Katherine's POVXavier had made reservations at Carlo's, and I was happy to get out and unwind.

"Thank you for helping me," I said after we had ordered our food, "otherwise I would still be seen as a crazy woman sitting in a mental hospital."

I took a sip of the red wine Xavier ordered, and my face flustered, feeling the alcohol rush to my head."It was all you," he said. "I just helped with the process!"

"If it wasn't for you," I shook my head, "I would never have made it. You have saved my life more than once."

"And I will gladly do it over and over again!" He said this, taking a sip of his wine. "You do know that you are the most beautiful."

My phone rang in my handbag, and I bent down to retrieve it. I scrunched my eyebrows together when I recognized the number and put the call on mute.

"You were saying?" I asked, yet Xavier cut me off, gesturing to the phone.

"Answer the call; it might be urgent."

I didn't argue and did as I was told.

As soon as I heard Julia's broken voice, I knew something was wrong.

Although I have moved out of the King's residence, Julia has been there for many years, and she watched me grow up.

I felt a bit uncomfortable hearing Julia cry over the phone.

"Julia, what's wrong?" I asked, "Slow down; I can barely make up what you are saying"

Julia's voice on the other side of the phone was very low, and I could barely make out what she was saying due to all the crying. "Julia," I said, frustrated, "go to Alpha Xavier's pack; I will meet you there."

"What is happening?" Xavier asked worriedly as I got up from the table.

"It was Julia," I said, "the old Omega servant. She said something about Etika, but I couldn't make out much. It sounds like she is hurt."

"Then let's leave before something worse happens," Xavier said, taking my hand and leading the way out.

The drive back to Xavier's pack was a quiet one; we were both occupied by our own thoughts.

When we arrived at the border, the warriors advised Xavier of Julia's arrival and that she was with Greyson at the pack house.

The second Julia saw me coming through that door, she jumped up and ran to me.

"Kate!" She said, crying, "I am so sorry!" Julia was on her knees, crying her heart out.

I carefully helped Julia to her feet and steered her toward the couch. Xavier brought her some warm milk, hoping to calm her down.

"Take a deep breath," I told Julia, "and then tell me what happened tonight."

Julia swallowed hard and took a deep breath.

"Erika lost her temper again this afternoon," Julia said and sighed.

"What did she do?"

"She saw some pictures taken at the office, thanking you for the employee benefits."

"Black Umbrella and King Group officials signed contracts today."

Julia nodded in understanding and continued.

"She lost it. I have never seen her this out of control. The blue porcelain vase your mother so loved was thrown against the wall; it was broken all over the floor."

I remember the vase, but it was an item that didn't have any sentimental value to me.

"She kept on yelling-Kate must die!" Julia swallowed hard and wiped the tears from her eyes. "Kate! I will kill you! I will make your life a living hell until your death!" "Where were you when all this happened?" Xavier asked, taking a seat.

Julia sighed helplessly before she answered.

"I was standing outside the door. I waited for her to finish destroying the room. If I don't clean it before Beta John returns, he blames us for breaking the items, and if Rose sees it, we are told we are lazy." Xavier gave me a concerned look.

"Erika called me to the room, and I shivered at the door. I slowly walked in, not looking at her. Erika gave me a cold look and pointed to the debris all over the ground. Are you deaf? she asked me. This book has many missing chapters and scenes if you're not reading it on [J]obnib.c[o]m. I called you a while back; didn't you hear me? I need you to clean up this room! I didn't dare talk back. I bowed my head out of respect, and that made Erika even more angry."

Julia lifted her gaze and looked at me. New tears formed in her eyes before she broke down and started crying again.

"She took the crystal bottle and threw it at me. The bottle crashed into the wall behind me, and the splinters splashed the side of my face. I didn't dare to cry for help; I covered the wound, where blood was oozing out of the wound and dripping on the floor." Julia looked at me and said, "Do you know what she said to me?"

I shook my head.

Erika was cold-blooded; anything coming out of her mouth was poison.

"She looked at me without any pity and gave me a cold look, then told me to get out; I was ruining her precious Persian carpet!"

"That's Erika for you," I commented.

I turned Julia's face to the side and looked at the wound on her face, then turned to Xavier, and he nodded, and I waved Greyson closer to call the doctor.

Minutes later, the doctor arrived and cleaned and stitched the wound.

When the doctor was done treating the wound, we continued listening to Julia.

"What happened next?" Xavier urged.

"I went and cleaned the wound in the servant's room, and then I remembered what Rose said to John the day Kate's parents died."

I sat up straight, interested to know what Julia knew.

"What did she say?" I asked. My heart pounded in my chest, and my hands became sweaty.

"I'm sorry for your parents, and I'm even more sorry for you."

"Julia, what do you know? Tell me, please; I want to know the truth!"

Xavier glanced at her and gently pulled me aside.

"She's old," he said, and he looked over my shoulder, "and she looks very unstable now. Let her rest and talk to her tomorrow."

I wanted to know the truth. I have come so close, but I still don't know exactly what happened.

I sighed, nodded, and followed Xavier back.

"Julia, what happened with Erika?" Xavier asked, steering the conversation in a different direction. "Why did she kick you out?"

Julia must have understood Xavier's meaning when he asked that, and she answered.

"Erika lost her temper, and I am too old to stand her tantrums," she said, handing me a black-covered book.

"I don't know what this is, and I don't know what it says, but I think it will tell you what is going on."

I looked at Julia suspiciously. I have seen this little book once before. It was on John's desk in his study. Usually, he didn't let the Omegas clean his office.

How did Julia manage to get her hands on it?

I opened the book, saw that it was filled with numbers that I didn't understand, and saw that every page had a date written on it.

"Julia, how did you get hold of this?" I asked.

"You know, we were not allowed to go in there, and we were not allowed to clean in there either."

I nodded.

"Erika threw it out when she went into the master's office and lost her temper. I picked it up while cleaning."

"Julia, you said you knew about my parents' deaths. Can you please tell me what you know?"

Julia got to her feet and shivered.

"Your father found out about what John was doing. Your father confronted John about it. He said it was for a better cause and that the world would change for the better for the werewolf population. Your father begged him to stop. He told John that someone would stop him sooner rather than later."

"What did she say to John?"

Julia looked at me, her eyes turning dull and shivering at her spot. What she said next made the hate inside me grow even more.
