His Destructive, Toxic Love -
Chapter 288
Casper took a while to calm down.
Dillon felt a pang of sympathy for his boss and gently advised, "Mr. Casper, maybe you shouldn't force things. I don't think she's the type to hold back, and if you really get hurt, it won't be easy to heal." Casper was feverish, irritable beyond words. With a swift kick, he sent the trash can next to the bed tumbling over.
"Next time, I'll tie her up completely. Then we'll see how tough she really is."
Dillon's mouth twitched involuntarily.
"Look at her, laughing and flirting with everyone else, but when she sees me, it's like she wants to tear me apart. Do you think she's been charmed by that pretty boy, and completely forgotten who she is?" "Pretty boy?" Dillon scratched his head, pondering. Was Casper talking about that young man, Mr. Noel?
"Mr. Casper, do you mean Mr. Noel?"
"Who else could I be talking about?" Casper scoffed.
"Mr. Casper, no matter what, it's unlikely for her to fall for some innocent young boy." Dillon chuckled awkwardly, trying to lighten the mood. "You should have some confidence in yourself. She... she probably knows her limits."
Casper had neither confidence in
himself nor belief that Eliza would have any limits. To her, he was like rotting flesh, and her willingness to even glance at him was only
because he had saved her sale!

Legally, there was nothing binding her to him. For her to cuckold him would take no effort at all. He was well aware.
A chasm as deep as the abyss lay between them, engulfing any hope of them crossing over. What did it matter if they lived under the same roof? Or shared the same bed? Even if he indulged her, pampered her, and swallowed his pride, what would it change? What was lost, once found again, could never be the same. It had already been eroded beyond recognition by the torrent of time.
Besides, his past with Eliza was far from beautiful.
No. Once, she had been beautiful, like the morning sun, warm and dazzling. It was he who had torn that beauty apart, plunging her into
endless pain and despair. He hawne?
even nearly driven her to death. Perhaps the connection between him and Eliza was doomed to be
vulnerable from the start.
"I really shouldn't have brought her back to Falconridge," Casper muttered, his voice low and tinged with regret.
"Mr. Casper, don't be too pessimistic. A person's heart doesn't cool in an instant, nor does it warm up all at once. Don't be in such a hurry. Women, you know, are often soft-hearted. Take it slow, and there might be a chance for things to turn around."
Casper gently massaged his furrowed brow, his lips curling into a bitter smile. If she loved him, she would naturally soften. But now, with no love left for him, where would that softness come from?
He shook his head, a wave of inexplicable sadness rising in his heart. Perhaps if they no longer intersected in each other's lives, she would gradually forget that hatred and reconcile with herself.
With that thought, he suddenly felt a sense of release. What did it matter if he couldn't let go? What was the point of trying to make amends? It was all futile. She merely saw it as a one-sided joke. Those so-called amends were nothing but superfluous gestures. Casper's once again had a poker face, his dark eyes like hidden stars in the night sky, twinkling with a somber light. He stood up and walked out of the lounge without hesitation.
Eliza, who had been standing outside hesitant to approach, moved her lips as if she wanted to say something. "You..."
