your room," Xavier said, pushing the bedroom door open.
The first thing I saw was the huge bed, then the warm colors inside the room. In contrast with the rest of Xavier's home, this room was asymmetrical to Xavier's taste.
I shifted an eyebrow at Xavier, and he chuckled, amused.
"The doctor said that you need to be exposed to bright colors. According to him, it will help you heal faster."
"Thank you," I said, pecking his cheek.
After Xavier left, an Omega servant came and helped me unpack.
I noticed that the whole residence was way different from what I was used to.
Although there are Omega servants, it is surprisingly quiet.
I sighed, feeling depressed and bored. At least at home I could eavesdrop and know what was going on; here everything was quiet.
I sighed and pulled my phone closer, searching for the daily news on the internet.
As soon as I opened my regular browser, articles about today's events popped up.
The headlines of each article showed Erika's panicked face, and the headlines were even more exciting.
"Giants conspiracy? Malicious frame-up! Sisterhood collapses."
"Erika King was pretending to apologize, yet she threatened to kill the heir of the King Group."
"All recorded on audio! The life of the heir of the King Group was threatened, and the chairman responded," It was just a joke."
I flipped through every news article until I found the one I actually wanted to read.
This article stated that I was assaulted, sustained a head injury, and have a picture to prove it. However, the comments on this news article were few, but the viewing was very high.
During dinner, I browsed through the news while eating the soup the doctor recommended I have.
I logged into the King Group Intranet network with my ghost account for a girl called Sophia.
There was a statement made by the public relations department that caught my attention, and I opened the article.
The content of the statement was about all the emergencies in the morning.
It recorded everything about the events and even described Erika as an innocent girl who had severe depression.
There were a few narratives about me, but it was easily noticed that whoever wrote the statement disliked me.
I almost spat out the soup as I read through the whole article.
"John went to great lengths to maintain Erika's image. The statement admitted that Erika had done what she did. It was also said that I became a monster when I found out what she had done. It seems that the public relations department of King's Group was quite good at twisting the truth."
"I heard that the directors of the King Group are pissed at John and want to dismiss him," Xavier said.
"Come again?" I said this and lifted my gaze to Xavier.
"The board doesn't believe his explanation," he answered, smiling.
"What he said in his statement is so emotional and manipulative that even my dog would believe it."
"You don't have a dog, as far as I know!" Xavier said and sat back in his chair, crossing his arms and watching me.
"True," I said, "but if he had one, he would certainly have believed John. He is the world's best manipulator."
I sighed, feeling extremely tired, got up, and headed toward my room.
Once inside, I got some PJs out and headed to the bathroom, opening the shower.
"Urgh," I moaned, remembering that my head was covered with gauze and couldn't get wet.
"Bloody, John," I growled, annoyed.
"Kate," Xavier called from the bathroom door, "are you all right?"
"I'm fine," I said, a bit harshly.
"It doesn't sound like it," he said, slowly opening the door. "I heard your growl."
"I'm fine, Xavier!"
I turned around to face Xavier at the door, and I gasped, seeing him with only his boxer on. Under the steamy light, he looked even more mysterious and sexy.
Xavier took two long strides and closed the gap between us, then reached out and untied my bathrobe.
My breath hitched.
"What are you planning to do?" I asked.
"Help you take a bath," he calmly answered. He turned, closed the shower tap, and ran a bath for me.
"Don't worry," I argued, and I cut him off. "I'll manage and do it myself."
Xavier lifted an eyebrow yet continued with what he was saying: "Or I can ask an Omega servant to help you."
"No," I said, shaking my head.
Xavier slid the rope from my shoulders, and I shivered as his fingers brushed against my skin.
My face heated up, yet Xavier concentrated on the tasks at hand. My gaze moved over his perfect features, and I held my breath against his intoxicating scent; it was driving my insides to mush. Xavier lifted me in bridal style and set me in the bathtub.
"Xavier," I said as soon as I was in the bath, "I want to go to work tomorrow!"
"We can talk about it later," he said, giving me a tender smile as he got up. "I will be right back! You just lay back and relax!"
I nodded, and Xavier left me to soak up the warmth of the water, and my mind wandered off to today's events. I closed my eyes, trying hard to relax, yet the same question popped up in my mind. How will I be able to defeat Uncle if so many obstacles are thrown my way?
