Chapter 131
“A kiss?”
Just as I was about to open my mouth to say something. Siena let out a loud squeal as we both turnedour heads to look at her. “She’s getting jealous,” I spoke and stepped away from the uncomfortablesituation. “She woke up for nothing because she has nothing to be jealous about.” Christian chuckledand grabbed her out of her seat. “And I’ll be back for my kiss.” Christian smiled while I pretended to gag
“What, you don’t want to?” Christian laughed. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to, but I couldn’t.
“How is Beau?” He asked. “Grateful, but confused became it came from you,” I told him. “He wants meto thank you, but he also wants you to know that this won’t give you a pass because he’ll still punchyou.”
“Fine.” Christian shrugged. “A punch is alright. It’s Beau, so I expected him to kill me.”
“True.” I agreed. “But the only person worthy of the Beau treatment is Matteo. Other than that, he hasactually changed a lot.”
“I believe that.” Christian smiled. “Love can change people. Look at me, for example.”
I almost choked on my own spit at his bold comparison and looked him in the eyes. “I want to keep it anice day today, so I will keep my mouth shut.”
“That’s too bad,” Christian spoke. “Anyway, enough about us-our baby is suffocating!” I scolded him asI walked closer to remove Siena’s jacket.
“I’m sorry, Siena.” Christian smiled and held his hand against her forehead. “She’s even sweating. I feelguilty.” He laughed while Siena tried to get out of his grip.
“What?” Christian spoke offendedly. “Do you see that, Serena?” Christian asked. If his mission was tomake me laugh at his cuteness, he had definitely succeeded.
“She already has enough of us.” I pouted. “I don’t want her to grow up.” Christian spoke. He said thosewords often, but she couldn’t stay a baby forever.
“Maybe she wants to crawl?” Christian suggested and walked further as I almost ran behind him.“She’s barely five months old. What do you mean crawl?” I asked him, worried.
“So?” Christian shrugged. “When I was her age-
“Not everyone is some miracle baby like you, Christian,” I spoke. Christian gave me an offended lookand kissed Siena on her cheek. “You’re underestimating her. Siena is a strong baby.”
Christian put her down on the carpet and made her sit up straight as I immediately joined the two.“Don’t do that!”
“Don’t do that!” Christian mimicked me. He could be so childish at times-but that’s what I liked abouthim. I remember thinking he was boring and serious until Vince told me that he was actually thecomplete opposite.
Compared to Christian, I was the boring and serious one, and not leaving the house made me realize iteven more. I had absolutely done nothing these past few days. I didn’t even go shopping.
“Look, I told you she’s a strong baby,” Christian spoke and placed his hands a few inches from herback. At times I thought about the comments about Siena being a demon baby and how it actuallymight’ve been.
the truth. She was curious, progressed fast-and I was only scared of the future because I had no ideawhat she would be like.
Both Christian and I had many good traits but also a lot of bad traits. “I thought you didn’t want her togrow.” I rolled my eyes.
“I don’t.” Christian chuckled. “But she should at least be able to move on her own. She’s getting a bitheavy.”
“Or you’re just weak.” I teased him, but Christian was not impressed by my joke. “Weak?” He frowned.“Yes.” I laughed as Siena bounced up and down and joined me. “Do you see that?” Christian asked.
The best thing about Christian was how he got amazed by every little thing and asked me the samequestion over and over while I was right beside him. Even Siena’s vomit made him proud.
“This is nice, isn’t it?” I smiled at Christian. “Just the two of us with Siena, without any family drama.”
“It is.” Christian agreed. “I really miss this, and I hope we can do this more often.”
Siena let out a loud squeal. “She agrees.” Christian chuckled. “Isn’t it time for her to eat something? Our poor baby is literally eating her own finger, look?” Christian laughed at Siena. She loved theattention, and she was a little drama queen, just like her father.
“I just gave her a bottle. Why can’t she just eat like a normal baby.” I complained and handed her asnack. “Do you see her teeth coming through? It’ll only be a matter of time before I have to drive theboth of you to McDonald’s!” Christian spoke.
“I don’t want her to become like me. I want her to eat healthily.” I sighed. “If it’s up to me, she’ll nevereat a hamburger-
“Then I’ll let her eat one behind your back,” Christian spoke. “My mom never let me eat that kind ofcrap, but whenever I was out with my dad, things were different.” Christian smiled.
“It’s actually quite surprising because he was a different person back then.” He spoke. “He wasn’t thewarm. and loving dad he is now. He was cold and rough, but whenever he took us out to eat junkbehind my mom’s back, he was different.”
“I’m sorry for ranting about my dying dad.” Christian chuckled, embarrassed. I didn’t mind hearingabout. it. “Don’t. I love to hear these kinds of stories.” I told him.
“I actually think we don’t know each other at all, which is crazy because we have Siena.”
We knew a few things about each other’s past, but only the main things. There was never a time wherewe sat down and had a full deep conversation with each other. “How about I show you my childhoodpictures. after Siena takes a nap?” Christian suggested.
“Yes, I would actually like that.” I smiled. “I should’ve brought mine. You would’ve loved to see me inoveralls and pigtails.” I laughed as I remembered how all the girls I used to live with had the exactsame outfit and clothes, but we did it by choice.
“Deal,” Christian spoke. We played around with Siena for a while longer until it was time for her to takea nap, and just as promised, Christian came down and joined me on the couch with several photoalbums in
his hand.
“Here we go.” He smiled as he opened the first one. “These things are full of dust. Don’t you ever lookat your own pictures?” I laughed as Christian gave me an embarrassed shrug. “Why would I?”
“Oh my god, look at you!” I cooed as I went through the pictures. “This was the day I was born. Enzoand Gio were so happy to meet me.” Christian chuckled and pointed at the picture of a tiny Enzo andGio holding his hand.
“It’s funny to see Gio as a toddler. For some reason, he always gives me the feeling like he came out ofthe womb as an adult.” I laughed while Christian joined me. “I agree. It’s funny.”
I looked through more pictures and pointed out Lucio, who hadn’t changed a thing. “I want to tell yousomething, but don’t laugh at me,” I told Christian and buried my head in my hands. “What is it?”Christian chuckled.
“Please don’t laugh at me.” I repeated as Christian nodded his head. “I won’t, just tell me.”
1 took a deep breath and prepared for a disaster as I wondered why I would even embarrass myselflike this. “When I first met Lucio, I had a crush on him,” I confessed.
Christian remained silent and patiently waited for me to tell him that I was joking, but when he realizedit was not a joke, he burst out laughing and held his stomach for support. “M-my, dad?” He cackled.“You told me you wouldn’t laugh!” I told him as I smacked his shoulder.
“I’m sorry, I expected something a little less…funny?”
We took a look at more pictures and even spotted Emmanuella. She was with the family for a very longtime and in many of the pictures. “Your grandpa even scares me here.” I chuckled.
We reached a few pictures of Vince and Isobel, which made me laugh out loud. “I need to get the back.story on this one.” I pouted. “That’s funny,” Christian smiled. “Vince and Isobel were getting married, and
(was the best man.”
“My God, she’s just out here getting with everyone, isn’t she?” I gasped, from marrying Vince tosleeping. around with Christian to having a baby with my twin brother.
“And is this your uncle?” I pointed at the picture of a man and a woman. Christian took out the pictureto read the names on the back and nodded his head. “Yes, Johnny and Luca’s dad.”
“That was him with his ex-wife. She was his first wife, and I don’t really know why I have this picture, but I have a lot of them.” Christian chuckled. “Johnny gave it to me. I think I took it because I miss himso much. I don’t ever want to forget him.”
“And who’s Donovan?” I wondered. “I suppose that’s the baby in the corner?”
“What, baby?” Christian asked. I pointed my finger at the baby seat in the corner of the picture while.Christian’s eyes grew big. He flipped through the pages like a mad man while I was wondering whetherI had made a mistake or not. “Christian, what’s wrong?” I asked, worried.
Christian ignored me and flipped further until he reached a picture of a group of children. “Are these allof your cousins?” I asked. “My uncle’s last birthday party.” Christian spoke in a hurry and flipped thepicture to read the names.
“If you’re looking for Donovan, it’s here.” I chuckled and pointed out the name. Christian flipped thepicture back around and searched for someone on the image.
“Found him!” He spoke and pointed at the boy while my eyes grew big. It wouldn’t have been a stretchto say that I recognized that face in an instant.
“Tell me, who does he look like?” Christian asked as my mouth was wide open.
