Chapter 236 My Bottom Line

“No!” Lysanne anxiously grabbed Daphne’s arm. “Because of Grandma Elisa’s death and the child Dr. Thorne lost, he practically hates me now. The only reason he hasn’t done anything is because of my parents. Ms. Everhart, please don’t call him!”

Daphne shook off her hand, feeling disgusted by her touch. “Then stop bothering Lysander. Remember, you reap

t you sow! Lysander isn’t some kind of saint who has to fix your nightmares. Go cool off somewhere else! Lysandar, Priscilla, let’s go.”

Lysanne suddenly froze.

“Priscilla? Are you Harry’s wife, Priscilla Ziegler?”

Priscilla looked drastically different from her wedding day. She was practically skin and bones with at protruding belly. Lysanne hadn’t recognized her at first.

Lysander frowned and shielded Priscilla. “I have nothing to say to you, nor do I want to hear from you. Just leave.”

Lysanne noticed the luxury shopping bags in Daphne’s hands. “Are you shopping? Who are they for? Priscilla?”

Daphne immediately became wary. “They’re for me. Why?”

“Oh, I just saw you carrying so many bags and thought maybe all three of you bought something.”

“I have money. I can buy whatever I want. Is that a problem?”

“No, of course not. I just didn’t expect you and Dr. Thorne to be so close to Priscilla, taking her shopping. The last time I heard from Harry, he said Priscilla was resting back in her hometown. I’m surprised to see her here.

Daphne’s heart sank.

Lysanne knew Harry, and if the cunning man found out, things might get complicated.

By then, things might not necessarily proceed smoothly.

Lysander said, “Priscilla is worried about her baby. She came for a check–up and to see her father. She’ll go back soon.”

“Oh, I see. But pregnant women shouldn’t move around too much. Priscilla looks so thin, so she should be careful.”

Daphne retorted angrily, “With Lysander here, what’s there to worry about? Mind your own business. By the way, I heard you got engaged to Josiah. Congratulations, but please don’t invite me to the wedding. I don’t need that bad luck.”

Lysander nudged her. “Daphne, let’s go.”

Daph shot Lysanne a warning look. “Stop following us and leave.”

The elevator arrived again.

Josiah hurried out, looking visibly anxious. The moment he saw Lysanne, he frowned–deeply.

Lysanne shrank back, calling out softly, “Josiah

Josiah ignored her and looked at Lysander from a distance. “You guys may leave.”

Lysander didn’t waste time and quickly led Priscilla to another elevator, taking it down to the basement level and driving off.

As the elevator doors were closing, she could faintly hear Josiah’s angry roar, “Why are you bothering her again?”

Lysanne’s tearful pleas followed, “I really didn’t come here on purpose. It was just a coincidence, I swear…..

“Lysanne. I’ve given you enough chances. She’s my bottom line: If you touch her again, you know the consequentes!”

In the car, Daphne touched her nose and asked, “Did you hear what Josiah said?”

Lysander looked out the window. “No.”

Daphne chuckled but didn’t push it, focusing on driving.

Priscilla, however, squeezed Lysander’s hand. “Lysander, you’ve saved me twice now. If there’s anything I can do to help you, please let me know.”

Lysander smiled. “You just need to eat more to decrease the risk of the surgery. That would be help enough for me.”
