Hailey's

POV

I ran away and after running, I realized that I have no place to go.

It is not like I would die on the streets now- because I have my own house. But I don't wanna go there; he would replace me there.

I went to several places, like the Church- they say that we get all the answers there. I prayed for a while, and they are correct. I saw Alex there.

I ran to him and he was shocked as he saw me.

"Hailey?" he asked and I nodded my head.

"Ye-s Alex!" I hugged him and he hugged me back.

"Oh gosh, why are you here?"

"I-I... I ran away"

"Did he hurt you!?" He asked, getting away from me.

"N-No, but..." I trailed off. "I-I don't know. He... he changed again. We were happy and suddenly he.... He again started behaving as he used to do before" I cried my heart out.

"What? What the hell. You will not return now, okay? Come to my place"

"Your place?"

"Yes. After everything, I found a secret base to work. Come with me" he insisted and I agreed. I neither have any other option nor do I want to get away from Alex. He was the only family I had. "Where is mom?" I questioned as we reached his secret base.

"Ah.... she is still in the hospital"

"Which hospital?"

"I don't know" he lowered his head.

"What? Then how do you know?"

His lips were closed in a thin line and he sighed. "Robert told me. As he used to tell you"

"Okay," I sighed.

I don't know where is mom.

And the only one who could tell me- I ran away from him.

And now I know, even if I return, he will be so mad at me.

He will be angry- so much that I don't think I can ever calm him down again.

But it was like, everything I did till now, went in vain.

How can I let that happen?

I lost it and ran away. Wow. Way to go, Hailey.

I sat down on the couch- the only one- in his 'secret base'.

"How do you work? What do you do now?" I asked, wanting to start a conversation.

"I...I am still in business and I rarely stay here. I have to usually go to London, now and then. You know, my business is newborn- I don't have many employees and many people to go and crack the deals for me" he replied and sat down beside me. "Are you okay?" He looked at me with concern.

"Of course I am!" I replied.

"Doesn't look like. Your mood is off- even when you ran away from the biggest trouble you ever had"

"No, I made everything worse" I cried. "I-I won't ever know where my mom is... and even if I meet him- because he can only tell me where mom is- he will be very angry with me. He will punish me. I have ruined my life. I have ruined OUR life!!" "NO!" he suddenly looked tense. "You haven't! You had to save yourself from that monster. And anyway, we will replace our mom!"

"I hope it is true..."

Suddenly the alarm of the room went off and the tension lines on Alex's face were evident.

"Hide" he instructed as I went behind the curtain, the one which was long enough, and held my breath.

The door was forced open, I could hear the sounds. And the next sound froze me.

"Hailey... sorry" I heard Robert's broken voice, in front of my curtain. "I know you're here. I know you are hiding behind this, but... I won't force you out. I want you to come out willingly and come back to me- so that everything can be... like before" Huh?

Really?

"L-Like before?" I questioned.

"Yes. Like.... When we were happy. I-I can explain the reason for what I did today. P-Please give me a chance"

I was shocked by the way he was dealing with this situation. He isn't mad?

He is apologizing?

He has changed... again?

"You... sure?"

"Yes," he replied with determination. "Please"

"Okay" I gave in and as I came out, he pulled me in a hug.

"Thank you, Hailey! I thought I would lose you today"

I was shocked- way too much shocked. He was really happy to see me and he wasn't angry. Guess, I don't know him well even after living with him for over a year. "Let's go" he got away.

"Y-Yeah" I looked at Alex, who was looking... confused.

"You want this?" Finally, Alex spoke up.

"I... guess"

He looked quite disappointed by my reply and he turned towards Robert.

"I will really.... Never hurt her again" Robert assured Alex.

"I hope not" Alex looked towards me again. "I will miss you"

"You can come to meet her anytime" Robert surprised me. "Just... give me- no, give her a call. She has a phone now. So, exchange your numbers and keep in contact"

"Are you sure?" I asked because he was the one who said that I should not make any contact with the phone he gave me.

"Yes. Do it now" he exclaimed and with happiness, Alex gave his phone to me.

I inserted my number in his phone. But I saw a contact.

"You have a girlfriend?" I asked, my eyes still fixed on the phone.

"Uh... yeah"

"What's her name?"

"That's not relevant"

"It is" I looked at him.

"Um... no, it isn't"

"Oh okay," I gave his phone back.

"A piece of advice - change her name from 'my baby' to some boy's name before mom makes it home. You are gonna get a good beating" I winked and he rolled his eyes. Smiling, I left the place with Robert.

"You forgave me?" Robert asked while driving.

"Yes," I replied, my eyes fixed on the road ahead of me.

"You are... unbelievable. You are so good, sometimes I think I don't deserve you"

I looked at him and a smile played on my lips. He was not just 'not angry' with me, but was also asking for my forgiveness. I know, it is common for anyone, but he is different. He rarely apologizes, and he not only accepted that he was wrong but apologized too. "If you don't deserve me, then no one does"
