Chapter 359
Chapter 359 The Despicable Move
Lysanne was holding a bouquet of flowers, looking innocent and harmless. “Didn’t I tell you? My good friend Nina is about to have a baby, and I came to keep her company for a while. I just ran into Miles at the entrance, and he mentioned you were here getting your wounds tended to.”
Josiah frowned. “Your friend is in Stounia?”
“Yeah, she’s staying in the maternity ward.”
Josiah uttered coldly. “Then you should go quickly.
“Don’t worry, there’s no rush. Your injury… how did it suddenly get so severe? When you were back home, wasn’t it improving? Did you get it wet? The doctor said you couldn’t get it wet, so why did you-
“Enough!” Josiah interrupted her impatiently. “I don’t need you to meddle in my affairs. Just go attend to your best friend.”
“Oh, okay.” Lysanne was very obedient, even casually acknowledging Lysander’s presence as well. “Dr. Thorne, you’re here too.”
Lysander remained silent.
Lysanne said with a smile, “You guys continue chatting: I’ll head up first.”
Once she had left, Josiah immediately clarified, “I genuinely had no idea she would come to Stounia too.”
“Okay.”
“She said her friend is in the maternity ward. Did you see her there today?”
Lysander shook her head. “No.”
“That’s good.” Josiah let out a sigh of relief, quietly muttering under his breath, “You don’t need to worry about her. She won’t dare to do anything now.”
Lysander’s lips curved up slightly. “Indeed, it seems she’s changed alot.”
She stood up, ready to leave.
Seeing that, Josiah hurriedly questioned, “Where are you going?”
“I’m going to make a phone call.
To whom?”
“Are you trying to keep a leash on me?”
“I’m not trying to control you.” Josiah’s voice was filled with helplessness. “I’m just afraid you might leave again.”
Daphne.
“All right, go ahead. I’ll be done here soon, so just wait for me”
Chapter 359 The Despicable Move
Without uttering a word, Lysander simply walked out.
As soon as she stepped outside, she spotted Lysanne sneakily standing there, her ear pressed against the door.
Lysander bursting through the door abruptly startled Lysanne, who could only cover her mouth to stifle the scream that had almost escaped.
Seeing Lysander looking at her, she glared at the other woman.
Unfazed, Lysander let out a nonchalant chuckle. She took her cell phone and moved to a slightly secluded stairwell, dialing a number.
Daphne picked up quickly. “Who’s this?”
“Daphne, it’s me.”
“Lysander? You got a SIM card?”
“Um, you could say that.”
“My goodness, your throat still hasn’t fully recovered, has it? You still sound a bit hoarse.”
“I’ll get better with time. Being able to speak now is already a big improvement. A while back, I could only communicate by typing, which really had me on edge.”
Daphne also began to cheer up. “Then you should take good care of yourself during this period. There’s a traditional medicine apothecary nearby, so you should go buy some herbs to make herbal soup.”
“All right,” Lysander responded: “By the way, about Harry’s matter…”
She briefly explained the situation to Daphne, who remained silent for a long time.
At last, she managed to utter, “Impressive.”
“So, Harry’s disappearance probably has nothing to do with Josiah. You should reassure Mr. Everhart.”
“Lysander, tell me, do you think Harry is still alive?”
Lysander answered, “Josiah didn’t really do anything to him. Could he possibly have other enemies? Oh, you mentioned how he toyed with the feelings of the Stone family’s young lady before. Could it be possible that they decided to take him out?”
“What I’m trying to say is not that… I mean… Two hundred women? Won’t he die from doing it too much?”
Upon hearing this, Lysander also felt somewhat uneasy.
“Lysander, you’re a doctor. Based on your expertise, do you think he could have died from this?”
Lysander was rendered speechless. “My dear, I’m an obstetrician, not an andrologist”
“Just make a guess.
This is out of my abilitics
Chapter 359 The Despicable Move
“Wow, Josiah really is something else, pulling off such a despicable tactic… Truly a rare breed.”
