His Forbidden Mate -
Part 31
“Are you Prince Edward’s mate?” Rue asked as she passed me the pepper sauce for the roasted beef I stopped to buy on my way home.
I collected the bottle from her hand, but I made no move to add it to the beef before me. “What makes you say that?”
She shrugged. “He has visited a few times in the last three months, and I saw him at the parlour when I came to visit.”
My eyes dropped to the beef, and I sprayed the pepper on it, avoiding her gaze. “The prince is my partner at the parlour. We work together just like you do with Alex and Liam at the library.”
“I don’t stare at them the way you do him.”
“How do I stare at him?” My brow raised. Perhaps I was giving out clues I shouldn’t and now she had picked them up.
“Like you admire him and want him to k**s you,” she answered, showing no hesitation.
Well, that is no longer a secret then. Trust Rue to put it all together.
“I admire him. He’s smart and noble despite being the prince of the kingdom, but I do not want him that way.” I lied, and she knew I did. Damn.
I sigh and shrugged, “He’s a prince, Rue, and I’m an omega. It doesn’t matter what you think you saw, it will never happen in this world or the next.”
“Because you’re an omega or because you don’t have feelings for him?”
Because there was more to the story. A prince would need a partner or mate from a noble background. I was an omega with a question lifestyle. It didn’t matter if the prince came to the parlour or was seen there or even getting intimate with a whore; it wasn’t a big deal, but he would never take one seriously. I knew what I got myself into when I let him get intimate with me after we ruled out intimacy as a criterion for our partnership. He had this thing about him that made him irresistible and I couldn’t tell what it was. After the day he bent me over the table in his office, I knew I would never have the chance to say no. He had ruined me for any other man.
I knew where I stood in all of this, so it didn’t matter if I admire or even had a feeling more than mere attraction. The best thing to do was enjoy whatever it was we had for as long as I could, because it won’t last forever.
“Both.” I slam the bottle down on the table after realizing I’d added too much spice to the beef. This is all Rue’s fault for her unending question. I threw my hands up and placed them on my waist, staring at the disaster I had made.
…
“You don’t look too happy to be here with me,” Edward spoke up, after kissing my lips and getting no response.
“Rue believes something is going on with us,” I answered, stepping further into the room.
“Something is going on between us,” he stressed out, not replaceing the issue in what I just said.
I glanced at him. “I don’t want her thinking that way.”
“I don’t think there’s really much you can do in that area. She’s not a child. She sees things and would decide how to read them. That’s part of what being an adult means.”
“Then I’ll limit what she sees.”
This got him curious. “What do you mean?”
“I’ll need to limit the number of times you can visit my home.”
He chuckled, “I barely visit you, mistress.”
“This is serious, my prince!” I snapped, not appreciating him replaceing humour in it.
He raised his hands in surrender and backed away. “What do you suggest? That we end this?”
The thought of not having at least a weekly dose of him seemed like a nightmare and I couldn’t imagine what it’ll be like for real.
“She’s seen us together, and she’s picking up the signs. She believes we are together and asked too many questions, even when I told her we weren’t or couldn’t. The more she sees us, the more she’ll suspect something is going on. I do not want her to replace out anything that would mess with her head. Her wedding is a few days away now.” She pressed her thumb against her bottom lips, “If you can keep a little distance from me until then.”
He smiled, “So we are not stopping?”
“No, because I’m not done with you yet.”
“I like the sound of that.” he closed the space between us and took my lips in his. He gathered me into his hands with ease, and he carried me into his room, which was warm and welcoming every time.
After the first two rounds of torture-filled pleasure, Edward release my hands and cradled me against his body. This way, I was on top of him and my head rested against his chest to hear his steady heartbeat.
He stroked my head, still on his chest and with slow ease; he slipped his hard c**k into me. We moved against each other at a slow pace at first, then moved into a faster one. I placed my hands on his chest as I worked on his length, riding and grinding my h**s against him.
He pulled up and took my lips between his for a brief k**s before I broke it and shoved him into bed to ride him harder.
“F**k!” his eyes fluttered briefly before they opened up again. “Would it be so bad for Rue to see us together?”
“Did you not hear the explanation I gave earlier?” my brow rose, still surprised that he brought it up at this moment when I thought we already reached an agreement.
“I did, and I thought about it too, which is why I’m asking.”
When did he think about it? Was it when he had me on my hands and knees earlier or when he had my hands tied to the bedpost?
I nodded, my eyes shutting briefly. “Yes, it would be.”
“Why?”
My lash fluttered to stare at him with a narrowed gaze. “Why?” I repeated.
I was now certain he didn’t hear the lengthy explanation I gave before we came to bed, despite saying he did. What happened to just being happy with each other like we agreed weeks ago? That was what we wanted, right?
“Yes.”
“That’s not even a question.”
“It is, and I’m asking you why? You told me about having to deny. I’m not asking you to deny anything.”
“There’s nothing to deny. We aren’t together.”
“Anyone who stepped into this room now and sees us would beg to differ.”
“This is the only thing we have in common, and s*x doesn’t mean we are together.”
“The king and queen had little in common, but they made it work.”
I couldn’t believe he just compared me to the Queen and it might have been complimentary, but I did not see it that way.
I tried getting off, but he held my waist and kept me on him. “I am not the queen, and you’re not the alpha king.”
“I never said I was.”
“Just because their differences worked doesn’t mean ours would.” I hated fighting with him when I should enjoy his c**k buried so deep in me. “Your brother was alpha king, and the Queen was born into a noble home. They had the advantage. You’re the prince and I’m an omega that went rogue, who’s also tagged a whore. We all know whores are good for f*****g and having a good time with, but not for anything serious, at least not with royalty. So let’s be happy with what we have for as long as we can.”
His c**k should be dead because everything I just vomited were things that were hard to swallow. The bitter truth, but he wasn’t turned off. He didn’t let me off.
He flipped up around so this way I was now under him. He watched me with eyes of interest, making me feel connected to him in more ways than physical while he drove into me.
“You’re right, you’re not the Queen and I’m not my brother, but I don’t want to be like the king just like you don’t want to be like the Queen.” He said and thrust in and out of me. “You’re also right. Royals always get a noble mate, one that can stand by the king in times of trouble. I understand how it works. However, I am not the king.”
He sank his full length into me and my lashes fluttered as pleasure wrought through me like fire.
Listening to him while being pleasured had to be a skill on its own, but he gave me no other choice.
“I can also choose whoever I want.”
My lashes flutter to see him. “I doubt that.”
He pulled out, only to slam back into me with force. “I don’t think you know how royalty works better than me.”
Fine, he could choose whoever he wanted, but that didn’t mean he’d want to choose me. I had a tainted reputation and his reputation was spotless.
“What are you trying to say, then?”
“Well, for one, we can be more than this… Just mindless f*****g. Yes, I want to f**k you all day, every day, but I also want to sit and talk with you privately and also among people.”
“What if I want only this? The mindless f*****g?”
“That’s also a probability, but human nature is prompt to want more in every situation.”
Damn him and being so smart.
“Wanting more would ruin things,” I admitted.
His hand came to stroke my face, smiling fondly, “We already want more than it is or Rue wouldn’t have noticed the change.”
“What are you saying?”
“I’m saying I like you, Kailani Zaine, and I know you like me, too.”
He had proposed ‘more’ before and he was doing it again and, just like the first time, I was afraid of what ‘more’ would bring.
“People would want to know more when they see me with you. We’d risk not only my image being smeared with the truth, but your reputation would also be dragged down with me as well.”
He smiled, and I g*****d, “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing. It’s nice to know you care about me and my reputation, despite all.”
I scrunched my nose up at him. “Someone has to. You’re reckless and don’t seem to care.”
He leaned in and kissed my lips and picked up the pace, thrusting into me faster and deeper. I clung to him as if my very life depended on him, not wanting to let go until he released deep inside me.
My eyes fluttered to lock on his. His beautiful eyes. My hand lifted to move the locks of hair on his face away and to tuck behind his ear.
I pulled his head down against mine. “Every time is better than the last.”
“This doesn’t have to end.”
He was still proposing more to me, even though I presented good enough reason not to want more.
He was as stubborn as they came, and I loved that about him.
