Chapter 37 Her heart skipped

Outside the Mayor's Mansion.

Elle came down from the car, she was wearing a black trouser and a black hoodie also. Her hair waspacked into a ponytail and and she also wore high boots to match with it, making her look a villain in amovie. She was putting on a face cap. And she also wore an airpod in her ear for easy access toDamien.

She pressed a button on the airpod.

"Dam, come out now. It's secured.." She mumbled looking around and then she brought a nose maskand then wore it. She also brought out glasses, she also wore them.

"I'm going in.." She mumbled and then she started to climb the fence. Then she jumped down causinga thud. That alerted the guards.

"Who's there?" A voice said and suddenly footsteps wrte heard.

Elle stood with a smirk, she was expecting them anyway.

"Hey, who are you?!" One of them asked and Elle laughed sinisterly.

"Come to momma.."

Damien also jumped down from the fence.

They all charged towards them and they began dealing with them, exchanging blows, kicks with themand soon they were on the ground lying unconscious. As they were about going, twenty of them rushedout again and one pointed a gun at Damien. Elle immediately brought out her gun and shot him in the

head. He fell to the ground dead. The others charged towards them again and another round of battlebegan.

After a while, they were on the ground too, unconscious, some dead.

"We have to hurry Dam, I'm sure Langford is trying to replace a way to escape.."

Damien nodded and as they opened the door to the mansion. They saw Langford and some otherguards standing behind him.

Langford was terribly shaking. Immediately one of the guards raised his gun to shoot Damien but thenElle stylishly pushed Damirn away and got shot in her arm.

"Aaargh!" She yelled and fell on her knees.

Damien rushed to her immediately and Langford and his guards used that cue to escape.

"Are you okay?" Damien asked Elle. She nodded and looked at the direction where Langford was andher eyes widened.

"He's gone.." She mumbled and with pain, she pushed off Damien.

"Where's he?!" She yelled in anger. She turned and found him and his guards walking towards his car.

She held her sounded arm which won't stop bringing out blood and ran to him. She raised her gun andcocked it, then she shot Langford in his leg.

Langford groaned and fell on his knees. His guards turned and tried shooting Elle but then Damien shotthree of them from behind while Elle shot four of them again.

The remaining two tried shooting but their guns were out of bullet. They charged towards Elle whododged every of their attacks and with a grunt, she punched both in their stomach and slammed both of

their heads together. They fell to the ground immediately.

Langford groaned and stood up. He opened the car's door and was about entering it when he heardher voice.

"Mayor Langford, I'll advise you not to act smart with us.." She said and Damien pointed the gun at hishead while Langford shivered in fear.

"What do you want? What have I ever done to you?"

"Please don't kill me. Let me go. I promise to give you all you want, my properties and all I have, butplease don't kill me. My wife and kids are in the states. They are waiting for me, please don't kill me.."He begged and Elle laughed.

"I'm not after your life, that is if you cooperate with us. All I want is you…" She smirked.

Langford smirked too.

"I called the police and I'm sure they will be here soon. You will be done for.." He said and Elleclenched her fists angrily.

"You bastard!" She cursed and then hit his head with the gun. He fell unconscious immediately.

"Dam, take him.." She ordered.

"Elle, are you okay? You are bleeding!" He exclaimed and that was when Elle realised that she wasbleeding profusely.

"Don't worry, I'm fine.."

"Have you called Blade and his gang already?" She asked and Damien nodded.

"Good. Let's get out of here before the cops arrives .." She said and Dam nodded and then carriedLangford out while Elle followed closely behind.

ELLE'S MANSION.

Elle and Damiem sat in the living room where Damien was trying to remove the bullet from her arm. Itwas no big deal since they were trained on how to do so because of emergency.

Elke closed her eyes and folded her lips, she was sweating profusely.

"Ugh!" She groaned and Damien smiled.

"I extracted the bullet already, I'll just disinfect your wounds.." He said and looked at her in the eye.

"It might sting.." He said and Elle used the other hand to take her handkerchief. She nabbed her faceand neck with it.

"Do it. Do you really think of me as a child who gets scared of these things.." Elle said and scoffedagain and Damiem chuckled.

"You are so bad mouthed.." He told her and started disinfecting her wounds. She would close her eyesand release low grunts. Soon he was done, he took a plaster and then plastered the surface of thewound.

"I brought some pain relievers, take them and you would be fine.." He told her and she smiled.

"You better take some if you want to get better cause I know you.." He warned her and she smiledagain.

"You sound like a doctor..'

"You know I would have been one if.." He paused and she rolled her eyes.

"You are such a fool, I can't believe you gave up your career because of that.." She snapped at himand took her handkerchief again to nab her face.

Damien sighed and then took then handkerchief from her. He then moved his head closer to hers.

"You are the fool here, I left it because of you, because I wanted to help you.." He said and then therewere some minutes of silence between them. Damien's eyes went to her lips and he started bringinghis head more closer to hers.

Elle's eyes widened and something unexpected happened, her heart skipped and then it began to race.
