Renee only asked Eliza to design the dress out of pity, to give her a chance to earn a bit of pocket money. But this simple little dress was something Eliza could only dream of owning. Daniel's love for Renee was absolute. Eliza was insanely jealous to the core, but she knew she'd never have someone like that in her life.

So, she embellished Renee's dress with sparkling rhinestones, hoping Renee's life would always shine brightly. In a way, it made Eliza's shadowed life sparkle too.

"Sir, ma'am, dinner is served," the butler announced.

Eliza, with little appetite, got up from the sofa. "I'm not hungry."

"Still upset about today?" he grabbed her wrist. "Is it just about the painting? Or because it was a gift from David?"

"Casper, you buy your mistress paintings to win her over, and I don't make a fuss. But please, don't blame your actions on me."

She shrugged him off and headed upstairs. It wasn't just anger; it was the constant frustration and unfairness. He and Nova were getting engaged, and had she said anything? He was the epitome of a hypocrite.

Casper barely touched his dinner before heading upstairs to shower. Eliza went to bed early.

After Casper got into bed, his phone buzzed. He glanced at Eliza and answered.

"Hello?"

"Casper, Faithe delivered the painting, and I absolutely love it. I didn't expect you to buy it for me. I'm so touched, thank you."

Maybe it was Nova's shrill, excited voice or the volume of the loudspeaker, but Eliza felt a pang in her heart.

"I'm glad you like it," his tone was gentle, totally different from the arrogance and harshness he had with her, "You're still recovering; get some rest."

"Casper, can you come over? This house feels so big, and I'm a bit scared." Suddenly, a noise in the background made Nova scream. "Casper, hurry, I think there's a burglar." "Call the police. I'll be right there."

Eliza had to laugh. Nova's antics always spun around Casper, and he never seemed to tire of it.

Soon, Casper was dressed and ready to go. She watched him emotionlessly, not saying a word.

He suddenly caressed her head gently. "Go to sleep. I need to step out for a bit." Right. Was this his attempt at placating her? It was utterly unnecessary.

That weekend, Eliza went to the swimming pool alone. With a leap, she dived in.

After a few laps, someone called out to her. "Eliza.”

Wiping the water from her face, she looked over. "David? What a coincidence."

"Yeah." He swam up to her, "Are you here by yourself?"

"Mm."

As they chatted, Casper entered the venue with the pool's owner, spotting Eliza and David immediately.

"Mr. Casper, the pool's doing quite well. If you're interested in investing, we should talk more." The owner was enthusiastic, but Casper's gaze was glued to Eliza, her figure partially submerged in the water.

David was talking to her, possibly giving her some tips, his hand occasionally resting on her waist or helping adjust her leg. Eliza's

laughter added an undeniable ne

warmth and intimacy to thein

interaction.

Casper clenched his fists tightly.

"Mr. Willis, clear the pool."
