Xavier's POV

I was slightly dazed when Kate sounded happy on the phone. After thinking for a moment about what she said, I called Sophia. "Alpha Black," she answered, surprised to have been called this late, "what can I do for you?"

"Has Luna arrived?" I asked.

"No, Alpha, heavens, what for?" She answered, and that second I knew Kate lied to me, and I became ferocious! Doesn't Kate learn?

"Let me know if Luna does arrive," I said, cutting the call.

I didn't expect Kate to hide something from me, and my chest tightened, knowing that she couldn't trust me.

"Xavier, do I still need to stop and pick up Luna at the office?" Greyson asked.

When I didn't answer, Greyson turned toward me and must have seen my angry facial expression.

"No," I answered, "go directly to Shivering Angels."

I hated the place, but most CEOs and stakeholders loved to do business there.

Greyson took the car to a stop; I got out, and he went to park the car in the VIP area.

I pulled my shirt straight and started toward the entrance of the club.

As soon as I stepped foot inside the club, some of the women spotted me.

"What brings Alpha Xavier here tonight?" One of the women asked, "We don't get to see you much here now that you are engaged!"

"Am I dreaming?" another yelled.

I watched as a 30-year-old male got on stage and how the women went wild, rushing toward the stage.

Shivering Angels was a strip club that catered to both females and males.

"Cut the crap, Lidia," I growled, "and replace me a quiet place to have a drink."

"Money first," she replied, licking her lips. "I will advise my boss of your arrival."

Greyson and I walked to the bar, and he went and placed our orders.

Most of the card rooms and scattered tables on the first floor were already occupied.

The VIP rooms on the second floor would most likely be full of businessmen getting a cheap f*ck. Whereas the special rooms on the third floor were usually occupied by people like me doing actual business. Lidia passed us and gestured to me to follow her.

As we climbed the stairs to the third floor, two people hurried past us and ran up the stairs.

Everyone's eyes moved toward the two people.

"Erika?" I gasped, angry, just breathing the same air as she was.

My facial expression turned cold as I stared at her. Erika looked surprised to see me, turned her gaze down the passage she had just come from, and turned on her heels to run, but was stopped by the owner of the club. A cold feeling ran down my back, and Ray growled, scratching to be left alone.

I turned to look in the direction they had just come from and spotted the camera in the man's hand.

I could feel the blood drain from my face, and before I gave it another thought, I rushed down the hallway, seeing Kate being pinned down under a man.

Kate struggled, trying to fight the man off, but he used his weight to keep her down.

I lost all control over Ray.

He took over, rushed into the room, and in less than three steps, picked up the man in one hand as if he were carrying a feather, threw him to the side, and taking my shirt off, threw it to Kate to cover herself. Kate was soaked in wine; her white blouse was stained with red liquid, and her underwear was showing through the white shirt.

"What dog dares to throw Louis?" The man yelled, "I will kill you! Rip your throat out and feed it to the pigs!"

The man came straight at me with a broken wine bottle he picked up from the floor, raising his hand to stab me.

Greyson grabbed the man's hand, and Ray threw him out the door.

The man landed in the bathroom. He got up and stormed toward me again, and with one blow, he was sent against the sink in the bathroom, breaking a mirror in the process.

Looking at the man on the floor, the owner of the club applauded me. "I would have thought he would have more fight in him," the owner said.

"Send him to the hospital," I ordered, and the club owner nodded.

He waved at some bouncers and gestured to them to have the area cleaned up.

I turned back to where Erika once stood, seeing that she had managed to replace a way to sneak out, but her accomplice wasn't that lucky.

"Sorry for the trouble," Kate whispered with a slur, and tears were making their way down her face.

Although I was angry at what she had done, I couldn't stay angry at her for long.

I picked her up in my arms and rushed out of the club.

When I was done attending to Kate, I followed Greyson to a small, secluded area in the club that the owner had provided for me.

I just needed a quick word with the cameraman that was with Erika earlier.

I looked at the man's scarred face, took the camera from him, and looked at the photos that had been taken.

"Did the woman you were with ask you to take these photos?" Greyson asked.

The man's gaze found mine, and he shivered out of fear.

"Tell the truth, and we will let you go," I said, taking a seat at the table. "If you don't..."

"I will tell you everything I know!" The man whispered nervously.

I guess he saw what I could do when I was pissed.

"She asked me to take it," the man said. "I don't know her very well. I met her in a bar about a week ago and slept with her after I had too much to drink. I mean, this girl has a perfect body and a very rich life. She paid me to take the photos." I shifted my head to the side and raised an eyebrow at him. When he saw that, he continued.

"She called me yesterday asking for a favor. All I have to do is take some photos, and she will pay me and f*ck me in bed. I was confused at what she wanted and agreed."

It sounded like the man told the truth, and that surprised me.

I didn't expect Erika to go so low.

I looked at Greyson, and he nodded, gesturing that he had found something important in the man's pockets.

When the man saw that Greyson had found the USB flash drive on him, he suddenly became anxious and lowered his head.

"You are free to go," Greyson said, and the man got up and rushed out the door.

Kate sat in the car with her knees under her chin; her face looked flustered and disappointed.

The car door suddenly opened, and Kate threw up in the street.

"Kate," I yelled, running toward her, "are you alright?"

"I'm fine," she answered, "it's just the alcohol screwing around my stomach."

"Do you want me to take you to the hospital?" I asked, worried.

Kate's face was red, and she was sticking out her tongue, licking her lips from time to time. Her eyes looked blurry, and she ignored my gaze.

"I'm fine," Kate said, struggling to stand up straight.

"Let's get you home."

I was worried about her. She didn't look well when we arrived home. I carried her inside, pushed the bathroom door open, set her down, and opened the bath taps to draw her a bath. I went out to get her a bath towel when I found out that she had locked the door from the inside.

I sighed, listening to Kate's movements inside.

After a while, she opened the door, and I handed her the towel. She wrapped it around her body and opened the door.

Her face was still red, but her eyes didn't look as blurry as before.

"Sorry," she said, "I thought it would make you happy if I could strike a deal on my own with the supplier. I didn't expect it to be a trap. I was careless. I'm sorry."

I was still a little bit angry, but when I saw her pathetic appearance and how truly sorry she was, I couldn't help but let it go.

"It's okay," I said. "Have a good night's rest; we can discuss it tomorrow."
