His Ex-wife’s Comeback ( Nancy and Liam ) -
Chapter 2
Chapter 2 Return
Nancy composed herself and then turned on the laptop, swiftly typing on the keyboard. She hacked into the surveillance system and erased all traces of her presence. She left as discreetly as she had arrived. “Sir, the madam has left!” The following morning, Liam received the news as he returned to the mansion from the hospital. As soon as he pushed open the door, he caught a whiff of a refreshing and pleasant rose fragrance, which belonged to Nancy. After three years, he had grown accustomed to it. He rarely entered the master bedroom. Nancy had decorated the room, giving it a different color scheme from the other rooms. It emanated a serene and warm atmosphere with its pale yellow bed sheets. However, he didn’t pause or show any interest in admiring it. Instead, he walked straight to the bedside. On the divorce agreement, the woman had already signed her name. The check for ten million, which he had personally signed, remained untouched. A delicate, transparent rose seal was placed on the bedside table, with his name engraved on the bottom. The white rose carved on the side looked vivid and lifelike, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship. He couldn’t resist; he couldn’t help but caress it. The jade was of excellent quality; it was clear and translucent. When he held it in his palm, he felt its coolness. What was rare was that there were red patterns seeping into the bottom, giving the impression of a blooming red rose inside when exposed to sunlight. It was both magical and beautiful. He knew she liked roses. There was a patch of roses planted in the courtyard, but he had never given her a bouquet. Underneath the seal was a card, which he picked up and opened. “Happy third anniversary! Liam, goodbye.” Liam looked at those two lines and raised his eyebrow. His gaze shifted to the calendar on the bedside table; it seemed like this was the day they registered their marriage. In the blink of an eye, three years had passed. He held the valuable jade in his hand and wondered how she managed to afford it. He usually gave her a large amount of money for her monthly expenses, but the money in the account was rarely used. According to her, she didn’t need to worry about food or clothing at home, and there was no need to spend money on anything. There were no significant expenses in the account either. Listening to his assistant’s report, Liam said in a deep voice, “Find out where she went. Pay attention to her recent activities. If it’s truly an enemy’s infiltration, make sure to bring her back to me.” Was she truly an orphan with no parents or relatives? Three days later, in the southern city. The headquarters of the Smith Group were located in the CBD Building. It was in chaos today. The company employees hurriedly ran inside, while the executives gathered in the lobby on the first floor, waiting for the arrival of their new CEO. Just two days ago, the Smith Group, which had experienced a sharp decline in stock prices and was on the verge of bankruptcy, suddenly came back to life. It was acquired at a high price by a mysterious tycoon. While the employees were relieved to keep their jobs, they found themselves under a different kind of stress. “Who is the new CEO? Is it a man or a woman? What’s their background? Haven’t we heard any news about it?” “Not only us, even the management team doesn’t know the identity of the new CEO. That’s why our new CEO is so mysterious. I hope it’s a handsome guy, a domineering CEO who can save us!” “Stop dreaming. What if it’s a female boss?” “Don’t be ridiculous. That’s impossible. You might as well hope for the resurrection of the Smith family’s daughter.” “They’re here! Stop talking!” All eyes were fixed on the entrance, creating a tense atmosphere. A sleek black Rolls-Royce pulled up and parked, causing everyone to hold their breath. The vice president personally approached the car to open the door, revealing a woman stepping out. She had impeccably cropped hair, and she was dressed in an elegant white suit. Her flawless makeup accentuated her beautiful face. The company executives, who had devoted nearly a decade to the Smith Group, looked at this familiar face in astonishment and exclaimed, “Miss… Ms. Smith…” Nancy stood outside the entrance of the Smith Group. She smiled and said, “Hey, it’s been a while since we last met.”
