"Quite the temper you have. Risking your life for a million dollars?" He pulled out a credit card and tossed it in front of her. "Here's the money. We're done. I owe you nothing." Eliza stayed silent.

"As for the land deal, I've already sent Faithe to handle it. The project is almost finalized, and your contribution was crucial.

"Focus on getting better in the hospital. I'll have Marian come by to take care of you.

"If you're so eager to end it all, don't do it in front of me. I'm not the one who's going to be heartbroken." His dark eyes softened, his expression turning complex. "Next time you're thinking about dying, think of your comatose mother and your crazy brother. You might replace peace, but what about them?"

Eliza remained quiet the entire time.

Casper watched her for a moment from the shadows, then left.

Struggling, she propped herself up and picked up the credit card he had left behind. She called Chelsea immediately.

Chelsea arrived in no time. Seeing Eliza wrapped up like a mummy, she almost cried out in shock.

"What happened to you?" Her fingers lightly brushed over the bandages on Eliza's arm. "Were you hit by a car?"

"Something like that." She briefly explained to Chelsea what had happened.

Chelsea's eyes instantly filled with tears.

"Does that bastard Casper even have a heart? You secured that deal for him, and he didn't even want to give you a million dollars."

"Casper just wants to use me. He never intended to keep his promises. At the time, I wasn't thinking about living or dying; I just wanted to make sure Welton International wouldn't get their hands on that land." It was her first impulsive act, and it nearly cost her life.

She handed the card to Chelsea. "This is the money Casper gave me. Use it to cover Robin's expenses and keep the rest for future needs."

Chelsea felt uncomfortable holding the card as if it were burning her hand.

"Is he still not divorcing you?" She couldn't understand why they stayed together without love. "Does Casper really not want to marry Nova?"

At least in Eliza's eyes, Casper didn't seem to have the same desire to be with Nova as he did with her.

Men are often too rational and consider family interests and development more than love and romance. "Probably, as of now, I'm still useful to him."

Through the few occasions Eliza attended social events with Casper, she realized what he saw as her 'merits.'

She was a beautiful young woman

with a good figure and could be his

trophy. She possessed some professional knowledge and connections in the industries Welton International had recently ventured into, which meant Casper could achieve more with less money.

He wouldn't divorce her. Not until he had drained her dry.

"That deadbeat."

"Let's not talk about him anymore, Chelsea. With the state I'm in, I'll probably be in the hospital for a month. Can you keep an eye on Robin for me? Once I'm better, see him. Honestly, I've been worried about him; it's been a while since I last saw him."

Eliza was really weak, getting breathless after just a short speech.

"Don't worry about Robin. The hospital is fully enclosed; it's not like you can see him whenever you want."

Chelsea meant to wait until Robin

showed some signs of improvement from the treatment before letting Eliza visit. Unexpectedly, the hospital started calling Eliza's phone for payment.

In the end, Chelsea took the card and left.

Later, when Chelsea went to make the payment, she found not one million but two million on the card. She mentioned this to Eliza, who simply told her to keep the money.
