His Lethal Love
Chapter 73

Third Person POV.

Once Camille left Scott's place, she walked laboriously into the public park and sat on a bench. Her thoughts drifted to her daughter who was fighting for her life in a hospital bed. She didn't believe Scott could be as cruel to her daughter. The situation was different than she expected, as she thought he would take immediate action and be ready for a bone marrow transplantation. Instead, he shamelessly demanded sexual favors in an attempt to protect his daughter. She could not believe he could be such a vicious soul. Her mind wondered how she could love someone who didn't even think about his own blood.

"Why are you doing this, Scott?" Camille whispered to herself and broke into tears again. She had been crying for hours. Her eyes were red and her face revealed lines of anxiety. She remembered the death of her brother. Four years ago, Camille had agreed to work for him, but in the end, she had paid with the death of her brother. Rather than saving his life, Scott Martinez left her brother to die in a hospital bed. He killed Clarence because she killed his rapist brother, Samuel. "I thought you loved her." Camille looked at Colette's picture on her phone and caressed it gently. "Please save her. She is the only one who has kept me alive so far. She gave me another life. She gave birth to Cara Davidson but it feels like I am losing her too. I'm losing myself."

A four-year-old girl playing with her parents brought even more tears to Camille's eyes. She was reminded of Colette. Her heart sank when she heard her laugh. Could she not see Colette playing and laughing? Would she ever be able to speak to her? Would she ever be able to see her grow up?

"Oh my God." Camille covered her mouth with her hand, stopping herself from going further and further. The more she thought about the future, the more panic she experienced. There was only one thing she wanted to think about: her daughter. Her daughter was her lifeline, and her life was at stake. She had two options. She could let her daughter die or let Scott have what he wanted. It would be obvious that she would choose the first option without accepting the second. Does she have any other option to save her daughter? It was hard for Camille to think because her brain wasn't working. In frustration, she grabbed her head and let out a scream. In life's most fragile stages, you know how strong you are, but she wasn't that much stronger. How could she be strong when her strength is dying?

When her phone suddenly buzzed, she was startled. It was Conan who was trying to contact her. After clearing her throat, she asked, "How is Colette doing?"

"Cami, where the hell are you? Since this morning, you've vanished like a shot. It has been hours since I last heard from you." Conan exhaled heavily. His voice was restless. "Colette has woken up. She asked about you. She seemed a bit disappointed when you were not there."

"Conan..." Her voice cracked as she spoke.

The moment Conan sensed something was wrong, he asked, "Is Scott coming right?"

She shook her head, swallowing hard. "He's not coming."

"You're kidding me?" he exclaimed.

"He's not coming."

"What but why?"

"He... he..." Her words trailed off weakly. "He put a condition."

"What is the condition?" Conan asked straight away.

"He..." She bit into her lower lip, hesitating to tell him. Conan was the man she was supposed to marry yesterday but in a second their lives were turned upside down. "He wants to sleep with me." She could hear Conan's sharp intake of breath. They both fell quiet as Camille listened to Conan's breathing. He didn't speak as time passed. She knew it was hurting him. It was hurting him badly. He had been waiting for the moment to make her his but everything fell apart. Everything came to an end. She was helpless and so was he. She couldn't imagine her life without Conan. Furthermore, he never imagined that this would happen. "Say something, Conan," Camille whispered with a heavy heart. "Camille..." He said almost sadly and gloomily. "Accept his offer."

"Conan..." Before she could finish herself he hung up.

"Have you found a compatible donor, Doc?" Scott asked on the phone while looking at the night view of the city from his window.

"Yes, sir. Everything is ready, we're just waiting for your order to proceed," the doctor said from the other line.

"Good." Scott glanced at his watch. It was eight in the evening. "How is she?" His voice almost broke while talking about his dying daughter.

"She is doing better than before," he said and Scott breathed a sigh of relief. "So can we start surgery?"

"Yeah." Scott nodded while glancing at his watch again. He seemed like he was waiting for somebody else. "I just can't risk her life."

"Who is she by the way?"

Scott hesitated before answering, "She is my daughter, Doc. Be careful while performing her surgery. If anything happens to her I'll make sure to ruin your career. I hope you understand my words, Doc." Before the doctor could say anything else he hung up and threw the phone on the bed. He ran his fingers through his hair in irritation. He clenched his fists, trying to calm his uneasy nerves. His muscles stiffened and his fingers were fidgeting due to the agony he had felt for an hour. Why did not he realize before that his daughter was ill?

The door creaked open and Amos stepped inside. "Sir, here is your coffee."

"You don't need to do this, Amos," Scott said gently while turning to him. "You should not have come here."

"I was just worried about you. I heard the news and..."

"It was just a misunderstanding." Scott shook his head, running his fingers through his hair. "Maura is fine. I was drunk and this accident happened..." Scott's voice died down as he grabbed a coffee mug with his shaky hand and brought it to his lips. "Thanks for the coffee."

"Why didn't you tell Miss Davidson the truth?" Amos asked which brought despair to Scott's face. "She will be glad to know that you are helping her daughter."

"I don't want her to feel glad." Scott turned around, his eyes fixed on the road again.

"Does she know about your health?"

Scott's jaw clenched harder as he gripped the coffee mug tightly in his hand. He hated sympathy and he didn't like to talk about his health issues with anybody else. "Does it matter? She means nothing to me. All I care about is my daughter." "But you care so much about her that's why you want to keep her." Amos laughed which pissed Scott off.

"I don't do you a favor free of cost, Amos," Scott said bitterly. "She has to pay the price with her body. This is what I offer in exchange for saving Colette's life."

"She thinks you're married to Maura ma'am." Amos frowned. Scott stayed silent at Amos's question. He didn't want to talk about his life with anyone, not even with his most loyal employee. He wanted to be alone. His mind wandered around his daughter. He wished he could check on her but he knew Camille would never like his presence there. She hated him so much that she couldn't stand his sight. Scott had given her every reason to hate him, anyway. He deserved her hits, her hatred, and her everything. He wanted to wipe every tear he brought into her eyes. Seeing her cry only made him even more devastated. At once he was determined to make everything right for her. At once he wanted to live for her, just for her and Colette.

Suddenly the ding of the elevator alarmed Scott and Amos. "Who's this?" Amos's brows snapped together in confusion but a smile pulled across Scott's lips because he knew who had come at that time. He put his mug on the nightstand and hurried out of his room. A full smile appeared on his lips when he saw Camille standing in the living room with a distressed face. Her head was hanging down, her eyes focused on the floor and her shoulders were hunched. She was devastated, extremely devastated. Seeing her like that Scott's heart ached.

Camille looked up to see Scott. His smile disappeared and was replaced by a grim expression. She flexed her jaw as she watched him with a seething look. Her eyes alone could explain how much she loathed that man. "Hey," Scott greeted her and walked up to her. He examined her face which looked almost lifeless. Her eyes were red, there were deep circles under her eyes, and her hair was distorted. Her look was completely messy. "I am ready to sleep with you," she said bluntly. "Now, can you come with me to the hospital?"

"No." Scott stuffed his hands into his pants pocket while approaching her. His eyes couldn't leave her face. He missed her so damn much. He longed for her eyes, hair, and smell. He missed everything about her. Every moment he blamed himself for throwing her away from his life. He was a bastard treating her this way. He would never forgive himself for doing this to her.

"She needs immediate surgery," Camille growled with wide eyes. She was dazed by his cruelty.

"I need you first," Scott whispered, glancing at her lips. "After that, we'll start the procedure."

"Scott, how could you talk like that?" Camille gasped in disbelief. "She is dying in a hospital bed and all you care about is sex?"

"Yes," Scott replied flatly. "Now, come here."

Camille balled her hands into fists angrily, wanting nothing more than to hit him hard enough to bring him to his senses. He had completely lost his mind.

"I've gotta go." Amos rushed out of Scott's room, looking uncomfortable with their conversation. He quickly walked away, saying the last goodbye to his owner, leaving them alone.

"Come here..." Scott ordered Camille but it made her even more furious. When she didn't budge from her place he reached her and wrapped his muscular arm around her waist before pulling her into his chest. Camille tried to contain her sob but she couldn't when Scott unzipped her gown in one swift motion and let it slide down her body smoothly.
